Hi all,

Going on holiday in a few days and I need some face sun cream. Non greasy, non eye stingy! Good under make up.

Preferably one I can order online which arrive soon :)

I like altruist from Amazon

ocelotka123 · 01/06/2022 10:40

I swear by this

Facial sun cream, good under make up
MrsSkylerWhite · 01/06/2022 10:41

Frezyderm is brilliant

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/06/2022 11:01

Dermalogica spf 50 for oily skin is good.

OrangeBlossom28 · 01/06/2022 11:25

Biore SPF50 watery essence or Altruist.

WooNoodle · 01/06/2022 11:27

Not what you asked for at all but garnier ambre solaire do an over make up face spray. I know you wanted under but this spray was a real game changer for me as I'm much more likely to reapply it.

ArabeI · 01/06/2022 11:28

La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50. I use this under make up on super hot days then top up with a facial spray SPF.

ParadiseLaundry · 01/06/2022 11:30

Another vote for Altruist, comes in F30 and 50 is cheap as chips on Amazon, doesn't sensitise my skin like others and make up goes on really nicely over the top.

I like this one too and use it for top ups during the day after applying Altruist all over in the morning.

La Roche Posay Anthelios is great, I used the fluid because I have oily skin and even in very humid Latin American weather conditions it didn’t make my skin oily. Expensive but worth it IMO

I wear sunscreen (SPF50) every single day so I've tried quite a few! For reference: I have sensitive skin and even more sensitive eyes. I'm prone to crying and ocasionally, when they are reeeeally bad, my eyes sting.
I love Rohto Mentholatum – Hada Labo UV White Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ , I get it from Amazon. It's also a makeup primer so you put it on, let it sink in and then your skin feels like velvet (it's really important to let it sink in though). Foundation goes over it like a charm. It works great and my face doesn't burn so it does its job. This is my skin's all-time favourite!
Sb recommended the Garnier Super UV (the one on the picture above), I'm allergic to loads but this works well for me. However it does have a bit of a "alcohol" smell I've grown to dislike though I wasn't bothered at first, so be aware of that.
Esteé Lauder has one which is supposed to be used under makeup: avoid, avoid, avoid. I live in a very sunny place and this does not do its job. Avoid!
La Roche Posay Anthelios - there's two different versions; both work well under makeup. However, I'm pretty allergic to one of them (I think I like the cream one but I'm not sure), it makes my eyes sting a LOT, even though I don't go near them. So, if you're pretty sensitive I'd try to get a sample first.
Clinique - tried the Superdefense one ages ago and I'd avoid the brand alltogether. The one I tried wasn't very effective, so I wouldn't risk this brand at all (you only have one face)!
Lancaster SPF50 face one - avoid! It gave me a rash.
Avène - my skin likes this brand in general.
Clarins - tried it a loooong time ago and I moved on. I don't remember it being terrible but not that great either tbh.
Heliocare - recommend by a dermatologist, my eyes hates this with a passion.
I also have a couple of compacts (just for touch ups) which I like but I wouldn't rely on just by itself: La Roche Posay Anthelios and Bioderma (that's a Spanish brand). My skin likes them.

The body shop one is good

onlyconnect · 01/06/2022 16:15

I just bought Elemis Daily Defence Shield at Heathrow and am now in a hot country. I'm pale so really wanted factor 50 and this is only 30.

It is great though. Really light and goes over moisturiser, under make up. I've actually put it over make up too when I needed to top up and it was fine.

No spots so far either which is normally a problem for me with facial sunscreens.

noblegreenk · 01/06/2022 16:27

Nivea Sun shine control. SPF 50.

ScottishStar · 01/06/2022 16:34

Which one of these is fragrance free? Or can someone recommend one? Thanks!

EmbroidedFlowers · 01/06/2022 16:40

Cetaphil Daily Defence spf 50. Very affordable and you can order from a few different places online. I found it sat really well under makeup.

WalkingOnSonshine · 01/06/2022 16:41

La Roche Posay and Avene for underneath. I then top up with a Bondi Sands aerosol spray.

EmbroidedFlowers · 01/06/2022 16:41

@ScottishStar the Cetaphil one I've mentioned is fragrance free 🙂

ScottishStar · 01/06/2022 16:42

Amazing, thank you!

Elmo311 · 01/06/2022 17:49

Thanks so much everyone! Some fantastic suggestions here...now which one to choose...

Boots do an all day facial Soltan one which is good

starlingdarling · 01/06/2022 18:24

I use nivea shine control as I have oily skin. It's thick out of the bottle but goes on without any white cast so I reapply without a mirror and don't need to worry. Altruist is good too but doesn't stay as matte as the nivea.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50. I use this under make up on super hot days then top up with a facial spray SPF.

Another vote for this, game changer for me, lightweight, non greasy, doesn't make my eyes run and brilliant protection. Just mist over your make-up
