I think Boots are having a laugh!

Saw the new Menopause skincare range advertised and was interested as a woman of certain age 😉

Jesus wept though, £32 for the plainest tube of cream ever! Ok they're doing 3 for 2 but still!

Is that not really expensive or am I desperately out of touch?

I'll stick with my CeraVe I think.

I haven’t seen the boots skincare range but that’s very much in premium territory. I don’t think I’d be paying that unless it had some really effective active ingredients!

JimmiChoux · 14/09/2022 22:38

Wow that's expensive. I saw the advert on tv and cringed a little inside. Also Pantene shampoo for menopausal hair.

SoLongFurlough · 14/09/2022 22:41

As a woman of a certain age I'm wondering what the difference is between menopause skincare & regular skincare
pure cringe

UWhatNow · 14/09/2022 22:45

Yep definitely taking the piss out of menopausal affluence and low self esteem. Hope the newly emerged assertiveness and not being taken for a mug prevails.

It really is cringe isn't it. Can you imagine a teenage boy seeing a bottle of menopause shampoo in the shower. Christ, you'd never hear the end of it.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 14/09/2022 22:46

They're targeting the 'women of a certain age who have disposable income' demographic I guess. I'd never spend that much though!

Cocopogo · 14/09/2022 22:48

Yep menopause seems to be the latest in-thing. Businesses seem to be jumping on the bandwagon, it’s so cringey

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/09/2022 22:49

Tbh I'd it had been a tenner I'd have given it a go.

Well I would definitely suggest not looking at Augustine Bader skincare and Tom Ford make-up then 😂. You would faint!

isthismylifenow · 15/09/2022 05:50

What an awful marketing ploy.

What the heck is in Menopause Pantene that isn't it the normal bottle?

isthismylifenow · 15/09/2022 05:55

Is it the no7 range?

I just Googled it, and in the FAQ section is a question...
Can only menopausal woman use this range?
Reply : No, anyone can use it

🙄

NancyJoan · 15/09/2022 06:24

£30 for a tube of moisturiser is fairly standard, the French pharmacy brands like Avene and Eucerin are around that, premium brands like Clarins/Estee Lauder/La Prairie would be much more.

😂 I have both of those

Cervinia · 15/09/2022 06:49

I have significant disposable income, but I’m still an Astral girl! That thick cream (that admittedly takes ten minutes to soak in) is my best thing. Nothing hydrates my skin like it, and my 56 year old neck is crepe free. It’s cheap enough to rub on my dry heels too 😉

I would never spend that kind of money on a face cream. Menopause or not.

Playplayaway · 15/09/2022 07:04

Primark are doing menopause clothing too.

What next? Menopause food range? (defo be M&S first)

Menopause bedding?

UglyModernWindows · 15/09/2022 07:08

I can happily chuck £30 at skincare but would never buy something with a menopause wording on it. I want bit of luxury and denial Grin

Damn! another fashion I missed by years 🙄

I think it’s standard price for quality skincare!

Menopause cheese, chocolate, wine, loo roll slippers..... the list is endless!! Marketing teams are rubbing their hands in glee!!

Purpleavocado · 15/09/2022 07:17

They already do cooling bedding in M&S, it's lush.
All of the marketeers have realised the hot flush £ is the next big thing.

Still waiting for my menopause affluence. It's about the only symptom I don't have. 😄

TheOGCCL · 15/09/2022 07:26

Massive skincare fan here and also an avid follower of menopause issues so I
found this podcast very interesting.
www.balance-menopause.com/menopause-library/the-facts-and-fiction-about-menopausal-skin-with-dr-sajjad-rajpar/

They don’t mention any products specifically but am sure they had Boots in mind.

The shelf in Westfield Stratford had been ransacked so someone is falling for it. I agree skincare can be expensive, it’s all a bit of a cynical ploy but this really takes the biscuit.

MotherOfWhippets · 15/09/2022 07:28

It's just bullshit marketing.

Pink tax again innit.

Best thing to do for ageing skin is to pay for a prescription tretinoin (a month can be eeked out for two so £10 a month) and buy basic cleansers and moisturisers - there are plenty out there cerave, LRP etc.
