Eyeshadow pallete which of these are warm colours?

It's urban decay New York pallets

I went for a makeup lesson recently and she said this pallete was no good for my skin tone. I need warm colours.

Since I already have this, I don't want to chuck or pass on unless I really have to. I thought

Would you say any of these are warm shades? If so which ones please

It's a mix of warm and cool. The warm colours are the pinks and red, the cool blues and greens. As a guide warm are the colours that you find in fire and the cools in ice.

however a lot of people in the UK verge on neutral , for instance I have reddish hair and a creamy skin tone is warm but my blue green eyes are cool so I can wear a lot of colours that don't "match" my colours

Oceanus · 16/06/2022 11:21

Some of these look warm but it's hard to say for sure unless I'm looking at a swatch because they often look soooo different from the pan!
You can wear whatever the heck you want. Warm or cold. Just don't use them by themselves and get a transition shade that suits you, I've found that works great for me. There are shades like corals and oranges that I would never wear alone but if I add something to the crease or the V, almost anything and everything goes. I pretty much only wear eyeshadow as eyeliner too which makes a lot of the "unwearable" ones "wearable".

Would this palette be safe to use considering it was launched ten years ago? I have one but don't use it any more I kept it as I love the packaging.

TheDarrellRivers · 16/06/2022 14:21

Also possibly the pale pink if it had a golden undertone

What @TheDarrellRivers said. Possibly rockstar too but hard to tell if its silver or golden based metallic on that picture

Oceanus · 16/06/2022 14:48

I think that medium blue-teal looks warm too on online swatches.

Nat6999 · 16/06/2022 14:53

The middle two rows look warm colours, if you choose to buy more the Urban Decay Naked pallette is all warm colours

I have the naked 2 pallette as well but again she said it was more pinky (I'm Asian) and too cool

I was getting a bit confused between warm and cool coz I thought gold was well suited to my tone

I don't bother about stuff like that, what could be wrong with it?

Tell me more about transition shades

MenaiMna · 16/06/2022 15:13

Avoid the diagonal line top left to bottom right: black, pink, aqua, lilac. The rest are warm enough.

Oceanus · 16/06/2022 15:31

I'm giving you my example to make it easier: I'm NC15 (in MAC Studio Fix Fluid) with brown eyes so I'm pretty light and yellow-ish (I'm warm). Because I'm so yellow, I look much better in pink because it tones down the yellow. Very orange shades tend to bring out the yellow in me, so things like coral (blush) make look a bit sickly. If I do an all coral eye look I don't look great but I can use tone down the orange with another shade. I use a transition shade to blend the coral in the crease so the coral doesn't stand so orangey next to skin by itself or I'll use just a bit the coral on the crease next to a more neutral lid shade and go in with sth like MAC Orb/Grain to blend the coral. I have several transitions shades I favour: Blackberry, Haux, Cozy Grey, Quarry, Wedge and Vanilla, Orb and Grain work best for me and I can pretty much fit one of them in no matter what eyeshadow I pick for the lid.

Oceanus · 16/06/2022 15:33

If you're Asian, are you sure you're cool? Typically Asians lean more yellow than pink -which is great for sb like me because most Asian make up suits me!😁

Copied from an sticker online

Generally, experts agree that using eyeshadow that is slightly past its expiration date shouldn't case you too many issues. However, it isn't recommended, and you shouldn't use eyeshadow that you know is well past its expriation date.
This is because the eye area is especially delicate, and expired products can potentially cause major problems, particularly for more sensitive skin. Using expired or bad eyeshadow can lead to a host of problems, including pink eye, acne, rashes, or allergic reactions. When it comes to your eyes, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Are you finding it still performs well?

The urban decay heat pallette is all warm but very red.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 17/06/2022 06:40

I'm cool toned and couldn't wear these ones so they will probably suit you best.

@scoose I always think those expert opinions are cast around to line the pockets of cosmetics companies. Some of my make up is 15 years old and using without incident!

I don’t share make up though and I wash my brushes regularly.

BaaCake · 17/06/2022 06:46

Ps this pallette is bringing back some lovely memories with the shade names. I think they must have been in one or two of the naked palletes.

Do you always use it dry? Or do you ever wet your brush? Just envious of someone who can keep the metallics from going hard

Everydaydayisaschoolday · 17/06/2022 08:53

@BaaCake

I hate it when that happens.

I read a blog about it and apparently it's called hard-panning. If you get a small piece of sellotape and pat it on the hard shadow it lifts off the set product and reveals nice fresh powder underneath. I tried it and it works and doesn't lift huge chunks of powder away.

Brideandprejudice · 17/06/2022 09:28

I think you'd struggle to create a finished eyeshadow with only metallic shades, so ideally you need another palette anyway.

If this one is indeed 10 years old as PP pointed out, it's dangerous to use. It's alright you saying you don't care about stuff like that, but people have been hospitalised for using cosmetics so far out of date.

Given that you've had it so long surely you've had plenty of chance to use it and it's time to move on? Eyeshadows don't have to be expensive and you can get some great pallettes for less than £10.
