Winter-proof Chelsea boots

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some Chelsea boots which are likely to last a couple of winters and stand up to traipsing out and about countryside and town

DM’s

Bitsadnow · 09/12/2022 21:45

Thanks for the suggestion! I guess I'm looking for something other than DMs though, as haven't found the ones I've had previously to be impressive

Grenson are very long-lasting.

But - leather chelsea boots aren't generally waterproof (most leather footwear isn't as it requires particular seams) so I always wear something more welly-like if doing country walks.

Clarks orinoco

I love my Birkenstock ones.

Blundstone classic boots are great. They're really comfortable and hard wearing.

katmunchkin · 10/12/2022 08:20

Boudicca's by Fairfax and Favor will last you forever

RumblePhish · 10/12/2022 08:20

I dog walk in the woods my Birkenstocks in most weathers. Seem fine (though I always wear woolly socks so maybe I just don’t notice)

Thesheerrelief · 10/12/2022 11:57

I second blundstone

banhmi · 10/12/2022 17:52

Penelope Chilvers (but only when in sale!)

DM Alysons. Made for bad weather, fur lined and no breaking in needed. My feet are toasty in them

Bitsadnow · 10/12/2022 19:47

Thanks so much for the suggestions - Plenty I've not heard of before so it's been really helpful. Now just need to make a decision! 😬

I have these in black, I’ve had them 3 years and they still look new. The insulation is an extra bonus

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 10/12/2022 20:48

Bareback boots do all styles. I have Quebec which are higher but totally waterproof and I love them!

Justonedayatatime11 · 10/12/2022 23:17

Fairfax and Favor Boudicas. Lived in mine for the past 2 years and they still clean up good as new

marmiteloversunite · 10/12/2022 23:24

Ugg do leather waterproof boots which I have found very good.

PensionPuzzle · 10/12/2022 23:37

I'd have a look at equestrian/country retailers at paddock or jodhpur boots as they are basically Chelsea boots that are made to do a job. Ariat or Brogini as a starting point but there's loads of brands and styles.

TheOGCCL · 11/12/2022 10:08

Clarks Lydia Top meet this brief I think

Moon22 · 11/12/2022 10:31

I got Panama Jacks this year. I love them but I did end up taking them to cobblers to get stretched as they gave me blisters. Perfect after the stretch though.
They are good quality, sheepskin lined and very warm.

Lemoncurd · 11/12/2022 10:52

I was pondering getting some (marketed as) waterproof Josef Siebel ones from Costco, but they sold out. Got some Moshulu ones instead and they are lovely- www.moshulu.co.uk/

SimoneA · 14/12/2022 18:48

Ariat Wexfords. I’ve had mine for 10 years and wear them a good six months out of the year. I’ve had the heel cap replaced twice, otherwise they still look brand new.

tunainatin · 14/12/2022 18:49

I got some really nice reiker ones. Warm and waterproof and as yet only on their first winter but look set to last!
