British Jewellery?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy some jewellery for Christmas, but want to try and buy british rather than lots of the stuff on the high street is made in India or China. Lots of the stuff on Etsy seems to be mass produced these days too or, to be brutally honest like something from a craft stall.

Are there any good british brands these days?

I recommend London Rocks. Everything is made by hand in their London studio in Hatton Garden. I have a lot of pieces from there (including some bespoke ones). Fabulous quality, lovely people, nothing is too much trouble. And that's genuinely the case unlike some jewellery designers who say it is but actually someone else manufactures it for them offsite (not naming names but quite a trendy Shoreditch based designer does this).

I like Shaun Leane's stuff. Have requested a pair of his talon earrings this Christmas.

I have bought a few bits from here

Thanks all. Will take a good look through the rest of these tonight.

My first impression is that many of them look a little too 'machined', if that makes sense.

Any suggestions for any that are more nature inspired and less mainstream? Thanks.

I second Sheila Fleet. Gorgeous stuff.

Mercurial123 · 06/12/2022 15:23

Wright & Teague are probably my favourite British jewellery designer.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 06/12/2022 15:25

John Garland-Taylor for beautiful silver jewellery.

BeverleyMacca1 · 06/12/2022 15:28

Daniella Draper has some beautiful pieces.

I’ve been looking for gold / diamond huggies, the nicest and best priced have been a designer called Ferko but they are US based. Can’t find anything similar in the U.K. at all unfortunately, prices here seem so much higher

PAFMO · 06/12/2022 15:37

Sheila Fleet.
I want absolutely everything.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/12/2022 15:38

Both beautiful handmade jewellery. Nothing mass produced. You'll need to be quick though as a lot of small businesses final posting dates are coming up soon.

www.alisonmoore.co.uk/ also based in Orkney.

Another Sheila Fleet fan here - my wedding ring set is from here and is a thing of beauty. Or for slightly more expensive pieces, Stephen Einhorn is in Islington.

I've also bought some lovely silver ring stacks for 21st birthday presents from Alison Moore, also in Orkney.

Jana Reinhardt sells ethically made silver/ gold jewellery made in her U.K. workshop

Yet another vote here for Sheila Fleet! I bought a yellow gold "wave" ring of hers on impulse around 20 yrs ago and still love it.
Another designer I like is Sarah Clarke whose products can be found if you search "fluidbydesign". Have a gorgeous rose gold pendant from her. She also offers a lovely friendly and personal service. Highly recommended.

There are some lovely handmade unique and unusual pieces here. I have a necklace and i have also bought as gifts which were very well received. (There's a ring section too)
