I’m having a wobble. I chose a dress To wear as MOB but it creases so easily.

back up dress is this one which I love love love but would it be weird to wear it because the material is velvet?

@AnAfternoonWalk it wasn’t completely aimed at you because you weren’t the only one on this thread to assume she was the bride. But it happens ALL the time on so many threads and is just really irritating.

I didn’t look at the links 🤷‍♀️.

I understand. I get annoyed at people doing that too. I think this is the first time I got mixed up on a post. Thanks for letting me know.

DillyDilly · 20/05/2022 19:49

A lot of uncalled comments here, especially as the wedding is tomorrow.

Wear the SP dress, the velvet would be ‘wrong’ for this time of year. So what if the slit is mid thigh when you walk. Enjoy.

LIZS · 20/05/2022 19:50

Prefer blue one

pictish · 20/05/2022 20:03

PURPLE, it’s gorgeous. The blue doesn’t compare.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 20/05/2022 20:11

Both lovely, I think you should wear the blue for the day. Purple velvet is more evening.

I was very surprised at the number of people who changed outfit in the evening at the last wedding I went to - apparently it’s the done thing now, so go ahead if you feel the urge!

Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding, hope you all have a lovely day.

Killjoy!! Who are you, that you decree that no one is allowed to be a diva, why aren't you a diva?!? Be a fucking diva, it's your daughters wedding, I'm sure you are a loving, kind and supportive mum so enjoy the life out of your baby's wedding. And ignore those who wish to squash you even if it's just with words on a screen

I do not decreeGrin

Trialsandtribulationsoflife · 20/05/2022 20:19

This is weird but I can only see the purple one.

can someone screenshot & post the other one please? It sounds fabulous.

AnAfternoonWalk · 20/05/2022 20:22

The blue is better than the purple. You can pin the slit a little if you need to. The purple velvet is winter evening wear.

I love them both! Whats the weather forecast where you are? Depending on that I do love the idea of blue for day and velvet for the evening.

I hope you all have a wonderful day

Trialsandtribulationsoflife · 20/05/2022 20:28

Thanks @AnAfternoonWalk

I definitely prefer that one to the velvet.

gregdaviesiswonderful · 20/05/2022 20:31

I love them both OP

And I remember when I got married....I wanted my mum to feel comfortable and to have the time of her life!! She is only MOB once and I insisted on taking her for a personal shopper experience for her outfit. Yes, it was my day but it was also an opportunity for her to shine

I say be the diva (esp if your daughter agrees) and wear both as others have suggested

Have the most fantastic day!

Imhavingawobble · 20/05/2022 18:22

@Plump82 it’s this one - it looks amazing in the photo and the corset part is fantastic but the skirt is all crepe and creases so so easily. I’m also now winning because of the split.

The blue one is in the link OP posted (quoted above).

Imhavingawobble · 20/05/2022 20:49

Thank you everyone- I am very grateful for your help. I’ve been crying, I don’t know where it came from but it was like a tidal wave of emotion that couldn’t be held back. I’m normally so level headed and good at helping others make decisions- Solomon’s paradox I suppose!

i don’t want to trouble my daughter, I don’t want anything to to distract her from the joyful anticipation she is feeling. I’ve spoken to the lovely lady who is doing my hair and makeup early tomorrow and demo both dresses for a final decision.

The velvet. This isn't a good look

The velvet. I don't like the blue dress at all. The split is horrible.

Agree.

FrankGrillosFloof · 20/05/2022 21:55

I like the blue much better!

Merlo · 21/05/2022 09:06

So many different opinions on her OP. I happen to think they are both lovely and have myself worn a velvet dress in that exact colour to a May wedding. You must wear whatever you feel happy and comfortable in, that is honestly all that matters. You mustn’t worry about what others think, this is a huge day for you too and the most important thing is that you are able to enjoy yourself, without worry about your dress. For what it’s worth, my mum had a huge wobble before my sisters wedding - to the point where the afternoon before her and I whizzed into the nearest town and she brought something completely different. Shock horror, it was a long cream floral dress, that another guest was also wearing! The world did not come to an end, she looked beautiful and had a huge smile on her face the whole day. It really didn’t matter what she was wearing, or that someone else was also wearing it because she felt comfortable and relaxed and that showed. My sister couldn’t have cared less, neither will you daughter, as long as you are happy. And I also agree that changing outfits for the evening is now very common, for the guests as well as the bride.
Congratulations to your daughter and I hope you all have the most wonderful day.
