Skin & Me reviews?

There are loads of people on here saying skin & me is good but usually followed by here’s my discount code!

if you have used skin & me did it make a difference to your skin & could you justify the cost?
did the one tube thing last a whole month or did you need to order more often?

I used it for a while, maybe 6-9 months

I stopped because the higher tret % (possibly combined with winter) was making my skin dry and flaky. And it wasn’t sorting my acne like I’d hoped. But then nothing has ever sorted it so can’t really hold that against them.

I’d like to give it another go but am a bit put off by the difficulty in tailoring it to what I want, ie putting the % of tret up and down. It’s possible but requires an online consultation form, photos and then waiting for a response, then waiting for it to feed through to next month’s tube etc.

The tube did last a month as it dispenses a set amount each day (you turn till it clicks).

aharddaysnight · 27/06/2022 14:40

My skin definitely looks better since I've been using it (about 4 months) but I was previously someone who did next to no skincare at all. I know nothing about skin products and have just find it very simple to use as it's only one product. I haven't had any reactions at all (my skin didn't look worse before it got better) and I've had very few spots since I started using Skin and Me.

I know I'm paying above the odds for the convienience, but I am very lazy and would not maintain a complicated skin routine :).

The tube gives out 28 doses, but I can always get another 2 or 3 days after the tube shows empty so it's lasted at least a month.

CurlsLDN · 27/06/2022 14:58

I've been using it about 4 months and it's made a great difference to my acne and acne scarred skin. The texture is much improved.
The only other thing that has helped me is hospital prescribed roaccutane years ago, so it's worth it to me!

Ultimately the ingredients work for me, and I could have bought those ingredients in other places, potentially cheaper I guess, but I like the way an expert alters my prescription month to month for me as my skin gets used to it, I like the 'daily doser' so I know I'm using the right amount (it lasts just over a month) and I find the website easy and pleasant to use, so if Im paying for service, I'm happy with what I'm paying for.

Maisa45 · 27/06/2022 15:12

I was so excited to start using it but my skin HATED it. I persevered for six months but I looked so awful I had to stop. I looked even more wrinkly and haggard because my skin was so dry and inflamed.

One thing I will say about the company is their service is very good - they were quick to prescribe me a new tube and send it out free of charge when I started to experience problems due to tret increase and they did this more than once. Unfortunately even going back down to the initial lower dose still irritated my skin immensely so I had to stop altogether. I still have a couple of tubes to use up so I'm using it on my forehead as it seems to be the only part of my face that will tolerate it.

A lot of other people seem to like it - we are all different. I wish I could use tret but what's the point of an anti ageing product that just makes me look worse?

MsOllie · 27/06/2022 15:15

Huge difference to my skin
Cleared my acne, minimised wrinkles and my skin glows. The before and after is insane

Purpleavocado · 27/06/2022 15:20

I really like it and have so quite a few times on here - buy I've never given my discount code 😂
I think the access to reasonably priced retinol is brilliant. My skin is smooth and looks pretty good for my age.
I prefer skin + me to dermatica as the dispenser is much better. It lasts just over a month for me.
With any of these products the key is to build up over time. If you have never used tret before ignore the advice they give you. Use it once every three days for a couple of weeks. If your skin is tolerating that, use it every other day. Eventually you will be ale to use it daily. Always use sunscreen. Be wary of using any other acids in your routine

picklemewalnuts · 27/06/2022 15:27

Interesting! I've just signed up because of one of those codes!

Forpoxsake · 27/06/2022 16:06

I have already signed up using the codes (cos I’m a sucker for a discount and it was only £3.50)
but just wanted an unbiased review, thanks all and will follow the advice about not using everyday at first.
I think long term I will end up spending less as I have a drawer full of lotions and potions but when I have a flare up of acne it’s hard to pinpoint what it could be, so the online advice will be a big help I think.
Thanks all 💐

I've been using prescription retinol and then tret for a while and switched to skin and as it was slightly cheaper than my dr prescribed one and also the tret she had me on mad y skin really flaky (0.025). Now on skin and me 0.024 which is more tolerable, lasts as long as it should or a few days more, and since using it I've not had a single pre-menstrual boil on my chin, which I was getting regularly before. So thumbs up from me.

