Tinted moisturisers?

Normal to dry skin, fair with few freckles. Almost 50. Foundations seems to be leaving a cakey texture - I apply with fingers, I’ve tried using sponges & brushes, don’t work for me. I only ever use small amount.

More foundation I use, the more it seems to accentuate my lines/pores. Have tried various primers, don’t seem to make much difference.

Boots use to do a brilliant BB blemish balm in their seventeen range, it was so good I stopped wearing foundation for a year, I didn’t need to. I’ve never found anything close.

Any recommendations? I’m thinking full on foundations maybe too much, although I still want a bit of cover.

Boots No 7 do both a bb cream and tinted moisturiser which are excellent. NARS tinted moisturiser is also very good - their shades have exotic place names like Havana, Santiago, Mykonos - but the new addition to the range is ‘Norwich’ which really cracked me up!

Haha. Yes I like the nars too. (Finland)

Is that the one in the rectangular container with a pointed nozzle? If it is, I love it too.

That’s the one! 💞

Usually I just mix my Beauty Pie Tinted Sunscreen in with my Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream but I also love M&S Autograph BB Tinted Moisturiser SPF15

Silverstreaks · 19/12/2022 00:25

I have the same frustration. Any colour seems to sit on top and accentuates pores.
I think it's putting the foundation on over SPF that is the problem. I've tried a number of SPFs and it's always the same.

Most tinted moisturiser usually has a low SPF.

I like the tinted SPF La Roche
Also Nivea
And Clarins

I sometimes use a blob of two different ones OP to get a good tone match (esp in winter when am super pasty)

I like the L'Oreal True Match tinted serum, which is quite sheer but seems to give my skin a subtle boost.

Me too, it's such a nice product. Shame the bottle is so messy ans annoying with the dropper though

sjpkgp1 · 19/12/2022 00:58

I absolutely love this. Goes on white-purple so I didn't have great hopes. It isn't cheap at £40 a tube, but lasts a while and is worth it for the colour match. www.esteelauder.co.uk/product/681/30033/product-catalog/skincare/revitalizing-supreme/global-anti-aging-cc-creme-spf10

Erborian all the way.
It's a Korean brand and I love it. They do a CC cream, and a CC water that is lighter coverage.

Tinted moisturizer with your SPF requirements is the way to go.
simplify your routine, less layering and risk of pilling.
I’m trialing Elta MD UV moisturizing facial sunscreen

I have tried so many different kinds of foundations, BB / CC creams just never seem to be the right colour to me. I find the best foundation for me has been Estée Lauder double wear. I use a very small amount over the top of moisturiser and primer. I apply a tiny amount of foundation with a brush just in the areas needed (t zone mostly) and then blend it out. And then a very light dusting of powder over t zone to stop shine (if your skin is dry don’t bother with that). I find the best thing is to get a close match to your skin colour so you can use a tiny amount where needed that can just blend seamlessly into your own skin tone.

Making sure skin is exfoliated and moisturised makes a huge difference to how well the foundation sits on my skin.

I do exactly the same.

I went for the Nars Tinted Moisturiser, it’s just lovely. I only need a tiny amount. I’m now looking for a good face powder, I usually use Boots Natural collection, for the price it’s really good, however once you’ve used it, say half way through the compact, it’s as if it doesn’t give as good results?

I didn’t like the Nars one - felt heavy on my skin. I absolutely love YSL Nu. I used YSL Touche Eclat foundation for years and thought I’d try Nu out. It’s buildable and stays put. My skin looks gorgeous and I get compliments. The Nars one was more matte, I found.

Go to a YSL beauty counter and ask them to squeeze some in a tester pot.

Shitfather · 19/02/2023 21:30

Sorry - just saw your update!

Junobug · 19/02/2023 21:50

For those of you that usenthe La Roche Possay tinted fluid, do you find you need a moisturiser underneath?

WhenYouWalkThroughTheGarden · 20/02/2023 12:27

If my skin is feeling dry that morning I will put a tiny amount of a very light gel crème moisturiser (Garnier Hemp Restore) on before and let it sink in before applying. But generally I use it alone and then a bit of translucent powder on T zone.
