The chub rub is real

Please help! I'm on holiday with my partner and we have been walking a lot in the heat. Despite wearing shorts I have the worst chubbrub. Tomorrow we need to walk more. How do I heal this overnight please, with things I might have in my case/hotel room? Will I be able to walk tomorrow? This is so sore!

lots of moisturiser tonight

suncream or deoderant is greesy so can act as a libricant. Do you have a different pair of shorts that may rub less?

SiobhanSharpe · 04/09/2022 00:57

Sudocrem (for nappy rash) is also great for chub rub but i don't know whether it might be available where you are.
It's zinc based so if you have a high factor opaque sunscreen that might work too

Divebar2021 · 04/09/2022 01:00

Aah bless you. It’s so painful isn’t it? What have you got in your case then? Presumably no linen trousers tucked away. I would want to air it now and keep dry as much as possible overnight then cover tomorrow if you can. Does your partner have boxer shorts you could wear? People advise roller ball deodorant but I’ve never had much luck myself.

SiobhanSharpe · 04/09/2022 01:03

Lanacane do an anti chafing gel that's quite good.
Amazon also seems to have various creams for chafing etc -- if you have Prime you could get some in a day or two.
Otherwise I'd ask in a local pharmacy tomorrow. Slather some moisturising cream on tonight.

SiobhanSharpe · 04/09/2022 01:04

An aloe vera type aftersun cream or lotion might also help.

Binglebong · 04/09/2022 01:07

Moisturise like crazy tonight. In the morning loads of deodorant over it, stick is best but can be hard to get hold of just now.

My sympathy!

caffelattetogo · 04/09/2022 01:29

Thank you so much. I will try these so suggestions. How is something so seemingly trivial so painful?!

Use the stick/cream type deodorants anywhere that might chafe before any kind of walking. Light chub-rub shorts or bike shorts to walk in/under a dress or skirt. I used to suffer but haven't for years after doing this. It's so sore - ouch!

caffelattetogo · 04/09/2022 02:44

Thanks so much. I've found some sudocrem. Hopefully it can heal a bit before morning.

In a time of need I randomly found a roll of plaster tape. A bit like Elastoplast but not as rough a surface, a big thick one - one continuous roll. I put a huge strip on the inside of each leg and it worked! So get thee to a chemist first thing. It acted like a barrier and soothed the already chafed skin. If you're already sure, the chafing gel won't really work. Especially under shorts.

caffelattetogo · 04/09/2022 12:16

Silly question - would talc help?

OP posts:
Crabwoman · 04/09/2022 12:32

Stick or cream deodorant is a gane changer.

knackeredagain · 04/09/2022 12:34

Talc will help a little but if it’s warm you might need to top it up regularly. Sudocrem is the best healer.
For future, I’ve found snag chin rub shorts to be a game changer.

bombombo · 04/09/2022 12:34

Talc really helps! You can get liquid talc too in supermarkets which is good.

woopdedoodle · 04/09/2022 12:52

Lanacane, 100%, I once managed to rip the skin right off my thighs on a day trip, they were bleeding and the pain....

Any way lanacane worked .

Zeeza · 04/09/2022 13:03

Lanacane is a god send. Never go on a trip without some. The last time it was a seam in the arm of a tee shirt. I've also used it on my feet, as well as chub rub.

yasminisa · 04/09/2022 13:07

If you can get some tights, cut them off at biker short length and wear them under a dress/skirt

Mollymoofer · 04/09/2022 13:19

I’ve had this, OP, and once you’ve had it you start to see the tell-tale signs of other women hobbled with it too!

Get yourself some linen trousers/long shorts and invest in some chub rub shorts for under dresses in the future. Mine are from Snag and I’ve made good use of them this summer. In the meantime, hope the sudocreme and lanacane help!

Mustard oil if available

latesummervibes · 04/09/2022 13:30

I had this on holiday. I bought some after sun cream which contained zinc (very skin healing) and tubbed loads on before bed. It was much better in the morning and I kept on reapplying it

latesummervibes · 04/09/2022 13:31

whoops, not after sun: it was sun burn cream with zinc

dudsville · 04/09/2022 13:39

Hope you can find a pair of tights today! Get the largest pair they sell, and as a poster above suggests, cut them to size. I only cut at the calf because I find they do ride up and you'd rather be in the position of thinking you could trim off a little more then suddenly finding yourself just sporting very strange looking pants.

RJnomore1 · 04/09/2022 13:49

Silicone if you can find it - a good chemist might have a foot spray, for strapped shoes, or you can get roll ons. Can you Amazon prime to you perhaps?

im trying to remember the name of the stick I have …

Isabelle70 · 04/09/2022 13:52

@caffelattetogo do you have any primers with you? Silicone based? I have read that they can help reduce the friction. I haven't tried as I have the Lancane which remind me I need some more.

redferrari · 04/09/2022 16:13

Coconut oil is good
