Anyone else got big feet???

Bigfooty · 08/07/2022 21:32

I've got size 8 feet. Shoes look so nice in shops and when they bring them out in the 8 they never look so appealing. I'm 5ft 6 so not sure why I've ended up with big feet(I also seem to have really long fingers/hands) Was looking in several places today- Primark, New Look etc and they had a 7 but no 8s. Im not sure if that's because they're a popular size or whether it's unusual and they don't stock them. I wonder what the most common shoe size is for women?

Anyway, it doesn't bother me that much and I guess I have to embrace them!! Does anyone else have big feet like me??

Size 9. I love vintage clothes but have only ever nought two pairs of vintage shoes in my size. I find topshop do nice shoes in 8.

Crocsandshocks · 08/07/2022 21:37

Yes 9! I can only buy shoes in specialist shoe shops

ZaZathecat · 08/07/2022 21:38

Same height, same shoe size here and I know exactly how you feel! Though now I'm older I've got used to which shoes are going to look ok on me and which are going to look like battleships!

Garman · 08/07/2022 21:40

I'm a 7 or 8 depending on the shoe and shop, 5 ft 7, doesn't bother me tbh, shoes look fine!

EaselArt · 08/07/2022 21:42

Same problem as you, I absolutely hate buying shoes. Often I’ll ask for a style in my size to be told they don’t stock it, or have sold the one pair in my size already. Apparently they don’t sell many size 8s. No shit.

simonthedog · 08/07/2022 21:44

Yes size 8. Buying shoes is a nightmare, no where ever has them in stock

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 08/07/2022 21:45

Another 9 here.
i must just wear Birkies, Blundstone boots and trainers. Just as well I work in construction and can wear safety wellies for work.

if I could change anything about my body, it would be smaller feet. Middle age spread and shortsightedness be dammed! I don’t mind how my feet look. I’m tallish and fatish, so big feet look fine, but it’s a complete PITA buying shoes.

doadeer · 08/07/2022 21:45

I'm an 8, don't really find it an issue to find shoes, but I mainly shop online. I used to be self conscious but don't care now

No and I can't work out whether it's unusual or whether the size 8s go first!!!

Yep, size 7.5 or 8 (EU41) with massive hands to go with. And am 5ft5.

My favourite thing about my feet is that they are long and elegant, the only long elegant thing about me.

I am also convinced that some Pilates stuff is easier for me because I’ve got more surface area to balance on 😀

I do occasionally think that some shoes look better in a smaller size.

TheMess · 08/07/2022 21:54

I prefer to think of my size 42 feet as 'long' as well. Long and elegant. I always try to have a nice red polish on the toenails.

Léighméleabhair · 08/07/2022 21:54

Pfft. You're all Amazonians. 😂
Size 8 feet
5'2"
Massive hands too.
No-one would ever call me dainty. 🤣

DramaAlpaca · 08/07/2022 22:00

I'm a 7.5 or 8 depending on make, but my feet are long and skinny and I'm 5'10 so I'm in proportion. My main difficulty is finding shoes narrow enough, especially round the heel.

Abracadabra12345 · 08/07/2022 22:26

5’4” and a wide size 8 and have always hated them. I drool at pretty shoes but could never buy them as they draw attention to my feet

The first thing my dh said to me was 'wow, you've got massive hands' I can reach and octave and a half on the piano with my one hand 😂

Depending on the brand, I'm at least an 8.5 - a 42 or 43. I know LOADS of people with feet this size and above! It is so frustrating and 8 just isn't particularly large!

I remember a particularly ridiculous conversation with the shop assistant way back when I was about 14 when asking for an 8: "I'm sorry - the demand is so great and we get so few pairs in" ..... FFS. And that was 35 years ago - demand must be even greater now as people get offer & taller and shoe shops need to catch up.

I now buy from a shop that starts at 8 and goes up to about 12. Bloody expensive (lucky to get change from £100) but they last for years, or wear trainers - Adidas or Asics go large - or sandals so my toes fit 😀

TitInATrance · 08/07/2022 22:33

Same as you, have to wear men’s gloves and shoe size 41. Further complicated by a huge bunion on one foot, so one foot is extra wide and the other isn’t. I have more shoes than ever before because if they fit I have to buy them before they disappear!

runwithme · 08/07/2022 22:36

I'm a 8 to 9, currently squeezed my feet into a pair of Havianas that day they are an 8 but are clearly lying!

I follow wide fit boutique on Instagram...its worth a look..I also get shoes from Evans, Tu and George. No trendy shops for me!

DelurkingAJ · 08/07/2022 22:36

8 with a AA fitting. Buying shoes that fit is a perennial nightmare. And yes, lots of styles just look clunky in an 8.

imnottoofussed · 08/07/2022 22:36

I'm a size 42 which is an 8. The main problem I find is loads of places bring you a size 41/8 erm no that isn't an 8. In fact some shops I now have to get a size 9 if they do them just to get a 42.

Ooh, what shop is that, please?

I'm a 42/43 as well. It doesn't bother me now, but did when i was younger. I don't think I actually own any actual shoe-shoes, though - I have boots, sandals, or running shoes.

JellyBellyNelly · 08/07/2022 22:42

I’m a Uk size 10 and buy from Crispins, Magnus and Cinderella Shoes who all start at size 8 and 9.

After many years of being a size 41 I'm suddenly finding that they are too small and I need a 42. Do feet grow in menopause?? My feet were a size 41 at the age of 10, so shoe shopping has never been fun; as a child it was always one pair, take it or leave it. Can seldom find my size in shops, it's invariably sold out or I'm told it's a very popular size (to which my reply is a silent 'well, why don't you stock more of them ffs').
