Registry Office Wedding

Daydreamer12345 · 19/10/2022 21:19

Have booked to get married in December at a registry office.
There won’t be any guests and just 2 family members as witnesses along with my children.

It’s 9.30 in the morning and obviously won’t be turning up in full on white dress nor do I want to rock up in jeans!!

What on earth would you wear?

Any help appreciated!

Whatever you want. I got married in jeans, fraggke rock T-shirt denim jacket and shitey farm wellies. Still going 17! Years later. A marriage is about two people. Do you

Rtmhwales · 20/10/2022 04:39

I got married in a casual white dress.

sashh · 20/10/2022 04:53

Are you buying something new? If not then what have you got?

What size are you?

What is your normal style?

What age are you?

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 20/10/2022 04:58

I’d want to wear something that really expresses my best self. And that I’d be happy to see and show in photos for decades to come. Preferably in silk or velvet, topped with a big furry coat.

Random picks:

This but not with black trousers.

Or maybe this.

Or this which is gorgeous.

Why not browse Net-a-Porter, or Matches Fashion or SSense UK - you’re sure to find something you love.

Creativecake · 20/10/2022 05:20

I had a registry office in November. I wore a Lon purple velvet dress.

Creativecake · 20/10/2022 05:21

*long

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 20/10/2022 06:06

Perhaps a suit?

Or a beautiful top and skirt ensemble?

Or a memorable dress. Furry jacket needed.

All things you could wear for years afterwards.

(I’ve really just picked sites that might have something interesting, or unfamiliar. I would far rather be dressing for your type of wedding than walking past a million eyes in a big white puffy frock.)

size UK 12
age 36

I’m more of a casual dresser. Usually in jeans/black trousers for work

I’d buy a white embroidered dress from Hope l& Ivy.

I like this but its a bit look at me www2.next.co.uk/gl9122s13/k13929#k13929

What about a knitted dress, or a dress with a fur shrug/bolero

These dress and jacket might be more mother of the bride

Capes seem popular at the moment, I love this one.

I'd buy a gorgeous trouser suit, they seem to be having a moment, and gorgeous heels.

If you're set on a dress, through, Ghost dresses are beautiful and very flattering.

Not so much set on a dress just not sure of a suitable alternative?

Not usually a suit kind of person

I just thought if you're usually a jeans and trouser person, you might be more comfortable in that than a dress.

I think this red velvet one from Reiss would be gorgeous for a December wedding: https://www.reiss.com/style/ST307529/C79006?gclid=Cj0KCQjw48OaBhDWARIsAMd966AcWo7ToYnRHOVDK6aQcjHGIftGTWYRgbc5xMUdvnQNJwQyWWmJQkaAuVzEALww_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#C79006

I like the thought of the white Massimo Dutti trouser suit I linked above for the ceremony, then the red velvet Reiss for the after party/going away outfit! Halloween Grin

EmergencyPoncho · 20/10/2022 13:20

I'm doing this next month and am wearing the Hadley cream midi dress from Allsaints, I can't link but it's there. Plus a velvet and sequinned kimono I have from yesteryear. I'm not sure what on my feet.

That’s a beautiful dress, I’m too lumpy to pull it off!!

No after party here haha, it really is just a quick in and out morning ceremony.
Husband to be is far too antisocial shy

@Daydreamer12345 - not sure if you’re seeing any of the links people have posted. You haven’t commented on any of them!

Check out the pretty dress company. They have some gorgeous dresses. Loads with long sleeves which would be ideal for a winter ceremony. I've had a few dresses from them ans they're amazing quality and very classy looking.
