How many of you wear foundation every day? or should that be, how many of you DON'T?

I know Twiglett doesn't, and I don't (only for parties). I just don't like it (and I am lucky enough to have good skin - although I have chubby cheeks to counterbalance that so don't hate me )

So do you wear it everyday? from what age, and why?

Pure nosiness...

I wear it most days because I have the skin of a teenage chip shop worker.

Cappuccino · 02/02/2008 10:55

I do try to wear it if going outside

I'm just getting to that age where I look a bit of a potato without it

I look a bit peaky without a bit of colour

needmorecoffee · 02/02/2008 10:57

never worn it and I'm nearly 40. What I hate it seeing it caked on and really, it doesn't hide spots.

DrNortherner · 02/02/2008 10:58

I do. I am 31 and I have for aslong as I can remember, with a tan I wear tinted moisturiser but I always wear something.

I'm not ugly, I have a nice complexion, I just feel 'polished' with my make up on. I do work though and could not bear the thought of arriving at teh office without my makeup on. Saying that, I wear it at weekends too.

IMO only fresh faced 17 year olds can go base free.

ProfessorGrammaticus · 02/02/2008 10:58

I have skin like orange peel, so I wear it. A very light one though - prescriptives skin tint I think it is called.

wildwoman · 02/02/2008 10:58

dont be mean needmorecoffee it does it doesit does!

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 02/02/2008 11:00

I would have put money on this being Cod's thread.

Are the fish and rabbit morphing.....??

DrNortherner · 02/02/2008 11:01

Those who think make up does not hid spots are ovbiously applying it wrong.

It doesn't make them disapear granted, but can improve they way they look.

Hassled · 02/02/2008 11:02

I've also worn foundation every day for years - although when I'm feeling particularly daring and the sun is shining I wear tinted moisturiser.
As to why - insecurity? I have blotchy skin and ruddy cheeks, coupled with dark rings under my eyes - but possibly these are the result of years of plastering gunk on my face.

smugmumofboys · 02/02/2008 11:02

I wear a tinted moisturiser every day (Clinique Super City Block spf40) and proper foundation only for going out in the evening. I'm 39 and have fairly good skin but am a bit red of cheek and the tint just even things out. I always put a sploosh of loose powder over the top too.

Bellavita · 02/02/2008 11:03

I do - but only on certain areas to balance skin colour out and it is just lightly applied with a sponge.

yummylittlelapin · 02/02/2008 11:03

Excuse me Bree, with that perfectly spelled title?!

DrN, I wear concealer, mascara, lippy etc to work, but not foundation (I'm nearly 39). My friend always wore it, and she had terrible skin - her dermatologist told her the foundation was exacerbating the condition. She had to go makeup free for a month while her skin healed - I know it was horrible for her, she felt awfully self-conscious

Oh Hassled, I have the dark circles in spades. Thank god for concealer (and I am a complete convert to this mineral stuff).

I don't wear foundation but if I had some spare cash I'd probably buy some really good stuff. I think if it's applied well it enhances your appearance.

DrNortherner · 02/02/2008 11:05

Another benefir is that many foundations contain an SPF

Pinkchampagne · 02/02/2008 11:05

I don't wear it ever, and don't even own any!

Vacua · 02/02/2008 11:05

I don't, maybe once or twice a week - I like benefit non-fiction because it's very light coverage and sort of invisible, just tones down my 10 zillion blemishes a bit without looking like a mask

also I only really put it where I want it, not all over my face

brimfull · 02/02/2008 11:05

I wear tinted moisturiser or foundation depending on mood/time etc.

I have worn it for about 300 yrs now.

I only wear it on bits of my face not a huge thick mask like application. You couldn't tell I was wearing it tbh.

Lulumama · 02/02/2008 11:06

every day from about 18 as my skin was not great. still isn;t. i wear make up every day, powder foundation, cream blush, eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss.... but i don;t look caked.... i do look a hell of a lot better with it,look peaky otherwise

Elphaba · 02/02/2008 11:06

I wear it every day if I'm going out. If I'm in all day then I give it a miss.

I think I look 100X better with it on - it evens out the complexion

colditz · 02/02/2008 11:06

I don't, only when i am going somwhere a bit special. My skin is fairly clear, I am only 27, I don't feel I need it.

cariboo · 02/02/2008 11:06

I cannot be seen by the general public without moisturiser & foundation. The rest is optional but I look a lot better with the slap on than off.

needmorecoffee · 02/02/2008 11:06

I don't think older women need foundation. Like I said, at 40 I've never worn make up and apart from a few fine lines when I smile my skin is fine. I reckon its cos I haven't clogged it up with stuff.
I do pop sun block on my nose and cheeks during the summer though as I burn like a ginger and will wear a hat to protect me from the sun.

DrNortherner · 02/02/2008 11:06

You're not supposed to eb able to tell yuo are wearing it - that's the idea.

Those with orange masks are getting it all wrong.

ZippiBabes · 02/02/2008 11:07

i never did but the last six months i have started wearing it..i am 50 tho

i just use my fingers

and at the mo i am using bourjois ten hour sleep effect...as i am going to bed at about 3 every night i dont think i am giving it much help lol
