How often do you go shopping for new clothes?

How much do you spend in one shopping trip? Where do you shop for new clothes?

OP posts:

A might pick up £10 of cheap Primark tshirts every 3 months or so. Bigger purchases a couple of times a year.

I just spent £135 on jeans, blazers, tshirts and some workout leggings & that seemed extravagant.

When something needs replacing, so barely ever clothes, shoes occasionally.
Shoes in Clark's. Clothes a mix of M&S, Gap, H&M and Fat Face.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/06/2022 21:24

Haven’t bought clothes for maybe 3 years.
when I do again, charity shops.
clothes not a priority 😁

LookdeepintotheParka · 17/06/2022 22:25

I probably buy clothes every couple of months (often from charity shops rather than new) but find it endlessly frustrating as I can never find what I'm looking for! I love beauty and fragrance and trying new products but am having to cut back with everything going up so much in price 😭

Metabigot · 18/06/2022 14:10

Constantly!

Sorry pressed post by accident

Way more often than I need to. I buy at least one proper item of clothing or shoes per month, usually more than 1. My wardrobe is full and I should be cutting down but I'm always seeing something that would fill a 'gap' in my clothing or shoe options.

Plus socks/underwear as needed.

OompaLoompaa · 18/06/2022 15:39

I order something from Next about three times a month. I may pop into town and buy something from New Look, M&S or Primark about every 6 weeks. I buy a couple of bags from Coach or Michael Kors twice a year. I probably spend £100 to £150 per month on clothes and an average of £40 per month on bags.
Last year I did a big £900 Hush order.

thefirstfortyeight · 18/06/2022 15:45

Maybe twice a year? I hate it!

carefullycourageous · 18/06/2022 15:46

In bursts, with big gaps. I buy new shoes, bags and coats, then try to get everything else from charity shops. Because I buy secondhand, I don't spend much, I've bought four dresses, two pairs of trousers, a skirt, four tops and two cardigans in the last month, total about £50. Plus a pair of shoes and a bag new.

I needed a lot all at once as so many things had got totally worn out to the point of holes. Now I'll leave it probably until September when I need clothes for colder weather.

I do struggle to get long sleeved t-shirts secondhand so sometimes get those new.

NewYorkLassie · 18/06/2022 15:52

Genuinely can’t remember the last time I went on a shopping trip. But I’m constantly scanning a bunch of online stores and probably spend £250-£300 per month.

SandAndSea · 18/06/2022 16:00

I just shop when I need something as I find having a capsule-type wardrobe works best for me.

I mostly shop online and end up sending almost everything back.

Well done, that’s a brilliant shop.

I pick up something at least once a week in the charity shop! Normally it's a £5 designer piece that sells new for £150+. I have far too many clothes but do try to declutter regularly.

I am very chuffed!

I buy something new most weeks as I love shopping and get bored easily
I probably spend £1000 a year on clothes
love browsing charity shops, eBay and outlets

GettingStuffed · 26/07/2022 12:44

When I see something I like at a good price. I'm currently commuting between 2 houses and the heatwave hit while I was at my MiL's house so I had to buy lighter clothing, shorts and vest top from peacocks. My MiL vetoed my running style shorts as too short. She's a lovely woman but has advanced Alzheimer's and it's not worth trying to get your point across any more

NancyJoan · 26/07/2022 12:48

I probably buy something every couple of weeks. Occasionally do a big order from Zara, but usually buy things in dribs and drabs. I mostly spend £150-£200 a month, sometimes more, esp before a holiday. I buy from Zara, H&M, Stories, Cos. Love an EBay buy too, my Grenson boots last winter were £120 for unworn boots that were still on sale for over £300 in the shops.

Lovinglife45 · 26/07/2022 13:40

I last bought clothing and footwear in April. Due to the rising cost of living and my aim to save, I decided not to make any purchases over summer. It is proving difficult as I have seen some lovely cotton dresses and jumpsuits ideal for the hot weather.

tvgatlop · 26/07/2022 14:58

I buy every week nearly.
A blazer or a top/jeans etc
This week I've bought a nice blue satin halter top for a night out.
Last week I bought a top from Zara and week before a dress from H&M
Will pick up bits like socks /knickers every month just to keep topped up

IrishMamaMia · 26/07/2022 16:16

I definitely buy something at least monthly, usually at the cheaper end of the scale. I like H&m, Boden sale and second hand. I definitely want to cut back with the rise in cost of living but it's going to be hard as clothes are my great love and indulgence. I don't colour my hair or have any treatments so this is my thing :)

MistyRock · 26/07/2022 16:38

I've bought a lot this month as we're moving and I'm worried the new place (cental Asia) won't have what I need size or style wise. My jeans all had holes so I bought 2 new pairs, they are the perfect length on me (Mango). 2 pairs of sandals as I had to bin my trainers as they are seriously damaging my feet. I've also bought 6 t-shirts from H&M (20% off) and 2 from Mango. I feel like I'm ready and prepared now. I do buy quite a lot, but where I live its so hot and I do think the constant heat and sweat damages clothes.

familyissues12345 · 26/07/2022 16:49

Bought loads recently as I've got a new job with a diff dress code! Prior to this, probably something every couple of months?

SpiderVersed · 26/07/2022 16:50

Summer sale and January sale to replace whatever’s stained/worn out.
