Rapid Lash - be careful!

I was using Rapid Last for a couple of months and applied at night before bed as it advises. What I have now realised is that there's hair growing under my eyes and, as I have dark hair, it's quite noticeable. What must have happened is that the serum has soaked into the skin below my eyes whilst I slept. I had wondered why I was getting hair growth there when I've never had hair there before but, of course, our skin has hair follicles everywhere even if not visible.

It has also caused dark circles under my eyes. I thought the discoloration was lack of sleep and a poor diet of late but I've never had "panda" eyes before even with less sleep and a worse diet. It all coincides with using Rapid Lash.

Suffice to say, I have binned Rapid Lash. It isn't worth it.

Now how to get rid of my furry, panda eyes. I wish I had known that this could have happened.

Has this happened to anyone else?

No, but from UK lash it made my surrounding skin red and peeling, was really sore

KnickerlessParsons · 20/11/2022 09:53

Hair can't grow where it hasn't previously grown. Rapid Lash can't create hair follicles where you didn't have them before! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sheilascarface · 20/11/2022 09:55

Yeah I returned mine because of this.

You have hair everywhere on your skin though apart from palms and soles of feet. OP's problem is before she had short, soft, invisible to the naked eye hair and now it's been enhanced to be visible.

User181019 · 20/11/2022 13:54

@bloodyeverlastinghell thanks, that's right. I know our skin is covered in hair follicles but mine were never visible on the face. Now I have dark, visible hair under each corner of my eyes! I read the instructions and lots and lots of reviews of Rapid Lash and wasn't aware this could happen. Hence why I wanted to post this to make others aware.

This happened to me with Nyk1 lash serum, both under the eyes/very top of cheek bones and also on my eyelids behind the lash line. The hair eventually went away when I stopped using. I'm now using UK Lash which seems to work much more slowly but so far, no problem. I messaged customer service at Nyk1 but got no reply.

Bigslippers · 20/11/2022 14:12

Same happened with me several years ago. It worked on my lashes but like you it darkened my under eyes.

VladmirsPoutine · 20/11/2022 14:13

WTF!!! Hair growing out from inside/under your eyelid! I thought that serum was magic stuff but had to give it up because it's far too pricey.

LuciferRising · 20/11/2022 14:13

I've started using UKLash, but some of the reviews about discolourisation have me worried.

Sheilascarface · 20/11/2022 14:19

yeah I don’t play around with my eyes.

peoplearepeople · 20/11/2022 16:21

I had exactly the same thing. There were always fine very light hairs on my face under my eyes towards the outer edge that weren't at all noticable before at all. Rapidlash made them thicker and darker looking and very noticable!

User181019 · 20/11/2022 16:38

@Bigslippers did the dark circles disappear after your stopped using the serum? I hope mine will. I stopped it using it a month ago (only put two and two together today) but the dark circles are still there 😥

@Sheilascarface lesson learnt and never again for me. Ironically, I don't even wear make up but have really sparse and stubby eye lashes and wanted to give it a try. On the plus side, this has made me appreciate what I had naturally before.

@peoplearepeople sorry to hear this. Did the hair disappear? Or how did you get rid of it? Hope you don't mind me asking as I'm not sure what to do about mine!

Try Revitalash instead. No issues and I have used it for a long time.

crispinglovershighkick · 20/11/2022 18:48

Yup happened to me too. The solution was to put a thin film of Vaseline around the eye first and to use less product (one drop for both eyes) less frequently. You do need to use it every day for a week or two for it to start working but then I knock it back to two or three times a week (eventually once a week to maintain) and the side effects are reduced.

VisitingThem · 20/11/2022 19:39

Does it not list this as side effects? Its the same ingredient as glaucoma medication, i used to take in one eye over 10 years ago and still have longer lashes on that side. Honestly dont know how they get away with these'lash serums'.

Me too. UK Lash didn’t care. Told me I must be using it wrong. No I definitely wasn’t. Prior to that I had used Revitalash and had brilliant results for years. Then I had the discolouration and itchy eyes from that.

Same ingredients though isn’t it?

dontgobaconmyheart · 20/11/2022 23:09

Fascinating really, albeit obviously not the desired effect, it makes sense. At least it should subside if you discontinue use, the results on lashes definitely aren't permanent.

I no longer use it (just think it's hugely expensive and my eyelashes are realistically fine) but I used to apply mine sparingly with a mascara wand, never went overly near the lashline, wait for it to dry before going to bed because I have sensitive skin and didn't want it around my eyelid. You could always hold a tissue underneath while applying .

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/11/2022 20:45

@Sheilascarface not a clue but I haven't had any issues with it at all.

chloechloe · 21/11/2022 21:34

I’ve used Revitalash for years and never had any problems, it’s amazing stuff!

It shouldn’t be going anywhere near your skin though - I close my eye and apply it to the upper lash line from above a few mm from the lash line. One swipe only and it dries before I sleep.

RunnyPaint · 21/11/2022 21:41

@VisitingThem, do you mind me asking how you got to the point of no longer needing glaucoma meds for one eye? I've been taking it in one eye for 3 months to reduce eye pressure and am beginning to get a bit of a Clockwork Orange vibe...

I took it for 5 years from age 16 then my Dr decided to try taking me off and we found pressure ok, I get pressure checked every year at least now.

Mosaic123 · 21/11/2022 23:26

I was thinking it might be great stuff for those with thinning hair on their heads though.

Especially if you have a little patch or two.

Just a thought.

Chloefairydust · 22/11/2022 04:06

I have started using caster oil instead of lash serum, I like that it’s natural and my lashes seem glossier and thicker

Ladyofthelake53 · 22/11/2022 04:48

Some eyelash serums can change the colour of your eyes as well I've heard
