Ankle boots with this dress? Please help before I commit a style crime!

Bought this dress for a wedding
Will wear with a leather jacket on top and a nice All Saints belt. looks very cool on (according to DD who knows these things).

I need footwear. I cannot, cannot wear heels at all. Or open shoes due to ugly feet.
So thought about similar to the models (but i can't afford the All Saints ones!).

Would be grateful for advice before I go and spend £129.00 on a pair of Barbour tan coloured ankle boots from Pavers.

You look gorgeous in this dress! Love your hair too.

toastedcat · 29/05/2022 22:16

I actually think the model's boots don't go with the dress at all, but I like the brown suede - to me it looks quite casual and festival-y which isn't a bad thing if it's an informal wedding?

It would help to know what you look like but I think from the sounds of it you can pull it off!! X

Beetles123456 · 29/05/2022 22:22

I would wear these

I may well be banned from style & beauty for this, but white ankle cowboy boots

Tit tape is your friend - but not those boots. Definitely something a bit edgier required.

Eightiesfan · 29/05/2022 22:42

I’d go for white superga trainers.

rainbowandglitter · 29/05/2022 22:45

It's a lot longer on you than the model so I don't think boots would look right.

rainbowandglitter · 29/05/2022 22:46

Or is it a different dress?

Ticksallboxes · 30/05/2022 00:10

I actually agree with you OP - those tan ankle boots nicely pick out a colour in the dress.

I think you need to be expertly groomed to pull it off at a wedding though - particularly with a leather jacket as well, like hair up and off the face with really good makeup, otherwise you'll look like you're going to a gig.

Ticksallboxes · 30/05/2022 00:12

And remove the leather jacket as soon as you're inside!

ThatshallotBaby · 30/05/2022 07:37

The allsaints boots are perfect. Like Nancy I also thought white cowboy boots, so those second.
i would also go for a blazer, but in a contrasting colour, bright pink or green.
Hope you have a great time!

Actually it is a bit of a festival wedding. We have street food and all kinds of stuff going on outside a beautiful barn type building in the countryside. It's a mature couple so v laid back. And I really appreciate all your comments and compliments, means alot as i thought i was well past the age when anyone would think I can look good ! I shall bear it all in mind re the total look. Haven't even given hour or makeup a thought but I have bought some touche eclat total coverage for dark circles 😀.

You look so stunning in that dress. Don't think anyone will notice what's going on in the feet dept so anything that gives you a bit of lift - mood-wise, height-wise, performing-wise - I reckon would rock.

hoorayandupsherises · 30/05/2022 10:42

Wow, you don't just look better than the model, you look about a hundred times better!

Given what you've said about the wedding, I'd personally wear Docs and a leather jacket, but I always feel so much more uncomfortable being overdressed than under, so I err on the side of casual!

balalake · 30/05/2022 11:13

You are in the band! You can get away with anything! Hope the day goes well.

Trafficjamlog · 30/05/2022 12:32

I absolutely love the white cowboy boots

ThatshallotBaby · 01/06/2022 08:00

Have you got your final look @usernamenotaccepted?

usernamenotaccepted · 01/06/2022 08:14

No not yet boots haven't arrived and still seeking something to wear over the dress that I'll like enough to wear more than once! Still haven't ruled out summer weight light cream leather jacket though!! Tried a lovely one on in the shop but it was hideously expensive !

Typical. Sounds lovely though! If you have time please post finished outfit!

ShirleyPhallus · 02/06/2022 08:02

That dress is beautiful and you look amazing in it. I’d lose the belt personally, I think tan ankle boots would actually look good given the vibe of the wedding.

Did a small internal LOL at the poster suggesting kitten heels. Kitten heels are absolutely never the answer to anything!

Aworldofmyown · 02/06/2022 08:04

How about clogs? Love the dress.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 02/06/2022 09:18

Love the dress ! Not with the belt though , looks too fussy

MyFavouritePlace · 02/06/2022 09:42

I have nothing to add on the shoe front but you look amazing in the dress!

usernamenotaccepted · 02/06/2022 11:29

The ankle boots don't look good so wondered about these from ted Baker. They come in white too.

Thanks so much for the compliments and suggestions the wedding is 18th June so still have time to find what I want.

Oh and for those saying the belt is too fussy - I need a belt for at least part of the day because I have an in ear monitor to sing and it's wired to the PA and has to be attached to me somehow. Hope that makes sense.
