Help! I need a dress to cover my fat belly 😮

Hi I really want to buy some dresses. I’m slim all over but have a very bloated , large belly . The last time I wore a long skirt a lady asked me if I was pregnant 😳
the long maxi dresses also make me look pregnant . I have no clue about fashion / clothes . Can anyone suggest what style of dress covers the belly please ?

I bought this from Asda. It's really flattering.

The gathering reaches the waist so it covers the belly nicely.

I have this dress in both red and black. It looks much better in real life than it does on the model, is really good quality and hides a multitude of sins without being frumpy.

I really liked this one as it didn’t show up my belly . Worth a try it’s only £12 something on Amazon.

I would suggest buying a dress with an empire line which has gathering under the bust. Take a look at Seasalt Chapelle dress or their Seed Packet dress.

Those Chapelle dresses are selling out so be quick! I hope Seasalt will bring them back next year as they are fab.

I had to look the Chapelle dress up and sorry to say (to people who like it) but I think it looks awful! Beyond frumpy.

I'm slim and had a large, bloated belly. Turned out that I have coeliac disease. A gluten free diet has been brilliant and then later, after tests and being referred again to the dietician, I was diagnosed as having IBS and put on the FODMAP diet. Tummy now only bloated if I eat stuff not on the diet sheet....

Here to steal all the ideas. Always been flat stomach / big hips and bum and very pear shape.

WHAMO - peri menopause and covid. Massive bloating. Now an apple shape. Noooo idea how to dress anymore. 😭

i did have blood tests but nothing really showed up . I’m lying here now after being in a lot of pain after eating a cheese and pickle sandwich ☹️ No matter what I eat or even if I don’t eat my belly is bloated and painful 😖

I'm so sorry 😞. Have you asked for a referral to the dietician? It might also be useful to have a chat with the nurse at the coeliac society. Just Google it for the number. The blood tests are pretty accurate but not infallible so it might be also useful to try a totally gluten free diet for a couple of weeks to see if you feel better. However don't do this if you have a repeat blood test or an endoscopy coming up as it will affect the results. (My mum had a form of coeliac disease and both my younger brothers have it as well as me, so I know a little more than most people...)

Skims worked a treat for my wedding...take some getting on but smooths everything.

My stomach is not in proportion to the rest of my body and has got worse during peri menopause. Two people have asked me when I’m due or I get obvious glares at my stomach! I find that smock dresses help to cover my stomach so they might work for you too. Hope you manage to find something suitable.

I'm the same and have recently been looking at dresses.
I can't do empire line since my belly protrudes right from the top or no waist at all, since both still make me look pregnant.
I also have broad shoulders so can't really wear spaghetti straps plus I dont like flowery designs so it's really hard!
I've found wrap dresses are forgiving - you can tie them looser and the bow gives a distraction. From the front they look good, from the side I still look a little pregnant but I just don't stand side on to people.
