Tinted moisturisers?

Normal to dry skin, fair with few freckles. Almost 50. Foundations seems to be leaving a cakey texture - I apply with fingers, I’ve tried using sponges & brushes, don’t work for me. I only ever use small amount.

More foundation I use, the more it seems to accentuate my lines/pores. Have tried various primers, don’t seem to make much difference.

Boots use to do a brilliant BB blemish balm in their seventeen range, it was so good I stopped wearing foundation for a year, I didn’t need to. I’ve never found anything close.

Any recommendations? I’m thinking full on foundations maybe too much, although I still want a bit of cover.

I have tried so many different kinds of foundations, BB / CC creams just never seem to be the right colour to me. I find the best foundation for me has been Estée Lauder double wear. I use a very small amount over the top of moisturiser and primer. I apply a tiny amount of foundation with a brush just in the areas needed (t zone mostly) and then blend it out. And then a very light dusting of powder over t zone to stop shine (if your skin is dry don’t bother with that). I find the best thing is to get a close match to your skin colour so you can use a tiny amount where needed that can just blend seamlessly into your own skin tone.

Making sure skin is exfoliated and moisturised makes a huge difference to how well the foundation sits on my skin.

Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturiser is fabulous

Irongiant · 17/12/2022 18:52

I personally like Nars tinted moisturiser. It feels hydrating, blends smoothly and also has an spf.

ChickenMaths · 17/12/2022 21:00

I like the L'Oreal True Match tinted serum, which is quite sheer but seems to give my skin a subtle boost.

Second this.

I like Trinny bb cream, spf in it too

closingloop · 17/12/2022 23:41

I'm red and blotchy with alcohol, so use L'Oréal CC cream with the rather alarming green appearance and a little powder over the top. I very rarely wear makeup, and it feels no different to normal moisturizer until I put the powder on.

catfunk · 17/12/2022 23:43

I used to wear the Ganier bb cream but even that feels pretty full coverage now, I absolutely LOVE origins vitazing. Evens my skin tone and gives me a real healthy glow.

catfunk · 17/12/2022 23:44

I'm not even 40 and can't wear foundation anymore as it sits in pores and lines and I can't be faffing with primers and pollyfilla. I can't bear my skin feeling claggy these days.

MarshaMelrose · 17/12/2022 23:51

Missha M BB cream.

OnTheRoll · 17/12/2022 23:59

Arbonne CC cream SPF 30 is the best and I have tried many. And no, I don't work for them

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 18/12/2022 07:31

I am struggling too, and many things that are ‘glowy’ just make me look weirdly ashy and greasy (looking at you IT cosmetics cc cream, Chanel vitalumiere, Dior forever glow etc).

The best one I’ve found at the moment is code 8 beauty radiant balm as it doesn’t have that white/powdery base, it’s more translucent.

This. Its VERY expensive and the shades are limited so I'd try and try it in a shop first. It's sometimes on offer.

uggmum · 18/12/2022 08:42

I love the Origins one. It's in an orange tube.

It evens out skin tone really well. Light and easily absorbed.

I barely use foundation these days as it's so good.

I use it daily and the tube lasts for so long.

I am never loyal to a brand. I chop and change all the time. But since I have started using this I have stuck to it and I'm on my third tube.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 18/12/2022 08:48

I swear by the By Terry cc tinted moisturiser. Not the serum that comes in a glass jar. The one that comes in a tube with a pump.
Really even out my skin and gives a nice soft glow.

my latest discover is the YsL nu skin tinted moisturiser. It doesn’t have any glow to it and does wonders for my skin. It’s very lightweight but good coverage. I got it on offer in John Lewis for about £20

Oh wow thanks everyone loads to look into.

I’ve heard of the Nars one before. I’m not great at picking out shades online though & the thought of going to my nearest shopping centre this time of year, well I’d rather not!

Nars is really good too

WhenYouWalkThroughTheGarden · 18/12/2022 17:43

I use tretinoin so need a good SPF. I love La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid Tinted SPF50. Blends seamlessly, gorgeous texture and gives me a dewy finish.

Fuckitydoodah · 18/12/2022 17:58

Laura mercier is good and I was recently given a tester of Ultra Violette daydream screen and was impressed, it's also factor 50.

WithIcePlease · 18/12/2022 18:10

I had high hopes of Nars but found it much heavier than I expected tbh
I'm liking No7 tinted moisturiser at the moment

RampantIvy · 18/12/2022 18:16

Boots no7 City Light Tinted moisturiser

autumn1610 · 18/12/2022 18:18

Love Nars haven’t worn foundation since. I matched my skin tone on their website I think you take a photo and it gives you 3 options, colour matched really well

Another vote for this !!!!

ExplodingCarrots · 18/12/2022 18:27

I agree with the others about the Nars pure radiant tinted moisturiser. Little bit goes a long way . My skin always looks lovely and glowing . I have very fair and sensitive skin and it's my go to to protect my skin.

Is that the one in the rectangular container with a pointed nozzle? If it is, I love it too.
