Best Vitamin C serum

For combination skin?

I have tried a few. Liked Drunk Elephant but found it very oily. I think it’s now changed it’s formulation?

Skinceuticals seems the best but it is so pricey!

Medik 8. Pricey but their C Tetra product is really good.

botemp · 21/08/2022 10:44

Geek and Gorgeous c-glow, pretty much the same as Skinceuticals (with minor differences not to get sued). It's around £10 but I think there still isn't a UK seller but there are a few shops that will send it to the UK.

The Sali Highes for Revolution one has been the best I’ve used recently. I’ve got oily skin and it sinks in really well. I’ve noticed an improvement in my pigmentation too.

Oops, Hughes!

LoveLabradors · 21/08/2022 11:42

I like the balance me - it’s a nice light texture with no scent.

Wagsandclaws · 21/08/2022 11:49

Temple spa, gorgeous and smells of oranges - Amazing stuff Smile

BlackSwan · 21/08/2022 13:53

I just finished the Skinceuticals one for the 2nd or 3rd time. It smells pretty bad but it's a great product. I've now ordered Skinceuticals Phloretin this time which also has Vit C in it. Has anyone tried that?

Work2live · 21/08/2022 15:46

I use the Lumene Velo one, it feels quite light on my skin. They also do an arctic berry cocktail one which I like, but that’s more of an oil.

Camesawconquered · 21/08/2022 15:48

Medik8 is fantastic.

CoconutAmericano · 21/08/2022 16:32

Timeless C plus E plus Ferulic Acid. Very very similar to the Skinceuticals one

Farmageddon · 21/08/2022 16:52

I second the Geek & Gorgeous Vitamin C serum, it was recommended to me on here and it's great, it's about a tenth of the price of Skinceuticals (which is the holy grail Vit C serum).
They do ship to the UK, but I don't know what the extra customs fee would be, probably not much if you are just buying a few things.

I used to use Skinceuticals, and really like it - but it's sooo expensive to justify (even getting it on sale sometimes), and considering it only ever lasted me a month, it never felt worth it.
The Obagi one was nice, but less of a watery consistency, and more sticky. Plus it had alcohol in it, but it's a bit cheaper than Skinceuticals.

Anyway, I'm a G&G convert now, plus their Retinal 1.0% cream is really good, I use it on my neck where I can't tolerate tretinoin

I thought Timeless wasn't available anymore in the EU... not sure if it's still sold in the UK?

I get it on Amazon

Ponks · 21/08/2022 17:08

Revolution do a couple of nice non-oily vitamin C serums. Worth a try. Or No7 , it's a bit too watery for me but might suit a combo skin more. I always thought my skin was combination but as I've got older it is getting slightly drier and I really like the slightly oily vitamin c serums eg Pestle and Mortar.

Pleasecouldihavesomeadvice · 21/08/2022 17:09

alumier EverActive C&e

its not oil based and so is suitable for oily skin

manlyago · 21/08/2022 17:23

Wow, lots to look at. Thanks!

Timeless was the absolute best if you didn’t want to pay Skinceutical price but you can’t reliably buy in the UK anymore. I’ve been using Geek & Gorgeous too and I buy 2 bottles at a time to save on postage. You can buy a mini empty bottle so I decant a week’s worth of product at a time and keep the rest in the fridge.

Just wondering what Vitamin C does for your skin? Just about to order Biossance Squalene and Vitamin C but not sure.

Just wondering what Vitamin C does for your skin? Just about to order Biossance Squalene and Vitamin C but not sure.

It's a really good antioxidant that has protective benefits for the skin, and also increase collagen production and fade hyperpigmentation over time, and generally gives the skin a nice glow.

The best form of Vitamin C is called L-Ascorbic Acid, as it is the most potent form of vitamin c available, however is also a bit unstable, and has a short shelf life (generally a bit of a diva). For better stability, it's usually formulated with Ferulic acid, and when combined with vitamin E can increase its' photo-protective benefits. Apparently, when used under sunscreen in the morning it can increase the efficacy of your sunscreen with it's antioxidant superpowers 😀

However, not recommended if you have sensitive skin, as it tends to be formulated at a low ph which can irritate.

Welshgal85 · 21/08/2022 23:00

The Oskia vitamin c capsules are my favourite, you can usually get them on offer a lot too from various beauty websites

Talisin · 22/08/2022 01:05

I’m a big fan of Bliss Bright Idea Vitamin C serum which I came across when it was included in Boots showstopper box at the end of last year. It’s a gel cream consistency and doesn’t make my quite oily combination skin even oilier. I really noticed a difference after a couple of weeks - my skin really did look brighter.

dressingonaweekend · 22/08/2022 01:37

I like garden of wisdom vitamin c

Marghe87 · 22/08/2022 08:58

I love the one from Antipodes. I have seen a difference on my skin whilst using it, smells lovely and has good ingredients. It's not cheap but not even extremely pricey and you can get a discount with your first purchase.

KalaniM · 22/08/2022 09:36

If one has sensitive skin, what would be an alternative to vitamin C? I’ve been using vit c for years and starting to feel I need something gentler.
