Can you recommend shops? Feeling uninspired

Hi. Hoping someone can help. I need a wardrobe revamp but don't even know where to start. I'm 39, 5"4, size 8 but bottom heavy (think chunky short legs!).
Usually I'd shop in Superdry, next or Fatface but I'm not seeing anything in any of these that even suit me. Feel like I'm at that age where the things I like no longer suit me so I'd like to try something new, such as skirts and winter boots etc.
Any recommendations for where to go? Not overly expensive but happy to pay a bit more for good quality that will last.

Thank you

You need to upgrade to white company, white stuff and the like- John Lewis would maybe be a good start?

mrssmiling · 12/10/2022 16:27

John Lewis is a good suggestion - so many different brands. Their Kin range is worth a look, and JL stock lots of boots. Cos, Seasalt, Thought, Celtic and Co, Jigsaw, Boden, and the White Company too, for nice separates. This old thread provided lots of ideas - some companies I had never heard of. Might be worth a browse.

Mint Velvet?

Summerof22 · 13/10/2022 07:18

@AntiqueCestChic , Mint Velvet have 15% off at the moment.

jigsaw and whistles have mid season sale too.

I would also advise you to go to the physical shops (if you don’t already)

even though they probably hire the best photographers, lately I find that clothes look much better IRL and colours are nicer too.

Sezane, &Other Stories, Rouje, Maje, Sandro, The Outnet, Liberty, Ted Baker…. Any of those?

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 13/10/2022 09:16

I rediscovered Wallis the other day!

Quite like their stuff again and the quality has always been good

I have a few nice pieces from kin and john lewis... blazer, heavy cardigan, coat. I save to buy nice shoes and got some nice boots from white stuff and loafers from m&s. The rest i fill with basics from matalan which i think is cheap but good fit and quality... t shirts, leggings and a couple of lovely slouchy jumpers that were peanuts. I buy mostly neutral colours... navy, black, white, beige so i dont need a lot of clothes because everything goes with everything.
I got my kin dress and john lewis coat/blazer from e bay.
