Can you end a lifetime's search for lipstick for cool toned people?

Please help me find the perfect lip colour after a lifetime of searching. 🙏 I'm Caucasian with fairly tanned skin, which I think has a cool undertone. My hair is dark brown and my eyes green. Due to colouring I've been told (by a colour expert) to always wear cool tones next to my skin, as warm tones make me look like death (my quote not hers!). This is definitely the case with clothes, so white suits me but cream looks awful.

Similarly with lip colour, anything with a hint of autumn looks terrible on me, any hint of orange. Blueish toned pinks are good. As I've aged (40) very dark colours aren't great either.

I've had a look in Boots and Space NK but everything seems to be rusty, orangey, muted browny shades, dark plum etc. even Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury which is famously meant to suit everybody looks awful on me.

Anyone of similar colouring got any recommendations? TIA

My favourite everyday is Mac Faux
My favourite bold / red is Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge
My favourite tinted balm is Bobby Brown Jelly Stick in Tahiti

Mac Ruby Woo and Flat Out Fabulous work for me. I’m very cool toned and look like death in anything with a hint of a warm undertone.

Funny, I'm warm toned and was unsuccessfully scouring Boots the other day for anything that didn't go pink once applied!

Clinique Black Honey is pretty famous and can be a wash of tint or quite a rich berry if you layer it up a bit.

I also recommend the MAC website for a virtual try on of all their shades.

I also recommend Stila Baci. I think I have similar colouring to you dark brown hair, green eyes. I would describe my skin tone as olive and weirdly I would say it's sometimes cool but sometime warm toned!

I feel you (Pillow Talk looks awful on me!). Also, every lipstick seems to turn orange on my lips. I have finally found a lovely bluish-pink - Cosmetics a La Carte Misty Rose. I’m fairly pale, though

Another vote for MAC faux, and I agree with using their website to try them on a photo/ using your camera - I find it to be quite accurate

MAC Up the Amp looks scarily fuchsia in the tube but you can apply one layer to get a cool rose colour or several for a bold colour.

I find it really difficult to find cool shades - everything seems warm toned at the moment. Although you have to factor in how shades seem to change colour against different skin tones and lip colours. I'm not sure Black Honey is cool, unless they've changed the colour since I was young recently.

I'm a cool toned blonde ( naturally a brunette , but grey happened) with blue/grey eyes and also look shit in Pillow Talk. Why do we fall for all this 'suits everyone' nonsense?? Black Honey also looks dire on me, it goes a weird muddy colour.

Raspberries, blue toned pinks and pinky Corals all look good on me, even though I have quite ruddy toned skin.

Nars Schiap and Niagara both work really well with my skin.

The other thing that made a massive difference was whitening my teeth. So many more lipstick shades look good now they're not battling with warm toned teeth!

They should stop saying pillow talk looks good on everyone. I don't know anyone who likes it apart from one lady at work and tbh I think jt looks shit on her too.

I totally agree! I actually think Rimmels Asia is a lot more universally flattering (but even then it doesn't suit everyone).

Rimmel Asia is ok. Maybelline have a lot of cool tones.

Go to the House of Color website and check out their cool toned lipsticks.

Try Charlotte tilbury lost cherry (pinky red) and coral kiss.

It's not a proper lipstick but one of the most flattering colours I've found is Mavala lip balm in berry. It's dark purple in the tube but obviously as a balm it's light and subtle. Makes me look much healthier on limited make up days!

Pillow talk is horrible on me but Rimmel Asia (mentioned above) is lovely for cooler days!

I also came on to recommend Mac - I use flat out fabulous (purple pink), candy yum yum (pink), Russian red, violetta (blue/purple) and all fired up (pink/red)

For a neutral I wear Mac please me.
