Does a nightdress exist...

...that:

  • is not frumpy (no twee sprigs of flowers, high neckline)
  • is not silky with itchy lace
  • does not have stupid slogans on it!
If so, I haven't found it yet! Would love one with short sleeves/no sleeves but stlish and comfy. Any recommendations?

Princesse Tam Tam, although they are a bit skimpy for my advanced years.

How about this from Damart? www.damart.co.uk/nightdress-70503-3.html

I have a fab one from M&S but it is a couple of years old. Cotton jersey, full length, grey with tiny white stars and spots on. Good nighties are hard to come by I find.

Dagsmejan. dagsmejan.co.uk

Swedish company. Not frumpy or twee, no lace, no pattern, no slogans. Nice range of colours. High tech fabric. A bit spendy but amazingly comfy.

They do pyjamas as well as sleeveless, short sleeved and long sleeved nighties.

I'm very happy with my two sleepshirts. I'm short so they are like mid length nighties for me. Can recommend highly.

This looks nice - I like proper sleeves on my nightdresses to keep my shoulders warm while I read in bed.

I haven't worn a nightdress since I was a teenager but this thread is making me realise what I am missing!

If possible, look for bamboo jersey. I have one from Daniadown (I don't think it's available in UK) that is so nice. T-shirt style that hits the knee, it has double material in the front top, so not so revealing for going braless. What a clever idea, and it adds no warmth.

I have this one in with colour ways. Has bra type support inside.

Perhaps one of these would suit: -

I'm so glad you asked this question OP
I've been looking for ages.

Oddly, I never thought of M&S . I really like what they've got. Thanks for the links.

Sorry realised you said short sleeves but others might like these.

Any chance you sew? I solved this problem by making my own. There is a lovely Simplicity pattern I've now made 5 or so times in various different fabrics.
