Oh god, are we the only family that spend the day in PJs or comfies?

We usually go for 'lounge wear'.

No your not....... Only me and my boys so will be in just that🤗

No you aren't.

We’ve been alone (just me, DH and D.C.) for the last 3 Christmases, so I’ve been in slouchy loungewear or PJs and it’s been bliss.

Going to family this year, though, so gotta up my game. I’ve got a nice black velvet A line skirt from Monsoon with gold snowflakes on it - the skirt of thing you’d literally only wear at Christmas - so I’m going to wear that with tights and a roll neck.

ArabeI · 30/10/2022 15:09

I love those velvet dresses from the beginning of the thread (am yet to finish reading).

I'm considering wearing a black velvet scoop back top, with three quarter length sleeves, with a burgundy pleated silk-type skirt. Or going casual with a jumper with same skirt.

Lwren · 30/10/2022 15:37

I used to love jarmies for Xmas day when it was just me and my eldest son but now I've a small team of hooligans and extended family I really at the least need a bra and some mascara on.
They don't need to see my swinging tits on any occasion 🤣🤣

I'm thinking I need something that doesn't make me sweat like I'm running from freddy kruger but is also festive so I'm hoping to pinch ideas.

I'm also chubby and can't wear heels 🤣

My family do dress up for Xmas but my DHs family don't (wear jammies). However, we don't wear shoes indoors so it's nice clothes plus slippers or fuzzy socks!

DelphiniumBlue · 30/10/2022 15:47

I'm cooking Christmas dinner, so anything I wear will be kitchen-friendly: no trailing sleeves/hems, no heels, and something either has a shirt front or low neck so I don't get too hot!
I might wear my Hush Dahlia dress with leggings
This dress

BiteyShark · 30/10/2022 15:52

Dog walking gear in the morning then 'lounge wear' afterwards.

Just DH, me and the dog and comfort is the key.

Parker231 · 04/11/2022 15:21

Three generations all in pj’s. My favourite tradition.

shinynewapple22 · 04/11/2022 16:17

I have a black thin knit jumper dress with silver snow flakes on which I wore when we went out for a meal last Christmas. I may put that on in the evening when DS and his GF come round . During the day I shall wear my sparkly Christmas tree print sweatshirt with joggers or other comfy trousers .

shinynewapple22 · 04/11/2022 16:21

I like that Hush dress @DelphiniumBlue. I ordered it last year but had to send back as it came up about two sizes too large .

GreenBlueSea · 04/11/2022 21:32

We have a long standing tradition of getting outfits from charity shops on a theme. It benefits charity and it means that no-one feels they have to buy anything expensive.
So sometimes the theme is "wear tartan" ,one year we all wore blue ballgowns/suits, one year it was "dress like an elf"
One year we all dressed as nuns and sung music from the sound of music all day.

MistyRock · 05/11/2022 00:30

I've just bought myself a jumper dress. Nothing exciting but I feel nice in them.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/11/2022 00:39

No idea. Something I'll have packed and which will be suitable for mass and to take me through the day.

Whatsleftnow · 05/11/2022 07:28

Whatever I wear will be covered by an apron so there doesn’t seem much point.

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/11/2022 08:26

We are wearing matching pajamas, yes we are and I have no shame ☺️

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/11/2022 08:39

Something that won’t be ruined if I splash fat/juices from the roasting tin on it, because I couldn’t be bothered (again) to find my sole apron and put it on.

jay55 · 05/11/2022 09:01

Usually wear a jumper dress.
But I've bought this recently and so will wear it with jeans

I have a green Seasalt dress that is very comfortable and ideal for eating large amounts of food in.

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 05/11/2022 09:57

This is making me (faux) sad 🤣

Like @aliceinshackles, I'll be working - out of the house from 0530 until anywhere between 1900 and 2100, so I'll be in full operational uniform (short sleeves as I'm in another country so our temps will be between 30 and 40 degrees), at certain times with full PPE on top (gown mask glasses gloves). It's exhausting but we make the best of it.

We are allowed to add, for that one day, festive earrings or maybe deely bopper headband for eg, but it has to be easily removable as depending on the job, it's not always appropriate.

There's always good camaraderie with colleagues and (some) patients, so it's a bit disappointing not to get to wear something sparkly, but ultimately I love my job, so I don't mind too much.

Todaynotalways · 05/11/2022 10:03

Wide leg dark silver lame trousers (stretchy).

Cream slouchy cashmere jumper with sequin pattern.

Jumper to be switched for similar in black for cooking and eating. For obvious slattern reasons.

This is gorgeous. I am not pregnant but it would easily encompass my post-caesarean tummy!

WolfHowl · 05/11/2022 11:45

I am picturing the nun day @GreenBlueSea , Your family sound like fun.
