I want a sea breeze with maybe a walk through the woods, camping beside an open fire, open water. A fresh summer/coastal scent that isn't cloying like the old Bodyshop Oceanus. It would work well for running on the beach in shorts and a tee but also for evening dining.

Does something like this exist?
I like the 'palm trees' and other 'provenance' range from M&S but they don't last 5 mins on me.

You lot guided me to Cliniques 'elixir' last xmas and it is still my favourite winter scent, so I trust you with my summer one!

Clarins eau ressourcante definitely gives me "sea breeze" vibes along with summer and fresh coastal.

Branleuse · 20/06/2022 19:20

Theres some really summery Tom ford ones if you want one with longevity.

WhereAreWeNow · 20/06/2022 19:37

Have you tried Maison Margiela 'Sailing Day'?

florianfortescue · 20/06/2022 19:39

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt smells like this to me.

Tom Ford Portofino is also very beachy I think.

Badger1970 · 20/06/2022 19:41

J'Adore in Joy is a gorgeous scent . It's one of my favourite ever summer ones, and lasts well without being cloying.

Some of the men’s Chanel ones are like this, I think. Lovely and fern-y.

RedRec · 20/06/2022 20:08

Sounds like Davidoff Cool Water to me.

MadameOvary81 · 20/06/2022 20:11

Your description made me thing of Clean - Rain

All of their scent's are like you describe. My personal favourite is Fresh Laundry.

I also came on to say Tom Ford’s Portofino. It’s my summer scent, I love it.

otterlybonkers · 20/06/2022 20:17

Ooh, these sound great will make a list, perhaps a trip to john lewis!

Thanks so much:)

The Jo Malone mentioned above fits the bill.
As does Monotheme Mediterranean Coast (from M&S)
Heeley Sel Marin too.
Or, probably the one which you're describing perfectly- Bobbi Brown Beach. It smells of wet sand, seaweed and salty woods, (in a good way) Discontinued I think, but you can pick it up on eBay.
Chanel Paris-Edimbourg is also woody and cyprussy.

The Tom Ford and all other variations of neroli/orange blossom are much sweeter, though also lovely and summery.

I came to say wood sage and sea salt too.

Also love the Tom Ford one mentioned here but it doesn't feel beachy to me. The blue clarins one is also great

Try the website parfumado it's really good. £12 a month and they send a travel size each month which actually stretches quite far, either you pick it or they send you their perfume of the month. But there's a lot of detail in the descriptions and reviews so sure you would be able to find a few months worth to fit your brief!

otterlybonkers · 20/06/2022 22:24

Love the sound of Perfumado, thanks!

I have always had issues with jo malone, tried around 6 fragrances in the past and they all smell a bit odd to me, like vomit - i realise that sounds stupid, insane even, but i wonder if it just doesnt suit my skin? The basil one made me heave.
I will definitely check it out.

Thanks everyone.

Have you smelt samphire by laboratory perfumes? It’s just like a fresh day at the sea it’s beautiful

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/06/2022 22:57

Heeley Sel Marin fits your brief perfectly. MMM Beach Walk is lovely too but does have a bit of sweetness to it which you might not like.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/06/2022 23:19

There is a brand called inis that do a perfume that smells like the seaside. I have it and it's so fresh and lovely - everyone always comments when I have it on.

StellaAndCrow · 21/06/2022 01:22

The Bloom Perfumery does themed sets of samples, from various brands, and has a "Beach Memories and Salty Breeze" pack.
bloomperfume.co.uk/products/beach-memories-and-salty-breeze-pack

I've tried their sample packs before, and they're great, come with descriptions of the fragrances. You can also buy the samples individually I think.

ferretface · 21/06/2022 12:01

Laboratory Perfumes Gorse which is itself quite similar to Creed Virgin Island Water. These are not aquatics which maybe you're looking for but they are very coastal in feel and definitely work as day to night perfumes.

Faciadipasta · 21/06/2022 12:02

Sel Marin just smells fishy to me. I totally don't get it. Yuck.

ferretface · 21/06/2022 12:03

@Missymare good shout on the Samphire. I like pretty much everything that Laboratory Perfumes make!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/06/2022 14:29

That’s quite rude @Faciadipasta !

justasking111 · 21/06/2022 14:32

I'm rationing my Calyx which Clinique bought and discontinued the bastard's

Cotswoldmama · 21/06/2022 14:36

Not sure about the woods bit but Dune by Dior or Escape by Calvin Klein are very oceany and long lasting.
