@SmaugMum I also have wide feet size 5.5 and the 39 is pleasantly roomy without being too big. They're lovely, but definitely spring/summer only shoes because the sole is quite thin

neveradullmoment99 · 04/12/2022 13:49

SmaugMum · 04/12/2022 12:58

I’m more of a 5.5 with wide feet do you reckon size 39?

Yes, 6 I think would be fine. Especially if you have wide feet.

Stoic123 · 04/12/2022 14:39

First packages arrived.

Napkins and enamelware as expected and the raglan shirt in slate was lovely.

The smock dress is spice is going back but I liked the shape/style so ordered the olive colour to try. Very oversized (Size S good for 14-16).

faustina · 04/12/2022 15:23

Apologies for the rubbish light. Do you think this works? It's the previous Toast peacoat which was longer and more A line (and an Ebay bargain). It's quite a lot bigger than my usual size, but it hangs so nicely it doesn't seem to matter. Please tell me if Im being insane about keeping it!

Also - another interesting thing. Searching for this led me to the Toast Facebook page where they have previous seasons' pictures which you can't find on their website anymore. I've seen a lot of things currently in the sale which are actually from 2018! That very pretty embroidered wool dress for example

Countmeout · 04/12/2022 15:47

Really difficult to see in the light @faustina . If it feels good however keep it.

I am in London atm and has a quick visit to a Toast store.
Not tried it on yet but have fallen for this
www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/brushed-check-cotton-dress-rich-olive
It feels lovely.
Also loved this
www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/pleated-organic-needlecord-dress-antique-olive
but fear it might be shorter than I like on. I loved the colour.
will try to get a chance to try on tomorrow and report back.

Countmeout · 04/12/2022 15:48

Had - obvs have lost all typing ability as I am so excited about seeing things in person.

faustina · 04/12/2022 15:52

Enjoy your Christmassy visit! I like that needlecord dress very much but can see why you might think it's too short. Perhaps it has a big hem so you could make it longer?

I know the light is so rubbish here. That was as light as it got today!

@faustina, I’m wearing that very dress today! I bought it this archive sale. I’m wearing it with a navy collared seed check shirt underneath, plus navy Falke wool tights and my Toast/Solovair monkey boots (with laces changed as the originals were about 1 metre long; big design fault). I was helping DD1 at a Christmas fair for her Girlguiding Rangers pack as she’s raising money for a camp to Sweden next summer. The dress code was sparkly or festive so the embroidered dress it was. It is lovely and I am thrilled with it, especially at £95 instead of £495,

Yes, I intend to wear them in the summer as a replacement for Veja trainers. I love Veja but the soles don’t last, especially as I walk about eight miles a day. I bought a silver pair in August and had to bin them in October as the heels had worn down so much my socks and feet were getting sodden every time it rained (and, boy, does it rain where we live!)

faustina · 04/12/2022 16:56

@SmaugMum - it looked lovely in the Facebook pics too. It was nice to see the old catalogue photography

SmaugMum · 04/12/2022 17:06

A gratuitous bragging photo of some of the beautiful memory wire bracelets my DD1 (who is registered blind) has made from vintage Venetian and Czech glass beads, plus semi-precious stones. She has a little residual vision so she plans the designs and I do the grunt work!

She was really nervous about the fair as she is also autistic and lacks any confidence but he has made more than £150 in only two hours towards her Sweden trip!

Apologies for the non-Toast related and not-so-humble brag! 😅 I just know that you folks also appreciate lovely things.

Wow such talent ! Beautiful beautiful bracelets 👏👏👏❤️

dudsville · 04/12/2022 19:39

You and your daughter produce beautiful stuff @SmaugMum !

JustforToast · 04/12/2022 21:12

@faustina I think that coat looks great.

faustina · 04/12/2022 21:47

@JustforToast - thank you! It's been so dark here all day, it's quite hard to tell. It's very soft, not rigid at all, so it seems to fall really well. It's a size 14 so was a big gamble!

@SmaugMum please tell your daughter from me that her bracelets are stunning. she's very talented!

Thank you! I’m not easily brought to tears (tough Yorkshire lass) but I was so moved today to witness my DD, who has multiple disabilities and challenges, walk on air as so many people - even if they didn’t buy a bracelet - comment about how beautiful they are. She is ending the day full of confidence in her own abilities. If only I could bottle this for the tough times ahead!

@faustina, thank you, I will; so sorry for the non-Toast diversion!

@dudsville , thank you, that’s a lovely compliment.

AFingerofFudge · 04/12/2022 22:24

That's fabulous @SmaugMum - well done to your daughter. As someone who also has a visual impairment (although not registered blind) I am really impressed!

Thank you @AFingerofFudge , DD1 lost her sight at aged 11 so she has a strong visual memory. She has some residual vision (she has some functional sight in her left eye but none in her right) so she can manage to work very close up selecting the beads she wants. She was very strong on art before her vision fell of a cliff in Y7. She does the designing and the colour planning and I help with the threading of the beads onto the wire. DD has only just started to use a long cane but without that most people would not realise that she is registered blind.

applecatchers36 · 04/12/2022 22:40

smaugmum you sound a great team! She has a strong sense of design they are lovely...

OftenOrange · 04/12/2022 22:45

Looks brilliant , def a keeper.

Stoic123 · 04/12/2022 23:48

Lovely bracelets.

@faustina - I like the coat. Although oversized, it doesn't bulk you out too much.

Annie Hall rather than blimp.

ScottishMouse · 05/12/2022 06:41

The last parcel I ordered is coming today. The first one I ordered has been in Swansea for a week now, I’m worried it might never show up, and that is the one I really want. I also have another one that’s been in Swansea for 4 days, and one that hasn’t even shipped yet, so I’m assuming that one will be a cancellation. It’s quite the lottery, isn’t it?!
