I have 3 lobe piercings but have always been squeamish about piercing anywhere other than that! I really want this done though. Can anyone tell me.how much does it hurt at the time and afterwards and how was you healing?
I really dont know why I'm so scared of it, but I am!

Barely hurt at all. I had mine done in July and it's no problem at all. Pain in the bum for AirPods but otherwise trouble free. I love it!

Kdub · 16/11/2022 17:13

Didn't hurt much at all and much easier for healing then my helix. Love mine.

kenadams86 · 16/11/2022 17:13

I find cartilage piercings hurt less than lobe piercings. Really not bad at all

SunshineLoving · 16/11/2022 17:14

I had mine done years ago. I must have been about 14.

I can't remember it hurting much when I had it pierced. I remember the healing being fine too.

I would say that it's one of the least painful piercings. Just make sure that you look after it, proper cleaning twice a day, and you should be absolutely fine.

mrsed1987 · 16/11/2022 17:21

Wow I had mine done many years ago but I was in a lot of pain during and for a few days after, shooting pains down my jaw line. I did have other piercings done at the same time though so maybe it was a bit much lol

muststopdrinking · 16/11/2022 17:25

I had mine done just over a year ago. Really didn't hurt at all but they do take a while to fully heal, you just have to be mindful to not sleep on it for a while. And as a PP said, a bugger with AirPods!

VerifiedBot2351 · 16/11/2022 17:33

It doesn’t hurt as much as most other piercings. Get a neck pillow, one of those U-shaped travel ones, and use that in bed so your ear goes in the hole.

Dhama · 16/11/2022 17:37

Mine didn’t hurt but took ages to heal properly. It’s put me off having an industrial piercing for years if I’m honest.

@Rockbird @muststopdrinking Please could you expand on the AirPods issue with the tragus piercing? I sooooo want it done but I use AirPods every night to listen to a book. Can you use AirPods at all when healing? Can you use AirPods ok once healed/post downsized? Thank you :)

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 13/02/2023 20:29

Wasn’t that painful having it done, but it did take aaages to fully heal. I like to wear earplugs at night and although I still can, I find it irritates the piercing quite a bit even though it’s been a good few years since I had it done.

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 13/02/2023 21:24

@MonicaGellerHyphenBing Thank you - I'm so torn! I rely on my AirPods to fall asleep, maybe I should just try using one instead of two to see if thats good enough. My conch/forward helix/helixs have taken about a year to heal, im a slow healer and am kind of expecting the trigs to be worse as its a bit thicker. I'll update if I get it done, I am thinking of going Friday after a dentist appointment - glutton for punishment ha!

Agree.

I've had helix, forward helix and nose pierced. None were as painful as earlobes IMO.

doubleshift · 13/02/2023 22:49

I was worried about it being an irritation with my AirPods so I had quite a low forward helix instead

doubleshift · 13/02/2023 22:50

Healed well whereas my 2nd lobe still gets angry with me!

Isabelle70 · 13/02/2023 22:50

I had mine done 14 months ago and it didn't hurt at all just a strange sensation. It was healing really well until the hairdresser battered it when he was washing my hair so it then took 8 months to heal and I did think I would have to take it out a few times.
I have noticed I have more eye wrinkles on the side I have slept on for the last year!

Missymare · 13/02/2023 22:52

Had mine done a few years ago and it healed up quickly. Like one of the previous posters said it can be a bit tricky with air pods but I just move the back of the piercing out if the way iyswim.

Simplyuglyineveryway · 14/02/2023 11:59

I had mine done a few years ago after putting it off for ages. I was so worried it was going to hurt a lot but was my easiest least painful piercing and I have several ear piercings (lobe and cartilage).
Go for it!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 14/02/2023 12:05

I want mine done as well. I had my helix done October last year and I really want my tragus and forward helix. Thing putting me off is expense as the hood piercer near me is £50 a time so would be £100 easily with jewellery choice.
also want to change my helix to a ring as it’s currently a stud that digs in.

my helix didn’t hurt at all and I’ve heard the tragus doesn’t either. Friend has conch done and it’s still playing up now. Hers keeps going swollen behind her ear.

I was advised not to wear my AirPods in the pierced ear at all when healing. It's mostly to do with hygiene but would also have been really uncomfortable. I can wear them now though with no issues, especially since I've changed down the jewellery length.

muststopdrinking · 14/02/2023 18:27

Just wear one AirPod in the other ear, that worked fine for me Smile

ImAvingOops · 14/02/2023 21:09

Had mine done about a year ago and I love it. I wear a small sparkly stud which doesn't irritate at all - unlike my lobe earrings.
It took a good 7 weeks to heal properly and and I had to be really careful. My sister in law had hers done at the same time and her baby bashed her in the head and it took ages to settle down after that. It wasn't too painful to get done but was swollen for a while and I couldn't sleep on it for a while.

It does get in the way a little with the AirPods though

Popplcroft · 14/02/2023 21:11

I had to take mine out because I wear ear plugs at night and it kept irritating. Try and anti-tragus?

didn’t find either hurt much at all.

Popplcroft · 14/02/2023 21:12

Tragus’ take 6-9 months to heal and definitely shouldn’t be swapped at 7 weeks!

Doremisofarsogood · 14/02/2023 21:17

Mine was really sore for at least a week after (6 years ago). Couldn't lie on that side for ages. All healed fine though and changed it after about 6 months. I do find it tricky to find the right shape earphones though!

Swiftbushome · 17/02/2023 15:51

Got my tragus done today! Didn't really hurt at all. Either at the time or now. I'm really happy with it ☺️
