I think Boots are having a laugh!

Saw the new Menopause skincare range advertised and was interested as a woman of certain age 😉

Jesus wept though, £32 for the plainest tube of cream ever! Ok they're doing 3 for 2 but still!

Is that not really expensive or am I desperately out of touch?

I'll stick with my CeraVe I think.

Oh yes and I saw their ad for some menopause bracelet at £300!

justasking111 · 15/09/2022 07:35

MAC cosmetics owned by Estée Lauder aka a huge American/Chinese company. Boots by Walgreen another USA company. www.walgreens.com/search/results.jsp?Ntt=menopause%20skincare

Look familiar??

isthismylifenow · 15/09/2022 07:40

What is menopause clothing? Cotton? Or elasticated waist bands and the likes?

If it is cotton, they why not sell is as, I don't know..... but maybe cotton 😶

I think I have to go and Google again now.....

Opaljewel · 15/09/2022 08:02

Try Revolution skin care. They do some amazing skin care dupes even for CeraVe. Can get deals online or sometimes in superdrug. They are cheaper too and cruelty free. CeraVe tests on animals in China.

Redqueenheart · 15/09/2022 08:06

I saw these products and thought it was just another cynical way to market and make money out of the menopause.

Not something I will be buying in.

Blueberrywitch · 15/09/2022 08:08

Looking for positives, I guess it’s getting it out there like a normal phase of life and nothing to be ashamed of! My mum didn’t tell me when she was going through the menopause when I was living with her as a teenager, it was just never spoken of. Perhaps if there had been fun Pantene ads she might not have felt ashamed of it.

I second this! The vitamin C serum is completely amazing and approx £6

As a woman of a certain age I'm wondering what the difference is between menopause skincare & regular skincare
pure cringe

Clever marketing.

DurhamDurham · 15/09/2022 08:15

I can happily chuck £30 at skincare but would never buy something with a menopause wording on it. I want bit of luxury and denial

Exactly! Grin

C1N1C · 15/09/2022 08:17

This is labelling markup. The same way that a wedding cake is ten times the price, or a wedding bouquet is ten times the price...

Cream is cream. The same way that your skin doesn't magically change from your face to your neck to your body to your hands. I guarantee if you look at the ingredients of comparable products (same range, not menopause), you'll see very little difference.

Don't be conned :).

Wow that's expensive. I saw the advert on tv and cringed a little inside. Also Pantene shampoo for menopausal hair.

I am now tempted to try this as my hair is just so frizzy and awful now which I think is to do with the perimenopause. I wonder if it will make a difference (probably not 😁)

I'd expect some sort of inspector gadget built in fans and misters.

wherearethehumans · 15/09/2022 08:19

Is all this stuff infused with HRT?? If not what is the bloody point of it all?

I love that they are marketing to the one demographic in the UK who have got to a stage where the really don't take any bullshit. And frankly are the most feisty intelligent people I know.

Good luck selling this shit to us.

Similar with Mac make-up,.omg the prices

MAC makeup is totally worth it. I can't always afford it but try to buy when I can. Coverage and durability, as well as how long you get out of it is so much better than other cheaper brands.

I've spent a small fortune on skincare over the years and most of it has gone on the bin as it hasn't done anything for me until I started using CeraVe . My issue is it's £30 for the plainest tube imaginable and it's No7 so hardly a fancy brand. If you're going to charge £30 put it in a nice pot/tube!

Do you buy it at cheaper sites online @EarringsandLipstick

DurhamDurham · 15/09/2022 08:22

I like to mix it up a bit with different brands, always on the look out for new potions and lotions but I do like the Boots No7 range, I think their serum is great. I don't mind their packaging for the range I just don't want/need the word menopause on it 😆

Purpleavocado · 15/09/2022 07:17

They already do cooling bedding in M&S, it's lush.
All of the marketeers have realised the hot flush £ is the next big thing.

I'm not menopausal and love that bedding!
Weirdly it is the only bedding my cat will sleep on ConfusedGrin

Roselilly36 · 15/09/2022 08:25

Has anyone tried it?

There are many changes your skin goes through as you age - the main one I think is the loss of collagen. Its loss is quite drastic around the menopause years, so if you're a company that makes products to manage collagen loss, marketing it to menopausal woman seems good business practice.

But us wise women will see through this ploy and will look around for a product which does exactly the same thing but looks less wanky and costs 1/4 of the price.

n.b. I'm not there. I'm 51 and have got 'normal' ageing. I've used Simple products for years, so I imagine I'll just buy a richer moisturiser if I see my skin getting really dry.

As for wrinkles, I don't think there's a product on the market that really reduces them. Drink water and stop frowning!

TheOrigRights · 15/09/2022 08:31

Playplayaway · 15/09/2022 07:04

Primark are doing menopause clothing too.

What next? Menopause food range? (defo be M&S first)

Menopause bedding?

It's just that they've changed the marketing.
I am going through the menopause and have looked at silk bedding to help with night sweats.
I don't need it to be sold as menopause bedding because I did my own research and learnt that silk bedding is good for sweats, but I can totally see why companies have jumped on this.

ImAvingOops · 15/09/2022 08:32

Didn't Boots used to do a No7 skin care range for mature skin? Same thing surely?
£30 is piss taking territory unless the ingredients really do compare to premium brands.

Seems to me at the moment that lots of Boots stores in smaller towns are looking really run down, empty and grubby these days. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the next high street loss. Maybe they could spend some of the profit from their overpriced cream on restocking the make up counters.

Dogsgottabone · 15/09/2022 08:32

I saw this ad and watched open mouthed last night. Total marketing con!

I'm 44 and just changed my skincare to use a serum I picked up in sephora on holiday for €6, cerave moisturiser (changed from cetaphil) and erborian CC cream. I literally look glowing and healthy compared to my old stuff. No need for a meno label, just needed to try something new.

I always though No7 was overpriced anyway. No way am I buying something because it says menopausal!!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/09/2022 08:35

I'm looking up menopause bedding now ...
