Any interest in a opening/review thread?

I tend to open early.
No photos until after 0700?

Very happy with today's drawer. Ticks all the AC boxes for me : product I would use regularly, have never tried and has good reviews.

I've just used some after morning cleanse and so far, so good. Nice smell, good texture, absorbs well and skin feels good. Has perked me up this morning.

Roundaboot · 17/12/2022 08:32

Lovely! Just what I need this morning after a few wines last night!

Stokey · 17/12/2022 09:00

Yes this was one of the products I wanted to try. I've already got a Vit C cream on the go, but will use this afterwards.

ecology1989 · 17/12/2022 09:17

Looking forward to trying todays - it looks so fun (I like the tequila sunrise assessment). I already love my Lunene day cream so will be good to try another one of their products.

Had a little bit of time on my hands this morning so thought about the products I’ve used so far and what I’ve been impressed with. surprisingly it’s the Olaplex! Never tried it, would have ever bought it but used it twice now and both times people think I’ve been at the salon which feels like an easy win!

I was always going to enjoy the makeup - I’m a fan of CT eyeshadow, MAC lippy and Laura Mercier Powder anyway. The lipstick and eyeshadow have been my go to products since I opened the drawers.

I tried the Exfolikate this morning, not impressed, my skin looks very angry, red and inflamed… I wanted to try it (against my own better judgement) but it’s way to harsh for me.

Have been using the Elemis pro collagen for 5 days. It’s good, enjoyed using it but won’t replace my normal morning serum.

Enjoyed some posh baths with the Molten Brown.

Really like both perfumes and wouldn’t have tried either normally so these have been a win!

Looking forward to the last week. Overall I’m really happy so far, it’s been the pick me up and treat I was looking forward too.

PomRuns · 17/12/2022 10:01

I have 2 serums on the go - but looking forward to trying next year.

It’s half full? 😒

PomRuns · 17/12/2022 11:13

@MyOtherCarIsAHearse it’s 2 tone 😊

@ecology1989 - I’d use the Elemis before my serum. It’s basically a very hydrating toner . And if your skin is feeling dry and tight you can use a few layers of it. Might be a good idea after the Exfolikate! Which I definitely won’t be trying!

RingofBrodgar · 17/12/2022 11:41

Absolutely not going to give away any spoilers, but circumstances made me decide to open to the end of the calendar and I have to say the stuff in the last week is fantastic. For me, there was only one slightly disappointing but still very useable drawer. All in all, this calendar has been a brilliant buy and a lovely December pick-me-up.

ecology1989 · 17/12/2022 11:43

Thanks @Peridot1 - I’ll give that a go. Yes now have many layers of creams on… I knew I shouldn’t have tried the Exfolikate 🤦🏼‍♀️ my skin was looking really lovely too and now I’m a blotchy mess! That’s what happens if I have time on my hands on a Saturday morning…

Dailymash · 17/12/2022 11:51

Just looking at this bottle makes me very happy, reminds me of the days when I was was12 and would spend my Saturday afternoons going shopping with what little pocket money I had - including a customary trip to Boots to mix up all the bottles like this Grin

This smells lovely so I’ll look forward to trying it.

If we say £49 for yesterdays eye cream and £32.90 for the tequila sunrise (JL website) we’re up to £412.90.

PomRuns · 17/12/2022 11:13

No, I’m saying mine really is just half full.

Ah - that's pretty rubbish. Hope they replace for you.

@ecology1989 - I've been pleasantly surprised by the Olaplex and also the salt scrub which I used last night (my hair is very thick so don't think scrub is going to do many washes).

I do like the Exfolikate - made my skin look great. Once a week only though!

What serum do you normally use? Interested as I’m really liking the Elemis

PomRuns · 17/12/2022 13:57

Just realised my pic is pretty rubbish, I'm in a Christmas tidying frenzy.

I love this serum! It’s absolutely beautiful and makes my skin feel lovely. Never heard of it before.

IconicKitty · 18/12/2022 07:46

Today's looks good, but I'm already drowning in blusher from past calendars. Does anyone ever actually use one of these up?

Peridot1 · 18/12/2022 08:00

Bobbi Brown day! So should be the Molton Brown shower gel for those who already got this.

it looks like a nice odour. I got something similar from Milk Make Up in something last year and really like it so much that I bought a replacement even though I haven’t quite finished the original. This looks a bit more pink so will be a nice change.

@IconicKitty - not really! But I’m happy to get this. I’m finding a cream blusher better for me these days so happy to have it. Will probably chuck my very old powder one now.

pattyparsnip · 18/12/2022 08:05

I use this all the he time anyway so it will replace my old one . I use powder pink in winter then fresh melon In summer , so perfect timing Smile

PomRuns · 18/12/2022 08:08

DofD for me.

are we having a swap thread? I won’t use the make up.

OP posts:
SpicyToothpaste · 18/12/2022 08:21

Love todays and had been waiting for it since I got the shower gel last time!

I normally use a powder blush but loved the idea of this cream one that I could use on lips too and I’ve just tried it and love it.

I’d love a swap thread … but there isn’t a single thing in this calendar I’d swap as I’ve loved it all. The first advent to ever do that for me! I do have lots of things from beauty boxes over the summer I’d swap though. Maybe we should do a separate thread as I’m sure others with different calendars might like to swap!

Lookingformymarbles · 18/12/2022 08:50

I've been waiting for the Bobbi Brown but now I've got it, I'm not sure! I rarely wear blusher, (just bronzer). Has anyone used this on their lips?

Was very happy with the lumene, not used this particular product before but have used the face wash, vit c serum & moisturisers, both of which were in advent calendars which I then went on to purchase.

ecology1989 · 18/12/2022 09:02

Look forward to trying the Bobbie Brown, very similar colour to my Clinique cream blusher but that’s ok.

@Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 - I normally use the Vichy Mineral 89 serum under my Lumene Moisturiser. I’m outdoors a lot and I find it works really well. I used to use the Estée Lauder Pore Minimizer but now I’m in my 30s my skin seems to be changing and I don’t seem to need it / prefer different products.

I have put the Elemis essence under the Lumene serum from yesterday with my usual moisturiser on top. Will report back on how it feels later. It’s about to get a good test outside in the snowy highlands!
