Anyone fancy a good old-fashioned 100 day princessing thread??

i haven’t seen one of these in a while and I need it!!!

I’ve been a bit of a mess since lockdown. Overweight, drinking too much, house a bit of a mess, sleep patterns gone out the window, not much exercise (I do walk the dog but he’s older so it’s more of a gentle stroll).

I want to feel like me again and I like a deadline.

In 103 days it’s 28th November, which is pretty much the start of Christmas. We also have a Center Parcs holiday booked.
Now if you’re Irish (like me), Christmas starts on 25th November (The Late Late Toy Show) so it’s actually 100 days today!

In the past, people would come up with a list of 10? things they want to focus on over the 100 days. I think In the early challenges there used to be 1 list but later ones were more individual with everyone having their own list.

My basics are

  1. 7.5 hours sleep a night (I never seem to get to 8)
  2. 2L water a day
  3. 16:8 fasting
  4. Shower, teeth & wash face daily.
  5. Start back with TOMM cleaning schedule
  6. use Lumea hair removal weekly
  7. deep clean every room
  8. figure out how to deal with my wavy hair
  9. get my eyebrows done
  10. exercise, even just for 10 minutes, everyday.
I might tweak some of these but it’s a starting point.

so anyone else in??

@Minnie123456 I take collagen capsules which I do find help with hair loss. I found it took about 2 months to see a difference. I've tried a few different brands and they are all fairly large capsules.

fallfallfall · 12/09/2022 15:52

@PatienceOfEngels I have had the occasional UTI, and I keep a supply of D-Mannose in the fridge. I found it very helpful, it’s a supplement I picked up at the health food store. I live somewhere with very poor access to dr’s so it’s helped .

i’ve lost track I believe I’m starting week 4. My nail care is going well and today someone is going to help me shape them.
I have an upper lip wax appointment and the gal agreed to help (although she wanted me to book an express manicure, which I declined)

PatienceOfEngels · 12/09/2022 18:55

Thanks for the tip @fallfallfall will try and pick some up tomorrow. I'm slowly losing my mind at ongoing symptoms and doctors insisting I'm testing negative so nothing is wrong. Have been chugging cranberry juice for the last week, symptoms for 17 days now (never had one before so didn't work out what it was for a few days).

I just want to get exercising but it's making me so uncomfortable and stressed.

fallfallfall · 12/09/2022 19:44

@PatienceOfEngels it starts working almost right away (within hours) so let me know if it helps you.

ChiaraMontague · 15/09/2022 10:15

Could anyone recommend a shampoo & conditioner that makes hair really shiny (and preferably adds volume!)

MontalbanoFan · 16/09/2022 12:29

Oh dear, my self-discipline has been non-existent this week. Carbs and fats galore. Do you know what I had for lunch yesterday? A crisp sandwich!

Can I start again, please? I could still reach my goals just before Christmas, hopefully.

@ChiaraMontague I hope someone will answer your question soon. I’d be interested in this, too.

PatienceOfEngels · 16/09/2022 13:23

@fallfallfall have been taking the D-Mannose for a few days now and even though symptoms have eased off (not all day) still having problems. Got antibiotics today at doctor: she thinks I did have a UTI and the infection cleared my body is reacting to stress levels so I need to do pelvic floor exercises (and relax!). This has been a super stressful month (working through the summer to finish researching and writing my thesis - was half way through when UTI started) and have gone straight from that into back to school/teaching no courses.

So looks like I really need to princess properly and look after myself!

Current 4 goals stand:

  1. No evening eating.
  2. Snacking on fruit and veg only (managing this about 95% of the time atm).
  3. No alcohol or fizzy drinks.
  4. Minimum 2x water bottle per day (1 litre, topped up with limited coffee and lots of herbal tea).

I've lost 3kg over the last month. 8kg to go to get to a healthy weight. Not missing evening eating, booze or junk at all.

Adding: 5. daily pelvic floor exercises.
6.Sunday night pamper night (hair intensive conditioner, face mask, soak feet).

