I just want comfortable knickers!

For several years now I have been wearing only ‘Itsebitse’ knickers from Costco. Simple cotton high-legs with smooth, flat elastic. No itchy, irritating lace or trims. But Costco hasn't had them for months and months, and I need new knickers!

Where can I get comfortable knickers that don’t cost ££&£££?

Gap breathe when they are on offer!

playgroundwarrior · 24/08/2023 22:39

I bought some Wirapa after reading about them here and they’re so comfy I never want to wear my other kinds.

Here’s hoping they don’t get greedy after too many mumsnet converts, sell out to a VC and cut corners on quality! Right now they are perfection.

Swarmingbees · 24/08/2023 22:43

Can someone help me with Boody.

if I am a size 14 knicker in M&S which size should I go for?

and if I am a Fantasie 36DD which size in the wireless bra.

I cant believe how excited I am at potentially finding a way to solve my knicker / bra problem. Thank you OP for the original post and everyone who has recommended possible solutions.

M&s midis now called high rise shorts! Could have written the new name thing at the top of their description though!
"This five-pack of cotton-rich shorts comprises two plain styles and three printed versions. High-rise waist. Made with added Lycra® for a flexible fit. We only ever use responsibly sourced cotton for our clothes.M&S Collection: easy-to-wear wardrobe staples that combine classic and contemporary styles.
New name, still your favourite midi fit"

@LadyEloise1 M&S midis live on! They just renamed them "high rise shorts", no idea why - the utter knobbers

Nope. No good. There's no elastic in the legs of their shorts 😭

Ginmonkeyagain · 24/08/2023 22:45

No no! These aren't their normal shorts but just the same midi pants but renamed high rise shorts. I am wearing some now and they definitely have elasticated legs

minipie · 24/08/2023 22:47

Amazon essentials cotton bikini. But size up!!!

Rainbow1612 · 24/08/2023 22:49

I swear by playtex knickers. Not attractive but they are bloody comfy!

Precipice · 24/08/2023 22:51

I wear Asda pack underwear they call 'short briefs', but I wish they had a bit of a wider gusset and were also wider on the bum. I also think they used to be comfier and now, though still claiming to be the same composition of cotton, feel more elastic. I did try the midis, but found them too high on the stomach.

I'd like to try some of the boxer style that some companies make for women, but I'm a bit wary because of the price, since if they're a bad fit, mostly you'll not be able to return them.

biedrona · 24/08/2023 22:54

Agree with Muji recommendation. Petit Bateau does nice ones too

PeggyPiglet · 24/08/2023 22:56

Innersey ones from Amazon. Wouldn't wear anything else now.

JellicleCat · 24/08/2023 23:03

The Asda cotton full briefs have flat elastic, none of that itchy lacy stuff, but I don't know if the highlegs are the same. The ones I have are comfy and seem to wash well.

dudsville · 25/08/2023 07:59

I know you don't want expensive but mine are years old and still going strong. No elastic and they do not shift. The brand is Thunder Pants.

Pigtailsandall · 25/08/2023 09:56

I love the name Thunder Pants!

Inspired by this thread, I paid £30 for a pack of 3 Sloggi pants (luckily, I had a voucher - I can't imagine spending £10 a pair on knickers otherwise!) and sized up like recommended. They are perfect. Just perfect. I still like the JL Anyday ones too (the non-lace ones) as an alternative

CrunchyCarrot · 25/08/2023 09:58

I got so fed up with the state of women's knickers that I now wear men's boxers! But no gusset of course so that might be an issue.

Forbeehives · 25/08/2023 10:05

Wirapa here too, so comfy, don’t move, and best of all a decent size gusset!

CosyCoffee · 25/08/2023 10:13

Wirarpa are all DH and I wear nowadays. They're so comfy, roomy, AND have a cotton gusset!

Go large in the knickers.
Not sure on the bra thingy (let me know if any good) but their website might gave a help/chat facility.

I love Boody knickers. Bought my first pair nearly 2 years ago and still wearing them.

Almahart · 25/08/2023 10:20

Another vote for Innersy on Amazon. They are brilliant

lenalove · 25/08/2023 13:26

Not glam at all but Asda and Sainsbury's do the comfiest imo!

Ollybob · 31/08/2023 08:40

Must order some knickers today, I usually get Matalan or sainsburys high waisted lace top knickers, comfy but like most things these days quality has gone downhill and they just seem to be getting thinner and thinner!
I'll be going for Innersey or wirapara is one better than the other?
Just after black full briefs, thick cotton and decent gusset.
I did try oddballs boxers but the gusset was ridiculously small and kept rolling up/down, shame as the patterns were great, funky not granny lol

WildFlowerBees · 01/09/2023 08:41

Another one for M&S flex fit, flat waist band really comfortable. I really dislike it when underwear is soft and then they put that awful waistband on them.

JanesBlond · 01/09/2023 15:14

They are a bit pricier but Thought knickers are soooo comfy, soft and no trims. I switched to them when the trims on M&S midis started irritating the skin around my legs.
