Tragus piercing

I have 3 lobe piercings but have always been squeamish about piercing anywhere other than that! I really want this done though. Can anyone tell me.how much does it hurt at the time and afterwards and how was you healing?
I really dont know why I'm so scared of it, but I am!

I use my AirPods at night too. While it was healing I stuck to one AirPod and it was ok. Not perfect but ok. After about 5 months I could put the other one back in but because the stud is so long I have to push it forward to get the AirPod in so the stud sticks out at the front. 7 months down the line now that's still the case but it's my fault for being too lazy to go and get the stud shortened. That's the only issue with it now.

The AirPods thing put me off getting my tragus done for ages, I wish I'd just got it done sooner.

Actually it was probably more like 3 months to use the second AirPod again.

My DD had a tragus piercing (I think at 15yo) done with a needle at a reputable tattooist (parental consent required etc)
Healed fine but she put in a thinner stud once healed and when she tried a thicker one it was too painful so she let it heal up .

I have a daith , kept my original hoop in still ( over a year ) . I only wear earbuds in the other ear

Painwise I;d say minimal . Bit of pressure , didn't even get the "crunch" that DD had . Slight jawache after .
DD is an utter Needle No No but she's fine with piercings (also had her helix done but it got caught at the hairdressers <ouch> ) and her bellybutton which is still A1 .

Had her helix done but it got caught at the hairdressers <ouch>

This happened to me faaar too many times. One even managed to pull a ring out with a comb. Ouch indeed.

I said last month I would update if I got my tragus pierced, after much umming and ahhhing worrying about not being able to use AirPods to fall asleep with, I got it done anyway and I love it so much! Hardly hurt having it done and barely any throbbing after, in fact by the evening I couldn't feel it was there. Wish I had it done sooner, it's so pretty. I just cannot wait to downsize the post (8mm) as I really dislike being able to see the post and disc but its worth it.Been using just one AirPod at night and it does the job, but obviously not as good as having both. Happy :)

@PinkCosYouAreSoVery that's great well done. I'm so glad you like it. Mine really didn't hurt either. And healing wise it's been fine so far (I'm 4 weeks past). Hopefully yours will be the same

Those with a forward helix - do they get caught at all?
I'm thinking masks as I wear one at work and I'd need to be a bit more careful donning and doffing them !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/03/2023 00:43

Had my forward helix done today , got a beautiful tiny crystal stud .
Really pretty you'd have to examine my ears quite close to see it which is what I was after (not people being close to my ears , but being very inconspicuos )
Only felt a minimal sharp point then just the fiddly bit to apply the jewellry .

Might put a photo up later

Pleasepleasepleaseno · 26/03/2023 09:03

That's great. I got a mid helix done yesterday too and I love it as well :)

How are you doing @Pleasepleasepleaseno

I haven't twisted mine or really touched it at all apart from some salt water spray .
It's tender-ish if I press near the piercing which doh it would be 'cos I had a needle in there then a piece of metal Grin

I was thinking of getting another lobe done at some time .....

evilharpy · 08/04/2023 09:58

I like the look of a pierced tragus but couldn't cope with not being able to use my headphones (Samsung buds rather than airpods but same deal).

I got a forward helix done a few weeks ago which I love and doesn't interfere with headphones or get caught in hairbrushes etc (unlike the helix I had done at the same time, keeps getting caught by my hair in the shower).

Barely hurt at all. I had mine done in July and it's no problem at all. Pain in the bum for AirPods but otherwise trouble free. I love it!

Exactly this for me too. Pain free and healed soooo quickly

Pleasepleasepleaseno · 08/04/2023 11:47

My tragus seems to be healing great as far as I can tell. I did get a bump for a while after I accidentally slept on it one night but that's gone and it looks good now. I think I'm 7 weeks since it was done so hoping I'll be one of those lucky people who heal in 3 months. The helix has had no problems at all. I somehow haven't even caught it once. I think it helps that I have curly hair so I never actually brush it, just run my fingers through when it's wet. 2 weeks now for that one. I got a stacked love at the same time as the tragus though and that's a bit of a disaster. It's at a weird angle - I don't know if it was pierced badly (I suspect this is the case tbh) or if maybe it moved the night I accidentally slept on my ear. Either way I'm annoyed. Even if it does heal, which who knows, I think I'll struggle to get jewellery in in the future because the front is higher than the back. The new (better) piercer I went to for the helix said it looks like it's somehow gone through cartilage when she checked it 🙄

Stacked lobe obviously. Not a stacked love

I got mine done about 13 years ago and honestly a breeze. If you have the helix done that's more painful than tragus. Xxx
