Jumper dresses

Hi all!

I really want some nice jumper dresses but can't seem to find anything (probably because I am rubbish at knowing where to look!).

I want something just above the knee but I'm 5'11" with very long legs so things usually advertised as that often come up very short like a mini dress. Heavy/ warm material, not flimsy thin stuff (I get cold). I'm autistic so no scratchy wool etc, it must be soft fabric. But natural fabric ideally. No high/ roll necks etc as I can't stand the feeling of stuff around my neck. Need long sleeves obviously (hate being cold!!). Something reasonably fitted as I'm a size 10 and look like I'm wearing a bin bag in baggy stuff.

So not fussy at all then. 😳🤣

Budget not too limited, can pay £100+ for the right thing.

Any ideas, clever people??

Maybe it's not just me then, and there aren't any! 🤣

I haven’t bought any this year but have loads from previous years from monsoon. Have you looked there?

Lucia574 · 17/12/2022 11:35

Me & Em are good for tall people. They have one or two jumper dresses.

boboshmobo · 17/12/2022 11:37

Have a look at long tall sally on the next website

LunaLoveFood · 17/12/2022 11:38

I bought the most comfy, soft and long jumper dress, from Sainsburys. It was £25 washes really well and looks great with a belt.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 17/12/2022 11:38

maybe search for knitted dresses instead of jumper dresses?

Ah sorry those above might be too long for you.

What about hooded, or is that too much around the neck area?

Vero Moda have a really big range and I find they wash well. Also Uniqlo.

HootOwlStrikesAgain · 17/12/2022 13:04

Hooded not good I'm afraid. Some excellent suggestions though, thank you! Off to check these out! Smile

Which one is it?

Yes too long I think, as you said.

These look nice but any idea if they would come to the length on the models on someone tall? Worried if they've used short models they might be super short?

I can only see one on there that has long sleeves and is above the knee, but it looks quite far above the knee on the model, more like a mini dress. I wish they quoted the models' heights in their listings not just their sizes!

Good idea but just checked and can't see any on there that aren't either too short, too long, high neck or wrong kind of fabric. 🫣

Some pretty stuff but all seem to be polyester/ acrylic and quite long.

New Look have some nice jumper dresses in this year, midaxi/maxi/midi length and they do a tall range, not sure on the material they use though!

HootOwlStrikesAgain · 17/12/2022 13:20

Can only see one on Uniqlo and it's long and artifical materials mostly.

Aaargh!!!

Any other ideas?

I bought this in three colours. It was last year, but it's worth tracking down on Ebay. It is non-itchy (not entirely wool, but I have accepted it as it's smooth enough not to bother me), and the neckline works for me (I can't do roll necks or those 'grandad' type collars which touch my neck - I am horrendously fussy about the feel of clothes).

HootOwlStrikesAgain · 17/12/2022 13:27

Sorry to be such a fusspot. But I promised myself I'd stop buying clothes that weren't right thinking "oh it'll be ok" and then never wearing them because they set off my sensory issues. 🫣

Some of these look decent but the fabric issue again. So frustrating. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Is merino ok? I can wear merino and cashmere but struggle with other wools.

There are a few merino Jaeger dresses (available from M&S) but they may be too long or too high necked.

These look brilliant! Yes merino is mostly ok as not scratchy. Thank you!!