Forpoxsake · 27/06/2022 16:31

Wow @MsOllie your skin is gorgeous now.
your pre picture looks a lot like me at the moment!

Ooh, that's a bit tingly! Tonight's my first dose. Not sure about it, to be honest!
The cleanser and moisturiser feel nice in a bland way. The dose stuff is getting a bit hot feeling. Hope that's normal!

toastfiend · 27/06/2022 20:36

@picklemewalnuts that tingling feeling was normal for me, I still get it occasionally if they've changed the formulation. My skin goes red, too, but it's always settled by the morning.

I really rate Skin + Me. Have been using it for a while (although never shared my code on here... 🤣) and my skin is so much better, I don't get pre-menstrual acne or blackheads anymore, which used to be a real problem, and my pores on my nose have really tightened up. I feel like my skin "glows" now. I do get the odd bit of dryness so I don't use it every day when they change the dose, and I use Ren Comforting Balm a few times a week, which helps with any peeling. I think it's good value compared to all the lotions and potions I was buying before, my dosers always last several days after the month is up, too.

picklemewalnuts · 27/06/2022 20:40

That's good to hear, Toastfiend.

I've only ever bought cheap stuff. This is a huge departure for me.

29ac · 27/06/2022 21:42

I love it. I used to get horrible under the skin spots on my chin, have had them for years. The only thing that has cleared them up is skin and me. I’d tried so many skincare products before and none of them touched it.

it’s also really help to simplify my routine, I use quite ‘plain’ products now and stripped out loads of
unnecessary things. My skin is better than ever and I even get compliments on it now! I’ve been using it 6 months and now I use it every other night.

Cherryana · 27/06/2022 21:49

I used it for 6 months or so - they never prescribed me tret. I was prescribed Niacimide or something like that.

It was good- I stopped using it when I found myself not finishing tubes because I didn’t need to put it on everyday.

I would recommend the company.

Ponks · 27/06/2022 23:27

I've been using Skin & Me for the last 5 months and can't say I'm noticing much difference in my skin ( I'm using it for wrinkles and pigmentation). They did start me on a very very low % of tret though, it has been gradually increasing month on month but still only 0.018%. Think I'm going to give it until the end of the year then decide if it's worth continuing.

doadeer · 28/06/2022 08:29

I prefer dermatica - stronger dose of Tret and the tube lasts me 6 weeks.

My skin is the best it's ever been.

Forpoxsake · 28/06/2022 08:33

Is there much difference in the price @doadeer ?
without the extra cleanser and moisturiser S&M is £24.99

OP posts:
doadeer · 28/06/2022 08:42

Yes Dermatica is cheaper I think it's £20 a bottle but that always lasts more than a month and I use it most days

picklemewalnuts · 28/06/2022 09:34

I wouldn't know what to do, if I wasn't using a prepackaged option.

I bought a variety of inexpensive bits in the past- serums and things.

It's hard to know what to use when, though. The simplicity of this appeals. Though for the cost, I guess I could afford to experiment.

So longer term, it's £25 a month for the doser? I didn't get as far as reading beyond the initial cost/deal! Covid Brain!

picklemewalnuts · 28/06/2022 09:36

So for wrinkling and pigmentation, is it the tret that's doing the job?

The fact that the three active ingredients are all applied at the same time, after cleansing and before moisturising is easy to follow, on a diy basis.

TunaSalad · 28/06/2022 10:13

I just signed up after seeing it in on here an started last night. I get married next year so would like my skin to be radiant and as wrinkle free as possible.

This seems easy enough to follow so fingers crossed it works for me.

My DP suffers with rosacea so he is going to sign up to get their anti redness one I think.

Forpoxsake · 30/06/2022 08:07

For those who have used skin and me can you advise me about the doser, used it for the first time last night, it clicked as I first opened it but then I could keep Turning it.
does it click for each new day or do you have to look at the lines on the side to guide you?

OP posts:
Gridhopper · 30/06/2022 08:16

it clicks at the end of your dose, so stop turning when you hear the click (though maybe the first time you use it it clicks on opening too - can’t remember!). My tube lasts twice as long as it should because my skin can’t handle the full whack every day, think I have a small face! Make sure you leave it a good 10/15 mins after washing your face before applying, I didn’t and got in a bit of a mess at first. Hope it works for you!
