As in previous years, this is a thread for all those opening beauty advent calendars not covered by specific threads, though happy for any to be posted here too. We’d also love to hear about other non-beauty calendars.

Only one ask please, do not disclose contents of calendars before 7am on the relevant day.

I’ll be opening the Liberty and Fortnum and Mason calendars. Possibly also Latest in Beauty, assuming it arrives on time.

Only two sleeps to go - looking forward to it!

Neom bedtime hero pillow mist in HN today. Desperately needed as I'm a terrible sleeper!

AprilLady · 08/12/2022 07:26

Day 8:

F&M: Penhaligons Rose lip balm. Very pretty packaging and looking forward to trying this. I haven’t seen Penhaligons in an advent calendar before, so really nice.

Liberty: Larry King Satin Finishing Cream. I’ve had the shampoo before, which was fine, but this is also a new product for me. As my hair tends to frizz a lot, always happy to have a new hair product to try that claims to produce a “satin” finish

LiB: Kate Somerville ExfoliKate. This seems to be in quite a few calendars this year. Full size at least. But, as previously discussed, not one that works for me, so this will find its way to eBay at some point.

Day 8 on the Elle calendar. Shishiedo eye mask. Looking forward to trying this but it's only one set so a bit disappointing to be honest. Still another one to use this weekend after my night out 😂

Roundaboot · 08/12/2022 07:43

More chocolate balls from Degustabox! 😄 Crispy Terry's chocolate orange today. I'm not complaining as I love chocolate orange but there's definitely a theme!

AprilLady · 08/12/2022 07:57

@Roundaboot that has been a lot of chocolate in Degusta! My kids would be more than happy with that.

A Mac lipstick in JL today- it’s a nice nude.

Ponks · 08/12/2022 08:10

No7: a tube of Protect and Perfect day cream, used to love this so very pleased. Good size tube too, half size of normal tub.

bigdecisionstomake · 08/12/2022 08:20

I am loving hearing about all of your different calendars. I've got Space NK this year so I'm on that thread but am already getting ideas and a shortlist for which one I might get next year by reading about the lovely items you're all getting!

Am definitely swaying towards the Degustabox as an extra alongside a beauty one as I'm getting serious chocolate ball envy 😂

LookdeepintotheAdvent · 08/12/2022 09:13

Clinique - a mini size of their smart correct range for 2 days in a row 🙄 does anyone else feel that not a lot of time/thought has gone into curating their calendar this year? I'd be the first one in the Clinique department putting my hand up for that job 😂

DH happy with more chocolate balls in Degustabox 😂

Full size Shea shampoo in Body Shop today which DD was v happy with!

QueefofSheena · 08/12/2022 09:37

Glossybox today is a Nip Fab Vit C tonic. 100ml so a decent size. 5 Floral Street perfume samples in Flannels, everything up to now has been well worth the (reduced) price of the AC

Housewife2010 · 08/12/2022 11:07

Very happy with Degustabox today. Were we supposed to get 2 bags?

Very happy with all the chocolatey balls in degusta.

Body Shop - Shea shampoo
H&B - eye cream
Selfridges - barb sturm hyaluronic serum

Stokey · 08/12/2022 13:10

I'm happy with the Mac lipstick - shade syrup - in JL today. Fenwick's was a Nars eyeshadow base, not something I use usually but will give it a go.

Yesterday got a lovely smelling Delina body cream from Fenwick's and the Elemis moisture essence from JL, which I'll use once I've finished the Clinique moisture surge from earlier in Fenwick's!

Really enjoying both of these.

Stokey · 08/12/2022 13:10

Also have chocolate balls envy!

Roundaboot · 08/12/2022 13:10

@Housewife2010 According to the wee booklet, we were indeed! I had a nice surprise as DS opened the calendar this morning and took out one packet, so I found the other one left in there, and checked the booklet to see if it was an error. A generous day!

@QueefofSheena Flannels is sounding really good so far. I love the Floral Street perfumes, especially Iris Goddess

CountryCob · 08/12/2022 13:23

Debenhams is mini Versace Noir in really pretty bottle, one of the quite woody ones, love a pretty mini bottle though. LinB exfolikate - what is it that people don’t love here? If it’s too hard might not open as Murad daily exfoliation once a week or so is enough for my sensitive dry skin, I bought a full size of this recently and think there is another in AC so might go somewhere….

Couperi · 08/12/2022 13:24

Degusta made me very happy today, didn't even know this product existed. Exfolikate will get used but I'm a bit meh about it. H&B isn't exciting me at all so far.

doublecleansed · 08/12/2022 13:55

@CountryCob Exfolikate is pretty full-on, so not great if your skin is sensitive (or at this time of year, really). And if the Murad (which is much gentler) is enough for your skin, then I'd maybe swerve the Exfolikate. Depends if you want to try it out and see, of leave it unopened so you can pass on/sell/swap.

My skin isn't that sensitive but I don't really like Exfolikate (I quite like the cleanser version in the range - which is similar to the Murad).

AprilLady · 08/12/2022 14:24

I have used these sorts of exfoliating masks before successfully, but this one particularly strong. The thing I like least about it is that, on me, it doesn’t just “tingle” it stings, really badly (and I have a reasonably high pain threshold usually).

Last few in my ASOS has been a dr paw paw hair treatment (which I’ve gave away as team olaplex) the oskia renaissance mask (which I’m happy with) and a carmex lip balm (which will be used in these winter conditions!)

CountryCob · 08/12/2022 18:57

@doublecleansed and @AprilLady thanks very much, don’t think I will open this and it can go in a pile with Oplex 3….

loz12345 · 09/12/2022 07:24

Sephora yesterday had the ordinary caffeine solution- can’t wait to try this as I have dark circles and today was a Molton brown heavenly gingerlily bath/shower gel and patchology eye gels so not a bad couple of days

JL today is a small bottle if Givenchy L’Interdit perfume. A nice classic.

LookdeepintotheAdvent · 09/12/2022 07:48

L'interdit is lovely!

Clinique today is an eyeliner which is great as I need one.

DD was very pleased with her pink grapefruit shower gel in Body Shop. I love it too and another nostalgic smell 😍

Degustabox moved away from the chocolate balls today and DH got some sea salt!!

Stokey · 09/12/2022 07:50

Pleased with L'interdit in JL.

Fenwick's is the Oskia face mask, so another product I'm happy with.