Everything else is still on hold till I'm feeling better.
7.Yoga 3x a week. Will pick this up first.
8.Swimming 1x a week.
9.Restart C25K. (maybe not all 3 of them starting in the same week!)

@MontalbanoFan I've started again many a time but great timing - Exactly 100 days until Christmas today! 🎄☃

MontalbanoFan · 16/09/2022 14:07

That’s cheered me up! 100 days from today means we can still make a difference.🙂

Floydthebarber · 16/09/2022 15:41

Ugh, princessing has fallen off a cliff thanks to dd1 getting it then passing it to dd2 and me - we have both been so ill. The house is a state, no vegetables have been consumed as I don't want to see them come back up, my legs are fuzzy, skincare is mostly vaseline smeared around my sore nose... I imagine I've dropped a few pounds though!Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2022 23:09

Haircut - check
Epilated legs- check
Thought about epilating armpits but chickened out , I'll do the wax- to do list
MulriVitamins for 50+ - check

100 Days off to a pretty good start Xmas Wink

fallfallfall · 17/09/2022 04:09

The nails are doing well, no chips or cracks and some growth. Stained from grapes (making jelly tomorrow). But that will clean up.
I’ve ordered some polish and a new strengthener to try. Delivery in four days.
I’ve also practiced “sugaring” my upper lip, it’s just been waxed so it’s getting use to the angle and technique.

Can I join please? I need a bit of inspiration to get myself sorted for Christmas

Get on board change m you're in at the right time and all you need is Your List Xmas Grin

winterspiceandallthingsnice · 17/09/2022 20:04

Can I join too? I'm in serious need of some princessing.
I have had a bit of a rough year, had my thyroid removed last November due to a cancer scare ( benign thank goodness) now on thyroxine for the rest of my life and as a consequence my skin is so dry and itchy. I have also piled on a lot of weight which I am currently managing to lose on Slimming World, 2 stone down, 3 to go so that is under control.
Just started on HRT so I am hoping that works to sort out some of my other issues, was diagnosed with a womb full of fibroids and going through peri menopause.
I currently resemble a sack of spuds, my hair is a dry frizzy mess after I let a mobile hairdresser dye it blonde ( never again) it's now a delightful mixture of yellow, grey and my natural colour brown. I have made my self an appointment at a salon to get it cut in October, will decide on a colour at a later date when I go and get it cut.

So my list is-

Get hair cut and coloured
Continue with diet
Commit to 15,000 steps a day, easily do 10,000 a day now due to nature of my job
Pamper night every week
Drink 2l of water everyday
Sort out my horrible bitten nails

What supplements do any of you take? Looking to take some, feeling low after getting COVID last month. Have loved reading through this thread, have gained lots of inspiration from you all x

LilianLenton · 18/09/2022 10:45

Fell off the thread for a couple of weeks but I've mostly been keeping up with my goals. Sort of.

  • Lose some weight - not sure how much, am doing Dukan.
  • Increase exercise. Mostly just walking at the moment, I haven't had any motivation/time to do any proper workouts.
  • Skincare routine twice a day including SPF50 - especially important at present as I'm on roaccutane. Been doing really well except for the last few days as I had a migraine, my face nearly fell off!
  • Haircare including moisturising masks, scalp oil etc at least once a week. Going to do this today or tomorrow.
  • Been getting into a TOMM routine. House still a nightmare (thanks DH & DD) but it's improving.
  • Failed to moisturise my hands before bed. At all.
  • Increase water intake. Trying my best.
  • Eat some vegetables or fruit with every meal. Including breakfast. YES!
  • Generally, reduce my carbs & fats, & make healthier choices when I do decide to have a meal that has more carbs or fats in. YES!
  • Make more effort to get enough sleep. YES! And I've reduced the herbal sleeping tablets as the insomnia seems to be reducing for now too.

Have started taking a high dose biotin supplement as I'm pretty sure some of my hair volume reduction is due to my medication. It causes vitamin depletion & IDK why I didn't make the link years ago that I probably needed more biotin. I needed prescription strength folic acid when I was pregnant because of the same medication. Am also taking collagen powder. Will see if they help, apparently it can take about 6 months to make a visible difference.

