I need a new dress for a few events before Christmas ( dinner with a friend at The Wolesley, a conference in Boston, Paris with DD- life’s not normally this exciting). Normally I’d get something moderately stylish but safe from Hobbs. However, this came up on my FB feed and caught my eye. I like that the clothes are designed and made in England, and they are made from
natural fabrics.

Is it nice and quirky or peri-menopausal try-hard?

I love it! Think the shape is really good and if you like it, order it and see how you feel in it!

flossletsfloss · 18/09/2022 19:26

Hate it. Sorry.

YumYummy · 18/09/2022 19:26

I almost like it.

Dingalingo · 18/09/2022 19:26

I think you could do better for the events you’ve listed

Blowyourowntrumpet · 18/09/2022 19:26

I'm not keen, but it's only available in size 6 so wouldn't fit me anyway!

MusicOfTheTraffic · 18/09/2022 19:33

I absolutely love it, OP.

What a gorgeous find, quirky and so pretty.

washingbasketqueen · 18/09/2022 19:37

Very tea partyish. It's ok but I don't like the neckline and it's a bit dark for me.

Sandcastlesinthesky · 18/09/2022 19:40

If it speaks to you wear it. Life is short.

GettingStuffed · 18/09/2022 19:43

It's the sort of dress I could see Kirsty Alsopp in

pandy2 · 18/09/2022 19:45

The latter I'm afraid for me but I like your description!

HikingBoots · 18/09/2022 19:45

Hmmmm, not sure.
It's cool and quirky and I love the subject matter of the print. But to pull it off I think you need to either go:

  • Arty (massive costume jewellery, a quirky hairdo in a strong colour like bleach blonde or red and red lipstick) or --- Vintage (vintage hairdo, makeup, shoes and bag).
If you have a safe hairstyle, wear subtle makeup and typically smart shoes and jewellery, I think it could look frumpy.
dudsville · 18/09/2022 19:49

I've seen it before. I think it's lovely, classic feminine shape with a contemporary twist.

Aiionwatha · 18/09/2022 19:49

Love love love it.

AlwaysMunching · 18/09/2022 19:50

I like it but it doesn't look very dressed up to me and also think it's not really a winter dress. .

For your events I'd be looked at something knitted.

beonmywaythen · 18/09/2022 19:53

Ick - I absolutely hate it! But if you like it go for it

FredrikaPeri · 18/09/2022 19:56

Agree with earlier poster about the styling. It's terrible!
I'd go for something different. Sorry op.

America12 · 18/09/2022 19:59

Love it

zurala · 18/09/2022 20:01

It's awful. Doesn't look smart enough for events, and the print is twee and cringy. Might just about work on someone going but if you are perimenopausal then absolutely don't.

Mamette · 18/09/2022 20:06

I don’t mind the shape or the general colour scheme but I don’t like the illustration bit at the bottom.

Iknowforsure1 · 18/09/2022 20:08

There’s something that’s a turn off for me when I look at this dress. I don’t think I quite can put it into words. It’s weird because my first instinct is to like it but I can’t.

OxanaVorontsova · 18/09/2022 20:08

Well I wouldn’t wear it but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t

Paintonthesmile · 18/09/2022 20:09

I'm not sure it's suitable for the events you've mentioned.

This is exactly what I was going to write. Except less eloquently of course 😉

7eleven · 18/09/2022 20:15

A very hard no from me. I think anybody over the age of 30, and size 12, would look like Miss Marple in it.

PreColumbian · 18/09/2022 20:16

You have got a fabulous Autumn ahead of you. Personally, I’d go for something a bit more glamorous. The dress is nice enough but could be from Seasalt, IMHO, and it doesn’t look like it would wash or wear well. Have you looked at LK Bennett, Baukjen or Jigsaw?
