What was the last perfume that was so bad you had to scrub it straight off?

Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk for me.

Was hoping for something salty and coconutty and beachy in a fresh way. Got cloying ylang-ylang with a hunt of synthetic suncream and very little else. Really dated and old lady ish, like it could be by Yardley. Awful awful awful.

Glad I only bought a sample.

Red Roses reminded me of rose air freshener you occasionally smell in loos.

I usually wear narciso Rodriguez so purchased just the 'Narciso' online without smelling it.

Horrendous, nothing like the other scent, so heavy and like an old 80s perfume.

I wanted to like SJP Stash but it smelled like turpentine on me.

An Aldi dupe of Angel smelled strongly of a base of fake cedar, giving the impression that I was covering up body odour with cheap perfume.

I tried Mugler’s Angel Nova in a department store the other week (wore Alien for years but no more) and it absolutely wiped me out with a migraine within an hour!

I like scent of a dream but yes it is old fashioned.

Alien, Clinique Aromatics and Angel are unbelievably foul.

Oh gosh I forgot this one! I bought it when it first came out because I wanted to be cool and all the perfume obsessives on fragranatica were describing it as sexy. When I finally sprayed it at home my then boyfriend started coughing and said "oh god, what is that? What have you done?" I never wore it again 🤣

Kenzo amour, when it's on my skin it's exactly like the boots nail varnish remover for weak nails, a mix of baby powder, cotton and harsh chemicals.

Jo Malone Orange Blossom.

Gave me the most horrendous headache. Gave the full bottle away after one wear.

Mitsouko. I remembered trying a sample year ago and loving it, but this time I couldn’t wait to scrub it off.

Chanel anything unfortunately. Just don’t work on me (and I honestly think Chanel No 5 is pretty bad on everyone…! Old lady smell)

D.S. & Durga Hungry Like the Wolf - needed something to make up about 40 quid for the Liberty GWP. 10ml (originally £75), limited edition, Duran Duran - thought it would be a shoe-in.

Mind you, the Liberty GWP more than made up for it.

Angel. No amount of scrubbing would take it off I felt sick all day. Someone had it on at a party I was at yesterday and i wanted to throw up 🤢

Mon Guerlain Sparkling Bouquet was vile. I had to wash my wrists.
Miss Dior is rank as is Angel.
Chanel No 5 smells like talc. I didn't wash it off and it just made me feel sick all day.

SJP lovely. I had read so many good reviews that I bought it. OMG it was like a tom cat had pissed on me.

Alien. Tried it once years ago- never again.
It's very popular amongst my work colleagues at the moment and I try to analyse the smell to gain insight I to why it's so loved but can find absolutely nothing pleasant about it.

A Gucci one- I told the assistant I was nearly crying missing the original Gucci and she brought out a flowery smelling one and said it was very similar. I’m afraid I wasn’t great, after she sprayed it I said ‘oh god it’s awful’ without thinking and she actually took a step back (still feeling guilty!)

Speaking of cat piss, Versace Women needs a shout out.

Clinique Happy perfume smells like piss on me, I liked it on first spritz but doesn't mix well with me. I got a bottle of Modern Muse from Estee Lauder as a gift, not my usual type of perfume but it's nice. I kept getting nausea and headaches whenever I wore it, I never get headaches! I think it was the third time I wore it and found myself gipping in a public toilet after an hour. I had to wash it off for my own dignity.

I threw up once after spraying myself with Thierry muglers Angel at the airport - can't stand it now! I always like it when I get a waft off another person wearing it though strangely.

I also love Penhaligons halfeti but can't wear it as it reminds me of the smell of gas and air when I was in labour - it makes me feel weird!

I agree with Clinique happy and modern muse too - horrible.

I have a huge bottle of modern muse someone bought me that I use as air freshener! I can't get rid of the damn thing!
