Really good hand cream

I’m a nurse so use lots of hand gel, and wash a lot. I’m finding that the skin around my nails is dry and sore, and I’m unconsciously picking at it. Any recommendations of hand cream ?

O keefes working hands.

For night they do a night version or the shea butter one from locciatane is good

fernz · 18/12/2022 07:41

CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream is the only thing that works for me now (used to love Body Shop Hemp but they lost my custom over their gender politics).

IggityZiggity · 18/12/2022 07:42

Flexitol

daisydoods · 18/12/2022 07:43

Bepanthen nappy rash cream overnight works wonders

Porridgeislife · 18/12/2022 07:49

Aveeno with the blue ribbon or Cerave as already suggested.

O Keefes working hands. Put it on before bed.
Thank me later

snatchabook · 18/12/2022 08:01

Neutrogena is amazing. The unscented stuff.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/12/2022 08:13

You need CND solar nail oil, apply it all over the top of the nail and surrounding skin twice a day. Always buy it from a salon or a proper supplier not grey market like amazon.

KangarooKenny · 18/12/2022 08:16

I did wonder if a cuticle oil would help. I’ve only got face oil so might try that for now.

Lidl sos hand cream, in a red and white tube. Great value and sorted my dermatitis 🙂

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 08:20

Clarins. Can’t be beaten. Although I bought a Nuxe organic one in France that was fantastic.

cocktailclub · 18/12/2022 08:22

Lush do one called helping hands which is good

RampantIvy · 18/12/2022 08:22

I don't find that O'Keefes or the Bodyshop Hemp hand cream work any better than any other hand cream for me. Both of these get recommended a lot on here.

savvy7 · 18/12/2022 08:26

Almond oil for cuticles

Squirrelsnut · 18/12/2022 08:29

L'Occitane Shea is very effective and not greasy.

buonnatale · 18/12/2022 08:31

Fellow nurse here who always struggles with dry cracked hands in the winter.

Recommend 'Nursem' or this one, which is currently on special offer at Boots: www.boots.com/garnier-hand-repair-hand-cream-100ml-10093123

I work in retail. Constantly opening cardboard boxes, working in the cold and lifting and carrying awkward stuff my hands are a mess. Especially this week in the extra cold weather. Only thing I've found (in my budget) is body shop hemp hand cream. Also fab for feet which again with 10 hours on them in the cold are in equally a state

Colourinsidethelines · 18/12/2022 08:42

Definitely the clarins one for me. I get really dry hands in the winter and it always sorts it out. Aveeno is also very good for a more affordable option!

Colourinsidethelines · 18/12/2022 08:43

And the body shop hemp one is really good but is greasy, so better at bedtime. I’ve extensively tried handcreams as you can probably tell! 😂

TeaMeBasil · 18/12/2022 08:46

Another vote for CND nail oil for your cuticles, amazing stuff, my cuticles are so much better and nails no longer flake and split after just a few weeks. Was really surprised how well it worked.

Also love L'Occitane hand cream for your skin.

I use this one too, it's their version of neutrogena & it's so good

Aveeno Skin Relief (the dark blue one) Moisturising Hand Cream - it's like magic to me.

Definitely O’Keefes when you’ve reached emergency levels of care needed! It really instantly solves the problem (foot cream is miraculous too).

Chilledtorybeats · 18/12/2022 09:08

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand-cream with the 8 hour cream if you have any cuts or dry patches. I work with my hands and everyone has their go to hand cream but this is mine.

Alexa456 · 18/12/2022 09:09

Im a HCP who really suffers with my hands and the only thing that really works for me is Body shop hemp when they are bad, not great in work as it takes ages to sink in so its a pain to get gloves on after use!
I use the cutan hand cream that are in the hospital dispensers by the sinks everytime I wash my hands in work and when my hands are ticking along ok, I use epaderm cream religiously, it sinks in really quickly and well!

Also its not always practical & I still have to use it several times a day, but I limit the use of alcohol gel where possible & actually wash my hands instead, I find the washing is less drying/damaging.
