Trousers look ridiculous. What brands are super long?

Long Tall Sally, Next long length, Topshop at ASOS, New Look tall all work for me (I’m 5ft 11). When I was a teenager I would have got cheap skinny jeans from Primark, which were nowhere near my length most times, and worn them under long boots, no idea if a young person would consider that stylish now though lol

Rosehugger · 08/09/2022 11:45

"Long" in a lot of brands is about 34" leg.

INeedNewShoes · 08/09/2022 11:45

French clothes tend to be longer for the width (compared to UK) as their brands haven't followed suit on vanity sizing yet. Esprit is a good suggestion.

I'd take her for a trying on jeans shopping trip and go to proper jeans shops like Levis etc. who do all sorts of different sizing. Very expensive but once you know her size you can look for them on sale / on eBay.

SylvanianFrenemies · 08/09/2022 11:51

Loads of brands do properly long trousers now.

Back when I was a teen LTS was it and they were v middle aged (think pleated chinos) and expensive.

Try the Next website and search "tall trousers" and "tall jeans". New Look have a tall range.

SylvanianFrenemies · 08/09/2022 11:52

ASOS also have lots of tall ranges.

Coffeeandcaketime · 08/09/2022 11:53

River island, M&S and ASOS all do tall ranges. M&S even do it for some dresses and skirts which can be helpful.

SylvanianFrenemies · 08/09/2022 11:53

The "long" in M&S is still pretty short - 32" or 33".

They are missing a trick there.

My dgd is 6 foot tall and only aged 14. She was always tall for her age but never really mattered when she was in kids clothes..just took the next age up in things she liked. She had a sudden growth spurt during lockdown and I think destroyed her confidence for a while. She never where's dressed or skirts do it's really important that trousers and jeans got properly. We managed to show her that nearly all the styles she likes do come in long and extra long lengths. It's annoying when they don't keep those lengths in shops though ... especially extra long which she often needs spoils a shopping trip a bit to have to try on standard them order the extra long on line. My daughter has found that ordering her length straight away in the shop rather than saying we'll
do that when we get home has restored her confidence and interest. The jeans usually come by the next day. I think its a bit disconcerting for a young teen to suddenly find nothing fits to immediately take home and how it's handled is important for their self esteem.we don't make a big deal of it ...just say if you like these illl order them now. DD always tried to get her a t shirt or other top while actually out as she's standard size on top. All length is in her legs. That way it's a 'proper' shopping trip. She is a size 8 and a half in shoes with narrow feet so that can also be a problem on a shopping trip. 😀

There's another thread saying that they've changed the lengths without telling anyone and they are longer now.

WithASpider · 08/09/2022 12:15

Me and my girls all have 34" Legs. DD2 is 5' 10" and has a long torso to match her legs. Bloody nightmare when I was younger, much better offerings now!
We shop in ASOS, New Look, Boohoo, Topshop and Next. Asda do long leg jeans which have been great for college wear. Dorothy Perkins for formal trousers. Primark also do long length jeans and leggings but it's a bit hit and miss as to what's available in store.

Wouldloveanother · 08/09/2022 12:16

Most shops have a tall range, 5’10 is hardly giantess territory.

potatoismyname · 08/09/2022 12:23

I'm 5ft 10 and New Look tall are too long for me. Really nice jeans and trouser and affordable. I also shop at Next or long tall sally.

dontgobaconmyheart · 08/09/2022 14:22

Echoing what others have said. I am not as tall as your DD but have long legs (and a visibly excessively short torso hence not actually being tall overall) but don't have a problem finding 34 length trousers and jeans in the likes of ASOS/topshop, new look do them, river island, Abercrombie and Fitch.

Hopefully she can find something or another inch can be eked out by letting down trouser hemlines.

Interesting... thanks.

Icecreamandapplepie · 09/09/2022 01:04

Next tall. Not long, tall range

TheTeenageYears · 09/09/2022 01:19

M&S & Next will do a 34" inside leg - it's extra long in woman's. Standard is 30, long 32, extra long 34. Long Tall Sally & Sweaty Betty are options. Not sure about women's but H&M mens jeans in a 33/34 length are only sold online so could be the same. Unfortunately things do shrink over time even with careful washing. I have several pairs of long flowy trousers which were very long when new, washed on 30 or below and never tumble dried but over 2 years must have shrunk nearly 2 inches.

TheOnlyBeeInYourBonnet · 09/09/2022 05:22

The Next extra tall jeans are super ridiculously long, too much for me at 5'11, I gave a pair to my son who is 6'6!.

Hersetta427 · 09/09/2022 10:57

My daughter is 14 and 5"11.

We have managed to get tall leggings from M&S. joggers from the tall range at asos. They are both very reasonably priced.

LadyEloise1 · 09/09/2022 19:56

I'd love long legs.