@winterspiceandallthingsnice I saw recommendations for Berocca effervescent multivitamins on a MN thread a while ago, I can't take them as they've got artificial sweeteners in, but a lot of posters were very positive about them for general energy etc, especially if you've been unwell.

plinkypots · 18/09/2022 10:51

I'd like to join in. I need to ditch the alcohol and start exercising for a start.

PatienceOfEngels · 18/09/2022 11:38

@Floydthebarber hope you're feeling better soon.

Welcome to everyone hopping on.

I am slowly tidying up/decluttering which does wonders for my mental health.

Really need to declutter my bathroom supplies and princes sing is Helprin me out of that. So many bits and pieces of sample sizes in the cupboard.

ChiaraMontague · 18/09/2022 13:30

Bit of a mixed bag over the last week but some good habits to build on in the coming weeks.
Weight loss feels consolidated, I’m weighing in once a week and have been stable for last 3 weeks - so I hope a bit of a push now will be reflected in the scales in the next 2-3 weeks.

Inspired by this thread, I’ve bought a collagen supplement so fingers crossed that helps hair and nails look healthier by the end of the 100 days.

Ordered a Philip Kingsley “body building” hair kit, shampoo, conditioner and a root spray so will see how that works. Also ordered a gloss serum from PK, I thought it might be easier to try to achieve body and shine with different products rather than look for one miracle product to do both. I do love the PK Elasticiser so quietly optimistic about this new products.

I will book for a haircut soon and possibly something with the colour, I might pop in for a colour consult next week and then book the appointment for a few weeks time.

Big task for today is meal planning and will do a shop on Tuesday for lots more fruit and veg - especially for snacking! I start with good intentions but sometimes get distracted / tempted by crisps 😂

Minnie123456 · 18/09/2022 23:41

Thanks @vjg13 i'll give those a try if the biotin doesn't work.
Haven't been doing too bad, have been taking my vitamins, doing a skincare routine, moisturising after a shower and using moisturiser on my hands every day.

Healthy eating hasn't started yet so there's no way i've lost weight lol.

Carriemac · 19/09/2022 08:54

I'm
Jumping in to join . Will read whole thread and set goals but for todays unexpected BH I'm having a grooming blitz

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/09/2022 13:33

Hair gloss treatment applied , hair is still in a towel wrap post rinse so I don't know how it has turned out yet

Eyebrows dyed

fallfallfall · 19/09/2022 23:20

just a quick update. the nails on my hands are growing fine. currently very stained from grape jelly a couple days ago and today working with beets...
i'm really excited for my 3 almost identical nail polishes to arrive (what on earth was i thinking!).
the skin on my heels is lovely thanks to my new scraper tool, aveda foot relief, and the rose gold colored nail polish is still 100% intact.

when i receive my new products i will remove the toe nail varnish and reapply giving myself a little pedicure along the way.
then i'll do the same for my hands (vs the current 3 layers of clear nail envy)....

vjg13 · 20/09/2022 06:01

I dyed my eyelashes this weekend and have done 2 (very slow) runs. Still eating lots of rubbish so need to get a grip on that. My elderly dog died on Sunday just trying to push on and not sit sobbing.

vjg13 · 20/09/2022 06:02

@70isaLimitNotaTarget How did the hair gloss turn out? Was it a coloured one?

ActonBell · 20/09/2022 10:40

Can I join?

Mine would be:

  1. Book a haircut
  2. Do semi-permanent home colour (I’m too chicken for permanent)
  3. Take a multi-vitamin
  4. Sort through clothes in wardrobe and take a bunch of stuff to the charity shop so I only have things I really like in there
  5. Find, sign up for and actually go to a mum and baby fitness class!
  6. Find some slippers I can wear that don’t set off my sensory issues about having something on my feet.
  7. Buy some nice loose-leaf tea and have a proper pot once a week.
  8. Start making smoothies again.
  9. Learn how to wear bright eyeshadow.
And I’ll keep no. 10 as a free space for something else I think of!
