Getting older... Tinted moisturiser or very light foundation?

Am fast approaching 40 and have recently realised that I like myself more without thick foundation.

I have a very red nose so need concealer coverage there but have beed doing that with just mascara, lip gloss and feel alot better than when I'm 'caked' with makeup.

I feel like it just makes my wrinkles worse!

Any recommendations for a tinted moisturiser or very, very light foundation?

Thanks

I'm 38 and feel exactly the same.

I use a green cc cream, which neutralises red tones and gives a bit of coverage without caking. I almost never wear foundation anymore and I was a daily make up wearer.

I've also found my eye make up looks way better when it's very toned down. Usually just mascara in the day

I'm 40 and, as it's super cheap, I use Garnier BB cream most days, but splash out on the Clarins BB cream from time to time. Foundation just seems to age me now.

The chanel CC cream but its out of stock everywhere!

I like bare minerals complexion rescue.

I have moved to tinted moisturiser and sometimes a light coverage foundation as I have aged. I currently love a light coverage of Il Makiage foundation for work. If using tinted moisturiser I love Avene Antirougeur from Boots, it’s awesome. I am currently wearing Smashbox Halo which is also lovely but works less well on my very dry skin (you need to apply and blend fast to avoid piling). Days off I tend to go for nothing but a bit of Trinny London BFF, with some concealer under the eyes.

I like Tropic one. It comes with SPF50, so double win for me. You can buy directly from their website, no need to reach through "ambassadors" and such.

I like bb cream, it blends in quite nicely has moisturiser and also spf.

I had same issue! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I use a bb cream and I'm 41. I find the best one is called Pure. You can get it in home bargains and on amazon.

Cosmeticfan · 08/06/2022 15:10

I don’t like any tinted moisturiser, BB or CC creams on my skin. It’s quite dry and tends to soak them up.

I use a liquid concealer called Tarte shape tape (I think). I use it with a foundation brush and it covers all my red marks nicely but doesn’t look heavy at all.

SweatyChamoisPad · 08/06/2022 15:10

I use bare minerals powder / I can put it on very lightly for the day or a bit thicker in the evening. I also sometimes just put it on my t zone so my freckles still show through.

PollockSandwich · 08/06/2022 15:13

I'm pushing 50 and just use a tinted factor 50 spf gel, a La Roche Posay one. Gives enough coverage but still looks light.

cannaethink · 08/06/2022 16:33

I really like L’Oréal True Match nude tinted serum. It’s quite sheer and light but still lasts all day. There’s not many shades though so I mix two.

TheWeeDonkey · 08/06/2022 16:36

At the moment I'm flitting between no 7 factor 50 tinted moisturiser and Garnier BB Cream. The one for oily skin is a life saver for me.

MrsHaroldRobbins · 08/06/2022 16:36

Another vote for Garnier BB cream. I mix it with Glossier Futuredew which I find makes it even lighter and gives a glow.

ChicCroissant · 08/06/2022 16:48

I've got the Garnier BB on right now, which I bought after a similar thread!

PorkPieForStarters · 08/06/2022 17:00

I've worn NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser for years and still love it. It gives a little coverage and colour while being lightweight and giving a nice glow. I apply with my fingers and it looks nice and dewy. I find even light foundations look too cakey for me.

It's SPF30 but I usually apply my own suncream underneath as I read that, unless you trowel on make up that contains SPF, it doesn't actually give real sun protection at the volume contained in makeup, esp when you spread it around. Could be wrong through!

Imabouttoexplode · 08/06/2022 17:15

Mix your own. Blob of moisturiser, blob of spf, bit of highlighter and a blob of your favourite foundation. Mix. Adjust ratios to suit.

Cattycatcatcat · 08/06/2022 17:17

I quite like the no7 hydro luminous foundation it's light and quite flattering I only use a little bit but it adds a nice glow to my skin .. and they can colour match for you too

Cattycatcatcat · 08/06/2022 17:20

Sorry hydra luminous..to add my husband started commenting on my skin on how well it looked .. and my hairdresser was up close and was asking what I used as my makeup looked flawless which is awesome because I'm crap at doing makeup 😂
