just read the word cropped and I thought that’s it.

Maybe second place is high-rise.

This is the vegan sausage / burger shape argument but in clothing form. It doesn't matter what the fabric is called, just that it isn't made of dead animals.

Not really, as leather is the name of a material. A closer analogy would be if a product was described as "vegan meat". It doesn't make sense because it's not meat.

Sausage and burger really just describes a shaped savoury foodstuff designed to be eaten in a bun. They can be made of anything.

I don't think anyone objects to imitation leather items existing, just the nomenclature. Makes it difficult to filter out non-leather items from searches and so on.

‘Animal leather’ so unethical and really grosses me out to think of wearing the skin of another being on you.
Same would go for fur and other animal products.

Comfy in relation to shoes.

But vegan leather doesn’t exist. It’s just plastic. Why not say plastic?

@BoobsAhoy cos not all faux or vegan leather is plastic? Because it’s obvious what it means when an item is described as faux or vegan leather?

Because not all vegan leather is made of plastic.

Why are people so opposed to finding kinder alternatives to animal skin?

The first time I saw something labelled as vegan leather I assumed it must have been a way of describing real leather derived 100% as a byproduct. It is a confusing term! IMO it would be clearer to call it what it actually is, then put vegan leather in brackets, eg. polyurethane (vegan leather).

Naming it properly is important because faux leather made from PU/PVC is non degradable material derived from crude oil and destined for landfill; whereas faux leather made from natural material such as cork has potential to be derived from sustainably managed woodlands and ultimately degradable at the end of its life.

Witty. I cannot stand people (invariably smugly) talking about anything “witty” in relation to clothing or home decor.

What's wrong with sustainable? I have just bought some jeans from M and S that are sustainable.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 08/11/2022 07:39

Knee length. Especially when the photo shows the model hunched forward in a desperate attempt to make the hem of one that's five sizes too large for her cover her pubis, chances are that even with a 27'' inside leg like mine, I'd still need a bikini wax to wear it without tights.

And anklegrazer or 7/8ths. It means it'll be too long and also too short because it'll finish somewhere over my foot or halfway up my shin. And can't be altered without screwing up the proportions.

And borg/Teddy bear. It's a fleece. A nylon fleece like your nan wore 20 years ago and started smelling dodgy out of the wash within a couple of months.
