Non-senders on Vinted

I seem to have developed a Vinted habit Blush but it really gets on my nerves when sellers don't send items - I don't know if I've just been unlucky but I reckon I've had about a 60% success rate! I wouldn't mind so much if they actually cancelled, but it's the thing of allowing it to drag on and then auto cancel which drives me mad.

Is there any comeback for sellers who do this? Do they get a "warning"? I think this is the case for Ebay.

I don't know but I had this happen to me. Bought a jumper and it wasn't sent after about a week so I messaged the seller, she said "oh yeah hopefully I'll get it out tomorrow"
Then a few days later it was cancelled, I don't know if the seller cancelled or vinted but I got a refund about five days later.
I didn't know it was that common it was a first for me.

Ghislainedefeligonde · 26/10/2022 16:14

I’ve only had this once and the person got in touch and apologised and then sold it to me at prev agreed price
Im more surprised at people agreeing to buy something then not blimin well paying! Or responding to messages. Very odd!

Whitney168 · 26/10/2022 16:16

I've only bought two things on Vinted so far, and one of them was eventually cancelled yesterday after the seller ignored the sale and a follow-up message (although the app showed her as having been online).

In the end, I requested cancellation and it came through a few days later, don't know if it was my request or an auto-cancel as her lack of response timed the sale out. Very irritating!

Looking at how long some of the items had been listed for though, it did make me think that perhaps ebay is the better model after all, as at least you can list it and ensure the sale will close at a time you can deal with it, rather than it coming at a mad work time/when you're getting married/while you're on holiday etc. weeks later.

digestivebiscu1t · 26/10/2022 16:23

Wow, it seems quite common, then! So weird. I wonder how many are cheap items, ie people list a whole load of things and then 3 weeks later someone buys a £2 t-shirt and they can't be bothered to parcel it up etc. Although in my case they've been around the £10-15 mark, having said that.

There is a holiday setting but I guess some sellers might not have spotted that (I only just did!)

I posted about Vinted a while ago as have had similar problems. Vinted would be so much better if the platform enforced some ‘rules’ so repeat offenders get banned or something. My last purchase took ages to arrive and was then dirty (despite being described as ‘perfect condition’) Vinted eventually refunded, but it took about 5 weeks from purchase to delivery and then refund. It really puts me off there. Plus so many fake sellers on there.

Redburnett · 26/10/2022 16:43

It has just happened to me, autocancelled because seller failed to send. When I checked the reviews the seller had several similar negative feedbacks. I have also found that sellers on Vinted are, in general, slower to post than ebay sellers.

digestivebiscu1t · 26/10/2022 16:53

I'm coming to the conclusion that Vinted is great when both seller and buyer are engaged, helpful, sensible people. It falls apart when they're not..!

I’ve been on Vinted for a year ordering a couple a month some months. Only had one item cancelled that actually was quite an old posting anyway and I hadn’t noticed. I’ve not had an issues at all tbh but I may have just been lucky.

I do check feedback and wouldn’t probably buy from people with negative comments or those that have been cancelled regularly.

It's possibly because it's only after you've agreed a price, do you see the full amount with fees and postage - I think some people forget that! And change their mind.

sammielouise · 26/10/2022 17:27

I love Vinted but really don't like that if you get a damaged or non described item you have to pay to return it! Shouldn't be the case!

RoseValleyRambles · 26/10/2022 17:28

Check reviews and overall rating before you buy. Vinted penalise non senders with negative feedback. You can also see when someone was last on - if it's too long ago, avoid.

mummyh2016 · 26/10/2022 17:37

The seller gets an automated 1* review if items aren't sent.

Namechangehereandnow · 26/10/2022 17:40

Blimey! I sell on vinted and always post same day or next day - i parcel everything up well, whether it’s a £1 item or £25 item. My bug bears are when buyers haggle you on a £1 item! Really?! Also, when buyers want something, you agree, you reserve it for them, then you never hear from them again! I the whole though, I love vinted!

happyfishcoco · 26/10/2022 17:56

they are not sending items, because they don't notice the items have been sold.
so you have to wait for auto-cancel.

Ladyofthepeonies · 26/10/2022 17:59

I’ve only bought 2 things and both of them had to contact the seller to get them to send it. It does seem to fall down at this point. Not sure I’ll bother again

Flamingosarentreal · 26/10/2022 18:00

I sell on vinted and sometimes have been slow with sending because of all the messages saying items have been favourited which has meant I missed the one saying item has sold.

really?? haggle on £1 item? how!!! lol
for me, when people try to ask for half price it takes the piss.

HammerheadCorvette · 26/10/2022 18:16

I've had 3 non-senders out of rather a lot of orders. Now I check when they were seen last, when they last loaded anything and every review. Although my latest non sender had a whole bunch of recent reviews - equal split between praising her quick sending and complaining about not receiving anything. Within the same week!

caggie3 · 26/10/2022 18:22

This reminded me I have to post some bloody shoes tomorrow or it'll auto cancel. I keep forgetting unselect yodel store to door as the only drop off point is half an hour from me but the opposite direction to work and school and I just can't be bothered to drive in for a £4 pair of shoes. I don't want to cancel as I get auto bad feedback then and I sell quite a bit on there.

InsomniacVampire · 26/10/2022 19:11

Biggest pete peeve- I make an offer, they accept, and then dont send. Why accept if they were not happy?
I have had a few cancelled items. Two people were on holiday, but never let me know about it, they just though Id wait a month for them sending things out.
A few never got back in touch, and one I messaged today after the item was cancelled after a week of no postage and I saw it back on their page... II asked why they havent posted if they were still selling the item and the reply was "Huh?".

If the shoes you are selling are about to be auto cancelled your buyer must have been waiting for ages for you to post them!
I would not be happy with you!

Literally they offer 80p! I’ve had someone not buy it as I wouldn’t accept the 80p. I do t mind people making an offer but that’s ridiculous .. and as you say, they offer like £5 for a £25 item 🫤

ClearButtons · 26/10/2022 19:39

I think with some, they put the items on ages ago and then forget about them. I only either buy things that have recently uploaded or message the seller first and get a reply before I buy

Completely agree. It is wrong
