Money no object.

I'm a bit bored and just thought of this.

What would you buy if money was no object? What do you lust after? I mean really no object, like you'd won £180 million on euro billions or something.

I reckon there are probably many objects, brands etc I've never heard of as they've not for the likes of me. Grin

A wardrobe with staff, no more laundry or ironing or wondering where Ieft the dry cleaning. No more hanging up clothes! A lovely outfit for the days activities handed to me every day.
That would be magic.

I'd have an employed masseuse- on call whenever I needed a back/foot rub as I'm pretty sure my OH is sick of my incessant demanding of massage

Icedbannoffee · 08/08/2022 10:22

I'd go for a capsule wardrobe of really classic, good quality pieces that would last years and years. Would feel amazing, look good and be better for the environment too rather than having stuff need replacing due to wear and tear periodically!

Specifically though:

Valentino rockstuds
Classic quilted Chanel bag- black with gold decal of course!

In terms of beauty I'd probably just stick to what I use now- a mixture of cheap and pricier brands as its taken a while to find what works for me. I'd have more treatments though- facials, spa treatments etc and join a posh gym.

@Mrcpy I like the sound of your black dress wardrobe!

Please tell us more - any very favourite dresses, for example?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/08/2022 10:31

Oooh - just thought o0f a couple of specific things I'd definitely buy!
Vivienne Westwood pirate boots
A Bella Freud 1970 jumper

3amAndImStillAwake · 08/08/2022 10:31

Clothes made to fit me, and made from quality fabric.

A really really big emerald ring.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/08/2022 10:52

I'd fly down to London and do a personal shopper experience at somewhere really expensive, like Selfridges or Harvey Nicks. My experience so far is restricted to touching things in the Edinburgh Harvey Nicols so I'd need a lot of help. I'd buy all the cashmere cardigans and jumpers I always want and can't afford. Lots of cashmere socks. Silk underwear - proper trip to Rigby & Peller to be measured and to discuss the fact that underwires usually come too far up on me. Miu Miu shoes. One of those silk brocade dressing gowns that keep getting shared on here. A really expensive winter coat AND a trench coat in a beautiful colour (ie, not black or beige) AND a tweed blazer. Coats are my nemesis and I keep not buying them because they're expensive and difficult to choose online. I'd get the personal shopper to make me buy tops. I buy skirts, dresses, jeans, jumpers etc, but I rarely buy tops that aren't plain black jersey. And I'd commission the perfect nude bra to go under white tops - not padded, not see-through, in a comfy cut.

New makeover and a fancy manicure and an extremely good and expensive hair cut. Personal trainer and chef for a year, and then I'd do it all again to get new smaller clothes (although could also get everything altered as I lost weight).

Ballcactus · 08/08/2022 11:31

Oooo on the perfume, I’d go and have my own scent made

FatherJacksBrick · 08/08/2022 11:56

A trip to the jewellery quarter to pick out the most fabulous stones and have them made into a set of fine jewellery just for me.

I used to want a boob job when I was younger, but I don't think I can be arsed now.

I'd love to have my own jewellery workshop in the garden so I could make my own fine jewellery and sell it if I felt inclined.

Lots of shoes. I like shoes.

Stickmansmum · 08/08/2022 12:08

Id buy a tumbledown stone barn within 30mins drive of home. I’d make it into a dream one bedroom hidey house with everything I need for escaping the chaos of daily life. It would be on a mature site in a bluebells wood or something and I’d have it totally cosy and easy to get warm or cool with all mod cons. I’d bring my cats and just go for a couple of days anytime I want.

abblie · 08/08/2022 12:17

Audi q7 £67,000 🤣 wouldn't think twice lol ahhhh it's nice to dream lol

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 08/08/2022 12:26

Buy all my kids a house. Gift money to siblings.
Quit work. Travel.New house.
Then once I was secure-have my horrible teeth done.
Have a personalised perfume analysis somewhere like Liberty, surely they must do something like that? Sitting there being cosseted,, drinking champagne and looked after. Then makeup and skin care. Maybe fly to Australia and have my skin sorted out at Rationale.

They’re nothing special! I like to accumulate plain-ish black dresses, knee length, simple styles. For work I wear them with a plain belt and cardigan and comfy flats. For evenings out I wear a designer belt, fancy bag and jewellery. I even took a linen one on holiday and it looks great with a sunhat and sandals :)

Yes I get this re the hair help!

On the dressing table front I'd have one of those ones that are all mirrored that Katharine Hepburn or Ginger Rogers sit at in old black and white movies. They're usually wearing a sort of silky white pyjama suit thing with a fur trim. Fur trim no good today though.

What places around the world should I fly to? New York, Paris, Milan spring to mind. What high end perfumier or couturier should I visit?

I love a black dress in summer!

Where do you get your plain knee length ones?

John Lewis - whatever’s on sale in my size, extra points if it’s 100% linen or cotton. I like Mango, Boden, Whistles… I have no brand loyalty but I just find the John Lewis app so easy to search through and there’s a huge variety available.

Yep I'll go here for a month please.

www.chivasom.com

Oh my yes please. I've optimistically bookmarked it. You know, just in case.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/08/2022 19:51

Thanks @Mrcpy I'm struggling to find 'perfect' black dresses for me - everything is so shapeless.

Thanks @Mrcpy I'm struggling to find 'perfect' black dresses for me - everything is so shapeless.

I have to admit, my dresses tend to be loose and shift style, but I wear them with a belt to create shape. That’s just how I like them. For context, I’m fairly slim and small-chested so I think it’s a look I can get away with. I can’t do bodycon in any sense as I don’t have the right curves!

Mrcpy · 08/08/2022 20:05

Sorry for derailing the thread. If I had unlimited money then I’d get haute couture black dresses that made me look like I had curves!
