Ok so about to purchase this (well I
Might wait till Black Friday or prime day)

A few final questions if you could help me out please

I thought IPL was permanent? Or am I confused? Is it different to the salon IPL

Also I think I want the prestige and want it for face legs bikini and underarms. Do I need the one with four attachments?

How much should I pay?

Any alternatives?

My boyfriend bought me the Prestige for my birthday. I've used it fortnightly as directed and have noticed that the hair is not growing back (or where it is, shows where I've missed a bit). I really rate it. I think you have to keep up a maintenance treatment with it.

mrsjimhopper · 02/10/2022 16:47

@MilliwaysUniverse thank you. Dog you have to use it fortnightly forever or can you stop at some point?

I have the old one, you use it weekly and then when your hair isn’t growing that fast you increase how often you need to do it by a week. I believe you still need to do every 2 months.

EdithGrantham · 02/10/2022 16:57

I haven't used mine for over a year (after using it consistently for maybe a year and a half) and the hair is still coming back much thinner than it was before I'd ever used the Lumea, need to get back in the routine as I was down to shaving my legs only once a month. I have to say it wasn't as effective on my underarms or bikini line though

Glitterspy · 02/10/2022 16:59

I’ve got one, if you wait til January you’ll get one in the sales, I got a big discount on mine.

It does work (I use mine on chin) but it isn’t permanent for me, so I’m going for salon treatments now as they use a much stronger laser.

mrsjimhopper · 02/10/2022 17:06

Thank you all. Very helpful but now I'm doubting if it's right for me.

I like the epilator for my legs and need something else for underarms and bikini.

I used mine as directed, every fortnight for a few months then cut right back. My legs are pretty much hair free all the time although I do get the occasional random hair. I sweep mine over my legs every few months (when I remember). The longest I've left it is probably four months and there was no change - still just the odd hair. I would say I've got the right hair/skin combo for it to be effective.

It's hands down one of the best things I've bought beauty wise.

mrsjimhopper · 02/10/2022 19:47

@UpToonGirl that sound promising.

Do you use underarms at all?

OP posts:
Sooverthisnow · 02/10/2022 19:51

I do underarms, legs and bikini line. My bikini line has never gown back. My legs and armpits are about 70% reduced. I used it religiously for about 6 months then stopped. I haven’t used it in ages and tend to do it in the run up to a holiday.

UpToonGirl · 02/10/2022 20:12

Bikini is totally hair free. Armpits - all dark hair is gone but it has been replaced with fine light downy hair, only need to shave it once a month or so probably not even that often.

mrsjimhopper · 02/10/2022 20:19

This sounds so good!

Did you all get the prestige with the four attachments?

OP posts:
MaryQueenOfSwots · 02/10/2022 21:16

I got the prestige in April on the monthly plan. I really love it. Worked best on legs and bikini line. Pretty good on underarms. Less good on moustache. I’m dark haired and fair skinned. I’m still doing every few weeks but legs pretty much no regrowth.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 02/10/2022 22:09

I have the bog standard one (and have dark hair & paleish skin) It's great.
I only use it approx every 6 weeks now.
It's worked really well on my legs and face. Still a bit of fuzz on my underarms but could probably get away with not shaving them now.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 02/10/2022 22:45

I've had pretty much the same experience as @UpToonGirl and my only regret is waiting so long to buy one.

stepfordwifey · 02/10/2022 23:00

I bought the corded Prestige one with 4 attachments. Didn't realise it was corded but it's great as it doesn't run out of charge like my previous Lumea.
My underarm hair is completely gone. Get the very occasional chin hair so I'm trying to remember to use it fortnightly to keep on top.
Legs are about 80% hair free. Tends to be in the kneecap area where it's hard to get a flat surface.
Forearm hairs are drastically reduced too.
Being dark haired with olive tones, it's stopped me having to shave alternate days. Legs are lovely and smooth.
Got mine in a deal on the Philips site.
Would really recommend it.

Sooverthisnow · 02/10/2022 23:05

Mine’s an old model, battery with 2 attachments. If I was buying again I’d go for corded. The battery struggled to get through bikini line, upper and lower legs and armpits on one charge.

scarfaceace · 03/10/2022 10:07

I've got the rechargeable one and love it. I use it on battery when I want a bit of privacy, otherwise I use it plugged in - best of both worlds.

Sunnidaze · 03/10/2022 12:01

Can I hijack this thread and ask what it's like to use it on your face? Post meno here and now have upper lip and chin hair that needs to go. Do you need to shave before use..ie, you have to shave your face?!?!

Sooverthisnow · 03/10/2022 13:44

Yes you have to shave first. It doesn’t work on grey hair though.

WhiteWhiteWhite · 12/10/2022 20:03

@mrsjimhopper Did you get one yet?

It's on offer on Prime day today & like you, I can't decide whether to go for it & whether two attachments is enough?

Been thinking about it for aaaages Grin

TheOriginalNutty · 12/10/2022 20:13

Just popped on to say if you order directly from Phillips you can pay monthly and return if not happy with it.

mrsjimhopper · 12/10/2022 21:03

@WhiteWhiteWhite it's in my basket Confused

£319 for all the attachments I figure want the bikini and face as a priority so I'm not sure I could use the leg one.

I'm agonising over this!

I have a corded one with 2 attachments. Use it on tash / chin, legs, underarms and bikini. Have had it about 2 years and just shave and zap every 2/3 weeks but these days don’t have much hair at all, it’s very effective. I’m dark hair pale olive skin.

AIIyMcBeal · 12/10/2022 21:12

I got the 9000, think it’s about £450 on John Lewis. I’ve been using it over a year and honestly it’s changed my life! You use it religiously every 2 weeks for a few months and then top up sessions as needed, I can go months without shaving and the hair that does grow back is so fine and downy rather than the thick dark hair I had. I do everywhere from the eyebrows down. It’s fantastic!

AIIyMcBeal · 12/10/2022 21:14

yes! I know it goes against everything that feels acceptable but honestly it’s changed my life! No more rouge facial hair I’m super smooth for months and months, no more having to constantly pluck it’s liberating
