Is this too long? Late twenties?

Is this too long for someone going on 30? I feel like long hair is more a teen thing these days and shorter hair has been embraced? How short should I take it?

OP posts:

I'm nearly 60, I have always had shit hair, fine, thin, won't grow, I would kill for hair like the OPs!

crosbystillsandmash · 31/05/2022 11:02

I get so sad reading posts like this!!!
If you were 90 it would still be ok to have your hair however the f**k you want it.

Honestly women have enough 'rules' inflicted on us by society, please don't do it to yourself.

I'm 51. I have long hair, wear extremely short skirts/dresses and shop wherever I bloody want to.

INeedNewShoes · 31/05/2022 11:06

I wish someone would write an age guide for stuff like this, as I didn't realise it was a thing.

30 - hair no longer than your chin
40 - no dresses/skirts above the knee
50 - must shop only from the Damart catalogue (no idea if this still exists, but DGM used to get it)
60 - no bare arms
70 - hair curled and set weekly

stuntbubbles · 31/05/2022 11:09

If I had hair that beautiful I’d not only keep it that long til I was 100, I’d do nothing all day but toss it over my shoulders and do shampoo advert slo-mo spins. Alas, mine thins out as soon as it hits my shoulders so I have to have a bob.

Biffatcrafts · 31/05/2022 11:20

It looks amazing, gorgeous colour and fab condition... keep it and be happy! 😁

MenopauseSucks · 31/05/2022 11:28

It looks lovely!

Enjoy it whilst you've got it.

Echosound · 31/05/2022 12:11

I find threads like this sad. Not really because of the “age rules” although they are daft, more because very young posters are often seeing themselves as old, or too old for things. Op is still in her 20’s which is young young young. Please young women, love yourselves, wear what you want, recognise and embrace your youth you’ll look back at this when you’re 40, 50, 60 etc and realise how young you were. There’s (hopefully) a lot of time to feel old or too old for things, don’t waste your youth thinking about this stuff now

ElenaSt · 31/05/2022 12:19

I'm way over 50 and my hair is longer than yours!

Yours looks lovely, don't cut it off.

doadeer · 31/05/2022 12:38

Huh?!? I'm early 30s with really long hair, definitely never thought it's a teenage thing. Your hair is in lovely condition

KiwiLadyPie · 31/05/2022 12:44

Sorry op but this is one of the most ridiculous insecurities I have heard of!
It's usually long hair after 50 or 40 that gets brought up on here (and the answer is no, you are never too old for long hair! People can have gorgeous or thin and straggly hair at any age and even then it's up to them if they want to keep it long)

middleofthelittle · 31/05/2022 12:44

Surely this is just a bait thread to get compliments on your hair?🤣

KiwiLadyPie · 31/05/2022 12:47

OP It might be your style needs to be more grown up but it's not the hair length. Of course you can wear whatever you want, too in my view but when I turned 30 I personally knew I wanted to refresh my wardrobe with a new style as I didn't feel comfortable dressing like 17-21 year olds. I'm sure I will refresh my look again when I'm over 40 and so on.

SabrePrattler · 31/05/2022 12:48

This is most peculiar.

DurhamDurham · 31/05/2022 12:51

I didn't realise you had to get your hair cut after a certain age, I'm 52 this year so I'm a few decades older than the op and still have long hair. Never heard of this before, is it really a thing?

LondonQueen · 31/05/2022 15:17

I'm mid (maybe late depending on who you ask!) 20s and my hair is a little longer than that, I get so many compliments on it so won't be cutting it short anytime soon. Keep it long if you like it.

balalake · 31/05/2022 16:07

Looks fine to me, why change it?

The skirts above the knee one should not be about age.

Chubarubrub · 31/05/2022 16:25

Noooo your hair is lovely OP, keep your hair how you want to. Not to some weird old fashioned societal ideal. I’m nearly 40 and my hair is just as long.

Chubarubrub · 31/05/2022 16:25

Mabelface · 31/05/2022 09:50

My hair is long, I'm over 50 and wear what the fuck I like.

Every woman needs to feel this way 😀

Ticksallboxes · 31/05/2022 16:27

Gosh no - not too old at all!!

MrOllivander · 31/05/2022 17:06

I'm 38 and just had mine cut... to this length Grin
Mine is going nowhere even if someone did comment I should have it shorter before I get to 40

Is this too long? Late twenties?
Fluffycloudland77 · 31/05/2022 17:55

I didn’t know we had a age limit on our hair still.

Your having the “birthday with a zero in it” wobble. It passes.

ArabeI · 31/05/2022 20:05

I'm not far off 40 and mine is waist length. Plenty of people in long hair and community groups I'm in have much longer hair than me and they're a variety of ages. I think the eldest, currently, is in her 80s.

So, no. I don't think you're too old.

ArabeI · 31/05/2022 20:15

I think I intend to let my hair grow to classic length. I used to get it cut just before it reached waist length, but lockdown changed that and I decided I liked having it that length again. Nothing to do with age though, just practicality.

Your hair looks lovely, OP! Will you maintain it at that length or let it grow longer?

Bonbon21 · 31/05/2022 20:17

The ONLY thing you "should" do... is be YOU!!
Whatever that is!!!

EllaPaella · 31/05/2022 20:46

God yes, knocking on 30?? Geez you are ancient, what do you think you are doing having long hair?? (Clutches at pearls)
