Silk pillowcases…worth it?

Are these any good?!! I’m now of a certain age and wake with creases on my face, which then don’t disappear for about two hours!

Also, heard they are good for the hair?
If they are recommended, are there any good ones, slightly cheaper than Blissy or are they best?!

thanks

I don't think they've done much for my hair but I am definitely waking up crease free these days! Plus they're just lovely to sleep on.

surlycurly · 31/10/2022 23:30

I love them. I'm also crease free. But spend the money and get decent ones. The satin ones aren't the same.

roaringmouse · 01/11/2022 00:01

Yes, totally.

AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2022 00:03

Proper silk ones, yes they're lovely, definitely worth it.

onedayiwillflyaway1 · 01/11/2022 00:04

Yes

sausage767 · 01/11/2022 00:04

I didn’t find silk worth all the maintenance. I use pure bamboo and change them several times per week. Bamboo is really easy care.

BananaCocktails · 01/11/2022 00:08

Good for Afro hair , Helps keep it Smooth while sleeping as for wrinkles unless you have deep wrinkles I don’t see it making much difference . Most pillowcases are actually satin rather than real silk. And they’re not breathable

doittwice · 01/11/2022 00:11

What's the best brand and price range to get silk pillowcases that really work?

Trumpton · 01/11/2022 00:13

Lily Silk are good and John Lewis.
I just throw mine into a normal wash by the way.
I always take one with me when I go away.

Thank you! I've been using satin pillowcases because silk isn't cruelty free, but I've been wanting to try a few different things as well.

Pasithean · 01/11/2022 00:26

Second the bamboo ones much better.

Crispsmakemehappy · 01/11/2022 00:47

Suggestions for best ones to get?

Redup · 01/11/2022 00:52

Satin is NOTHING like silk and is usually cheap and nasty and synthetic.

I have only tried John Lewis silk pillowcases so can't comment on other makes but I'm really pleased with JL. Have several sets on the go cos i change them regularly and I've only had an issue with one set in 9 years. I too take them with me when I go on holiday (pillowcases, not pillows)

IndigoC · 01/11/2022 01:25

Third the bamboo ones. Soft and easy care.

Badnewsoracle · 01/11/2022 01:49

I have this one:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B005F5M8TG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Feels lovely, though I can't say I've noticed a difference.

WildFlowerBees · 01/11/2022 02:36

Have used bamboo for a few years, easy to care for cruelty free and I never wake up with a creased face.

WrinklesShminkles · 01/11/2022 10:39

I bought two £40 silk ones from This is Silk's archive sale - seem good quality, very nice to sleep on and have washed well. Hair and skin both happier.

I have satin ones as have curly hair. Do seem to help my face as well.

Arenanewbie · 01/11/2022 18:05

Please tell me that they are good. I’ve just ordered one from John Lewis for DD’s Christmas present

Did you get the John Lewis one? I bought one recently and it's good! I finally replaced my 5 year old one (don't judge) and I really noticed the difference.

SporkAndMonday · 01/11/2022 19:42

I get far fewer lines on my face and my hair is much more manageable. When I use a cotton one I get a massive line down my face

jewishmum · 01/11/2022 19:45

Satin is just as good for skin and hair.

Arenanewbie · 01/11/2022 19:47

@SporkAndMonday yes, I’ve chosen latte, hope DD will like it .
How did you wash it by the way?

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 01/11/2022 19:48

Yes to silk pillowcases! They’re so much better for skin and hair. Also, less bacteria buildup than cotton.

I machine wash on 30. No problems with that at all.
