As in previous years, this is a thread for all those opening beauty advent calendars not covered by specific threads, though happy for any to be posted here too. We’d also love to hear about other non-beauty calendars.

Only one ask please, do not disclose contents of calendars before 7am on the relevant day.

I’ll be opening the Liberty and Fortnum and Mason calendars. Possibly also Latest in Beauty, assuming it arrives on time.

Only two sleeps to go - looking forward to it!

😂 @ThePoshUns I’m going to throw some in the bath later. It can also be used as a massage oil if heavily diluted.

loz12345 · 06/12/2022 12:01

Yesterday Sephora had a Omorovicza Deep cleansing mask and today is a nails inc peppermint place nail polish

Clinique- quite a reasonably sized sample of Happy perfume today. I've always associated it with being a teenager and wouldn't buy a full bottle but this is perfect for a nostalgia trip!

Degustabox was bruscetta and DH was happy!

I bet frankincense oil smells lovely in a burner. I'm tempted to pop into H&B to buy some!

loz12345 · 06/12/2022 15:41

@AprilLady i have to admit I am very envious of your perfume x

I am really looking forward to using todays mask

Couperi · 06/12/2022 15:47

Happy with the LiB dry shampoo. Bruschettas look good, will sample later. May try PP tip and put some of the B&B oil in the bath.

SoloCat · 06/12/2022 15:51

So far I’m loving;
Liberty…Miracle oil, it’s so hydrating. I’ve had a few dry patches and it’s the only thing that seems to have worked without irritation. I’ve also mixed it with my moisturiser, it’s worked a treat in this cold weather.
Harrods…Champo pitta shampoo and conditioner, already purchased some of their scalp oil.
Disappointed in some things..like the Aveda, it’s so overused in beauty boxes. Also Fenwicks has a lot that have “Not for sale” on…although some nice things in some drawers. I’m glad it I only paid half price!

SoloCat · 06/12/2022 16:04

@LookdeepintotheAdvent My mother in law wears that and I always think she smells lovely, she does get complimented when out and about too! I remember it back in my 20’s when I used to go in our local department store. That was many moons ago! Enjoy your nostalgia! 😊

ChannelLightVessel · 06/12/2022 17:43

Thanks @Piccalino3. I’ve had a reply from Degustabox: they’ve run out of advent calendars, so they’re refunding me. At least DB got his, but I want my chocolate balls 😾

AprilLady · 06/12/2022 20:24

@ChannelLightVessel that’s very disappointing of Degustabox. Have they offered compensation?

@SoloCat I think Fenwick’s would not have been worthwhile at full price with so many small sizes - but at the reduced price it was worth it for the mix of products.

@Stokey completely off topic, but today’s Times Cryptic is at the easiest end of the spectrum - worth trying for a confidence boost 😀

I really like the konjak thing from Bodyshop calendar yesterday. It makes face cleaning a bit fun.

Today I got small shower gel from Bodyshop. Selfridges was an odd parfume where the fragrance comes and goes.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/12/2022 22:09

Pleased to report that I have finally been refunded by Harrods, and the replacement calendar that I bought £75 off in the sale has arrived. Just opened the first 6 days and all perfect so far...

@InfinityOrUndefined is the Selfridges perfume Molecule 01 - it’s the Iso E Super perfume I got a few days ago in F&M, that really doesn’t work for me.

@MidnightMeltdown that is a good haul, and glad to hear you have your refund. I’d be interested to know what the AB cleanser is like. It’s nice to have a different AB product.

Brilliant…,so glad you got it sorted. It is a great calendar. 😊 Looking at all your products lined up makes you realise that.
Some of the calendars have been shocking in their product sizing.

Stokey · 06/12/2022 22:53

Thanks for the heads up @AprilLady , will try and give it a go tomorrow. I've had an intense day at work so only just catching up.

JL was the CT eye shadow palette, like @Peridot1 I don't tend to use it much.

Fenwick's was a Doctor's Scrub exfoliating daily cleanser. I've actually been quite pleased with Fenwick's, despite the small sizes. So far there's only been 1 brand I've used before - the MB shower gel - so it's a nice trial. For me, I think it's slightly edging JL so far.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 07/12/2022 07:31

An OPI mail varnish in HN today. Had forgotten there was a nail varnish in the list because that's another drawer of disappointment for me. Almost certain that's the last one!

Peridot1 · 07/12/2022 07:38

Nice lot of products there @MidnightMeltdown. Glad all worked out with Harrods for you.

JL today is Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Essence. Small size but good for travel. I like the Pro-Collagen Marine range and love an essence so happy with this.

AprilLady · 07/12/2022 08:04

Morning all. Day 7:

F&M: A perfume from Maison Matine. Not a brand I’ve tried before, so looking forward to trying this. Makes up somewhat for yesterday’s foot lotion.

Barbara Sturm Good C: It’s a travel size of the Vit C serum. Very happy with this. While I’d never pay the overinflated prices, I do like her products and use Vit C serums daily.

LiB: Pretty dinky Uoma lipstick in a brown neutral colour.Shade looks a bit too brown for me. A DoD from LiB for me.

Morning! Day 7 in Elle was Eve Lom rescue mask. 50ml. I love a good mask so will look forward to trying this on Sunday. Might help my skin recover from the Xmas party on Friday night 🤣
So far I'm really pleased. Last year I had the feel unique one which was nice but definitely feel the Elle one has more high end products in so far.
Jealous of those who have multiple ones lol my husband got me this one as part of my Xmas present (he brought mine last year too) think he'd be offended though if I went and brought another

Ponks · 07/12/2022 08:19

No7 calendar today has a little bottle of Protect and Perfect cleansing water, I don't normally use these but tried it this morning and it was fine.

onlyatchristmastime · 07/12/2022 09:13

L’O today was shower gel from a different range which I promptly forgot to take in the shower and so had to use Aldi instead 😂 I’m determined not to save these for best (except for perhaps a day or two if I’ve something on on a weekend) I always find myself using my bottom tier stuff while samples of nice things pile up and clutter my room!

ThePoshUns · 07/12/2022 09:42

Tisserand de-stress spray in H&B today. All good so far.

Pinenu · 07/12/2022 12:41

Coconut hand cream in Body Shop, Pat McGrath blush in Selfridges and some Christmas tea from Degusta.

loz12345 · 07/12/2022 20:13

Sephora was a 30ml renight cream I haven’t tried anything by comfort zone and really love a good night cream so looking forward to using it although I am going to wait until the weekend I only go into the office once ever couple of weeks so the night before isn’t a good time to try something new. There was also a virtue exfoliating scalp treatment 15ml which is also a new product to me

The LinB brown neutral lip was a blast from the 90s past and wore it to work. Debenhams was a full size red Stilla liquid lip - big fan of this lipstick and have it in sample size so it was one of the things that justified the calendar. I like a bright lipstick though….
