Cosmetic surgery in Turkey

So I’ve book my surgery in Turkey for this time next week . Flights cost £500
and the deposit was £300. Now I’m thinking of not going but £800 is an awful lot of money to loose . Has anyone used the company ‘clineca’ before ? The surgeons name is dr alp ercan if anyone knows him.

All surgery comes with post op risk. What will you do if you require emergency care when back in the UK?

AgentProvocateur · 19/09/2022 18:28

No comments in the surgery, but please reconsider not going to Istanbul if you decide against going ahead with the surgery. It’s a fascinating city with so much to see and do. It’s great for a weekend break.

Thankyou for all your messages btw . This is his resume if anyone knows anything about medical stuff .

Hey, no experience but I tried to find some reviews on Reddit for Clineca but couldn't find some, but some people are not allowed legally to mention what Dr did their surgery?

However some do e.g.:

www.reddit.com/r/PlasticSurgery/comments/mq0t5t/my_rhinoplasty_experience_in_turkey/

They mention in that review that they couldn't find any reviews online (I guess they mean in English) etc and it was ok!

I've kept looking and found some people talking on TikTok about having lip filler and rhinoplasty at Clineca

www.tiktok.com/discover/Clineca

Threebutterflies · 19/09/2022 19:30

@Keroppi
Thankyou for taking the time to have a look. It’s difficult with reviews because I heard if there all perfect there probably fake . The google reviews are pretty much 100% 5 star for the clinic so what do you believe! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi op, so the video is an interview in his specialisation on two types of surgery: breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery (using the patients own tissue rather), and 2) skin cancer removal and follow on reconstructive surgery. He discusses pros and cons of using the patients own tissues rather than synthetic materials. He says he is very up front about risks and prides himself of being honest about what's achievable via plastic surgery. Then they went onto discussing covid 19, and How that effected his practice. He sounds legit tbh, just that I can't find any reviews.. He seems more specialised in reconstruction, going by this interview. But generally I'd say turkey is a good destination for plastic surgery, we have lots of crooked noses (including mine!) so lots of experience :D

GP here, in an area of London with a large Turkish population. I see a lot of surgery there which has gone wrong and the follow-up is non-existent. If you do it, make sure that you have several thousand in the bank in case you need follow-up in the UK, which obviously wouldn't be on the NHS except for emergencies.

The nhs covers this

Threebutterflies · 19/09/2022 19:46

@Tomatodori
ahhh Thankyou so not about rhinoplasty but it’s good to at least know something about him. I found a few reviews for him on a website of his but obviously he would put all the good reviews on there 😂

@passport123
I think as it’s only the tip of my nose it should be ok it’s more the anaesthesia I’m scared of as I’m not waking up again . I might not have the chin liposuction as I’m to worried about this .
Also regarding the nhs it was having rhinoplasty in the UK that actually messed my nose up in the first place! I went 3 times in total for them to fix it and they didn’t so this is my last chance really . It’s cost the NHS nothing so far .

Asked two friends who live in the area but they haven't heard his name. Sorry op I wasn't more helpful. I guess my other advice would be if you go for it, try to spend a good week there afterwards, just in case of any complications.

Suzi888 · 19/09/2022 20:41

I had a Google of your proposed surgeon- his medical degrees. It wouldn’t fill me with confidence.
Basic English - I mean no offence but if someone is performing surgery on you then they need to be able to understand EXACTLY what you want. What qualifications does he have?
I found this-
Cosmetic surgeons in Turkey : Doctor accreditation and qualifications

After graduating from medical school students must take exams in order to become a cosmetic surgeon and qualify for entrance to the Cosmetic Surgery Specialist Program.
Residency takes up to six and a half years, after which students are given the title of Certified Plastic Surgeon, MD.
Surgeons must be members of the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, an organisation which aims to advance Turkish Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery through scientific studies and meetings and provides international educational standards for the next generation of plastic and reconstructive surgeons.

TheTeddyBears · 19/09/2022 21:33

If you've already had several rhinoplasty I def wouldn't go ahead. I'd be looking up the best surgeons out there and save hard for it. You say it's just the tip but it sounds to me quite specialist and not just a normal nose job. You don't want to go to all the expanse and it's made worse or not what u wanted. There's only so many times u can keep getting it done before they have nothing to work with.
I'm quite risk averse when it comes to these things. I would never go abroad for anything surgery, I'd be too scared. Would much rather save or borrow to get it done here.

Threebutterflies · 19/09/2022 21:41

@Tomatodori
thanks for asking 👍🏼 I’m still not sure what to do I have till next Sunday to decide

I would be asking if he specialises in rhinoplasty first.
Also how does the price compare to other surgeons? If the price is too good to be true it normally is! Is the clinic on social media?
A work colleague went for a breast reduction with clinic arts in Istanbul and she is very pleased with the results and looks great. They also do rhinoplasty so maybe worth a look.

Tomatodori · 20/09/2022 12:06

Checked Facebook for this clinic: www.facebook.com/clineca.estetik

There are two videos / photos, one for lip filler, one for nose filler. Only 22 likes? This looks more like a botox/filler clinic rather than a medical centre?

Ok, as pp said, are you in need of a post-rhinoplasty correction type operation? If it is a complicated surgery, I would go for a more well known surgeon as, although I don't really see any open red flags, it doesn't exactly look like there is a lot of experience there.The lack of photos, reviews make me wonder if he is very experienced. Did he send you before/after photos of similar ops? If you can't get refunded, I would still go there and have a chat anyway, and also you can use the time to have appointments from some other better known names?

Threebutterflies · 20/09/2022 19:40

@Tomatodori
hiya. Thanks for having a look . Yes as far as I know the clinic does all of that kind of cosmetics at there main office. Then the surgery with anaesthesia they do at different hospitals near by . I think I’m just going to go on Monday and see how I feel when I get there . I’ve searched and searched and can’t find anything bad about the clinic or surgeon. He seems well qualified but as more as a general surgeon rather than just noses. He does know I’ve had other rhinoplasty .
I think I’m going to Istanbul until Friday then either come home early or fly to a beach resort to relax for a few days . If you have any suggestions of places I’d be grateful that I can fly to from Istanbul. We’re are the main English tourist beaches in Turkey ? At least I won’t waste my very expensive airline tickets !

Don't go to a general plastic surgeon. Go to one who only does rhinoplasties.

Not quite the same but I am an NHS nurse and we have seen a large uptick of patients coming into hospital from Turkey as their procedure has gone horribly wrong. Some of these patients have required further surgery with life changing consequences.
I do understand why you feel you need this surgery but perhaps do more research. Like another poster pointed out it's not just the surgeon who is important in these procedures.

Threebutterflies · 29/09/2022 11:11

Hi everyone
So I’m here now I changed clinics to one in Antalya. I choose the doctor as she’s an ent specialist and is very experienced. Problem is the aftercare is absolutely shit . I had my surgery on Tuesday about half ten . I’m at the hotel now but have been ill all night going hot and cold with sore glands in my neck like when you have a flu. Nobody knows English and I desperately want an English nurse to help me . A lot of the surgery places I looked at were all English speaking so I thought as they advertise for English patients this one would be .
I have no idea what to do really I’m in so much pain and feel I’ll and have no one to help me ☹️
