Come and laugh at my ponytail haircut

Cos if I don't laugh I'll cry!
I have an appointment with a hairdresser later. Will it be relatively easy for her to fix?
More worryingly, what will she say?? How will I explain myself?!

It’s not that bad.

PetersRabbitt · 15/06/2022 07:57

I like it

Gensola · 15/06/2022 07:58

It’s fine! If anything it just looks like layers that have grown out unevenly. Say nothing 😁

teablanket · 15/06/2022 07:59

It looks fine to me

SoupDragon · 15/06/2022 08:00

It doesn't look bad really.

I am quite disappointed 😂

HappyCup · 15/06/2022 08:01

I cringe whenever I see people suggesting ‘the Mumsnet haircut’. It gives you insane, wonky layers!

Luckily yours looks fixable and you’ve got loads of length to play with. I say: embrace going shorter.

Whatsthestoryboringglory · 15/06/2022 08:05

I came for hair disaster and I’m leaving disappointed!!

Ive had far worse home hair cuts OP. Your hair just looks like layers growing out! I quite like it. Just say nothing, or if they ask say it’s a lockdown haircut grown out.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 15/06/2022 08:07

Say nothing
but it's not a good haircut. I've done the ponytail haircut a few times with ok success but the last one went totally wrong and I'm having to grow out a mess. I don't recommend it.

rubydoobydoo · 15/06/2022 08:23

It's not that bad- just a bit pointy at the back and a bit blunt in the side layers! Should be really easy for the hairdresser to tidy up a bit!

dudsville · 15/06/2022 08:24

I thought you'd have the shockingly short fringe! The cut could be worse but it hasn't worked out as they sometimes can.

daisypond · 15/06/2022 08:26

I don’t think that’s too bad. It’s easily fixable as your hair is still long.

IvorCutler · 15/06/2022 08:27

It’s nearly there! Definitely salvageable. Don’t be embarrassed!

ShandaLear · 15/06/2022 08:29

That looks pretty good actually. Way better than some cuts I’ve had at the hairdressers!

Cazzawazzawoowootoo · 15/06/2022 08:31

It doesn't look that bad TBH. Looks like you have plenty of length to play with if they need to even it out.

I cut my own hair in lockdown and made myself look like the lead singer of an 80s soft rock band. Problem was it was too short to cut more off it to even it out so I had to wait six months to grow it out. 😡

BobLemon · 15/06/2022 08:37

It kinda looks like a “before” photo. Update us from the hairdressers later 😄

Beautiful3 · 15/06/2022 08:40

Don't say anything! It's not too bad. Show us your after pics! Hope it's fab.

Whatwouldnanado · 15/06/2022 09:39

That could be so much worse! Where did you get your dress? It's lovely.

Georgeskitchen · 15/06/2022 09:43

Gutted 🤣 I thought it would be hideous it's really not!!
A hairdresser would easily tidy it up for you 😍

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 15/06/2022 10:08

Its fine, much better than mine.

EggRollsForever · 15/06/2022 10:51

It's trendy - it's a shag.

EggRollsForever · 15/06/2022 10:52

Just needs a bit of styling and maybe a bit off the length.

AdoraBell · 15/06/2022 13:15

Looks okay to me but if you aren’t happy with it go ahead with the hairdresser. Either just say it needs tidying or say you had a go with the scissors and have a laugh over it. You won’t be the first person they’ve seen after attempting a self cut, and you won’t be the last either.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 15/06/2022 13:20

I have to say it isn’t that bad.

I currently look like a long haired Madam Mim.

You’re winning 😄

hihellohihello · 15/06/2022 13:26

Very, very easy to fix. Just blunt cut the straggly ends round at the very bottom and hey presto! Neater but still with face framing layers.

hihellohihello · 15/06/2022 13:29

Or you can put a pony tail on the crown of your head (over where your natural parting ends) and cut the very end off (I just do this bluntly no thinning). That evens up the bulk at the bottom. Then just cut any odd stragglers off around the bottom.
