Can you end a lifetime's search for lipstick for cool toned people?

Please help me find the perfect lip colour after a lifetime of searching. 🙏 I'm Caucasian with fairly tanned skin, which I think has a cool undertone. My hair is dark brown and my eyes green. Due to colouring I've been told (by a colour expert) to always wear cool tones next to my skin, as warm tones make me look like death (my quote not hers!). This is definitely the case with clothes, so white suits me but cream looks awful.

Similarly with lip colour, anything with a hint of autumn looks terrible on me, any hint of orange. Blueish toned pinks are good. As I've aged (40) very dark colours aren't great either.

I've had a look in Boots and Space NK but everything seems to be rusty, orangey, muted browny shades, dark plum etc. even Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury which is famously meant to suit everybody looks awful on me.

Anyone of similar colouring got any recommendations? TIA

I'm cool toned but with not so tanned skin. I also have a bit of a lipstick problemGrin. For pinks I like Nars Audacious in Vera, Charlotte Tilbury in The Queen and L'Oréal in Cassis Passion. Reds I like are Charlotte Tilbury Soo Red, Urban decay Gash and Becca Ruby (discontinued, but I bought a load on eBay to stockpile).

Also Mac Rebel and Dior Rouge.
I’ve got House of Colour 50 as a neutral lipstick for work too.

Am also going to use this thread for new ideas!

Fairly tanned people tend to be warm rather than cool! For cool think South Korea, Japan or Scandinavia. For warm think sun-kissed skin just got off the place from somewhere sunny and fab!
Liptick is my biggest weakness when it comes to make up. I look like death without make up but lipstick takes me to the next level with zero hassle so I love it because I can't always be bothered to put on even half a face let alone a full-face!
So, if blue-toned lipstick -my favourite- looks amazing on you I've got a few to recommend, all of which are cold:

  • MAC Ruby Woo - the ultimate cool blue-toned red. It perks up the face in the most amazing way. It's very much one of those I have arrived lipsticks. You can get a mini and use it for parties. Not everybody feels comfortable with red.

  • MAC Flat Out Fabulous - super wearable fuchsia, it's a bit toned down compared to Breathing Fire but still very much a bright colour.

  • MAC Breathing Fire - dark fuschia matte; brights up the whole face. If you're tanned should look fab on you, heck I love it and I'm pretty pale! You can get a mini for this.

  • Lâncome Pink Seduction (370) - blue pink; it's a very fun pink. Depending on how tanned you look, it might be too much so try it in store.

  • MAC Captive- plum rose // MAC Craving - similar but slightly less cool

  • MAC Girl About Town -dark fuschia

  • MAC Joie de Vivre - berry

  • MAC Mehr - super wearable dirty blue pink; very nudey pink; looks brown on some people, so try it; you can get the mini.

  • MAC Please Me - It's a very nudey peach; it's warm not cold but it's a very wearable colour so I added it here; give it a try.

  • MAC Plumful/Sweetie - plum; super wearable

How tanned are you? I have several lighter colours I could recommend but they might potentially wash you out...
I mostly stuck to MAC because they're the best bang for your buck NARS have pretty fab colours too.
I've got some (a whole list actually 😊) I can recommend for Tom Ford and Urban Decay too, though I don't know how good their latest revamp is tbh. I've got a list for YSL too (because I love lipstick...).

Sorry, South Korea and Japan aren't cool, they're usually warm as they've got a yellow undertone! Scandinavians are usually cool (more pink).

Try searching for raspberry lipsticks

Thesheerrelief · 23/06/2022 21:08

Vieve Muse in Promise
Mac Faux
Mac Sultriness

MAC Faux is pretty warm. I have it though and it's a lovely colour but I'm not it whether it wouldn't wash out a very tanned person.

Lots of my favourites being recommended here. Flat Out Fabulous is possibly the shade that suits me more than any other lipstick but I wish it came in a different finish - retro matte is so drying eventually.

Also recommend Relentlessly Red

The way lipsticks show depends on your lip colour as well.

Eg Mac Mehr goes bright fuchsia pink on me!
