Can you solve this summer shoe conundrum?

If you can, you are nothing short of a style and beauty genius.

I'm trying to balance my work dress code with a variety of foot problems I have and also wanting to look at least reasonably good.

I need summer shoes to wear with dresses.

The requirements are:
Flat.
No sandals.
No trainers.
No open toes.
No open sides or backs.
Must be covered across the top of the foot, preferably with some give like elastic or laces.
Wide fitting.
Stylish.

I think this problem cannot be solved.

Brogues? I’d go for some silver ones possibly to go with lots of outfits

KatharinaRosalie · 15/05/2022 20:07

I have several pairs from this brand, certainly comfortable and fit wide feet, and not too hideous. Also machine washable.

This model looks totally acceptable with business suits: www.vivaiacollection.com/item/pointed-toe-v-cut-flats-p_10000061.html

Allbirds tree flats

Thecatwokemeup · 15/05/2022 20:10

Do you work in a secure environment by any chance? I go for converse but that might not be formal enough

MerylSqueak · 15/05/2022 20:13

@Bigoldmachine I have tried some brogues but I can't find any that seem to work with summer dresses. It would be great if I could find some that were a bit lower cut than normal. I had one pair like this and wore them until they fell apart.

Thank you for that link. They look good in some ways but I'm really supposed to have more coverage on the top of my foot. Ballet flats are very painful for me. I know these are a bit different so I will look at them again.

These are well made, very comfortable and reasonably priced-any good for you?

IvorCutler · 15/05/2022 20:19

Ballet pumps?

IvorCutler · 15/05/2022 20:20

Sorry, just saw your comment about them.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 15/05/2022 20:22

I'd go for something like these but maybe not this colour

@Thecatwokemeup yes too informal I'm afraid.

@KatharinaRosalie yes those caught my eye. They don't go with my dresses though.

@FadedRed I do scour Pavers etc for anything possibly stylish. I'm wondering about these. I've had success with the sort of style I've attached a picture of. Not sure if I could carry them off as stylish

These in tan suede were my favourites but they're worn out now. Clarks Pure Tone which are similar are all sold out.

Loafers?

hepaticanobilis · 15/05/2022 20:30

For flat and wide I 100% recommend reading about barefoot/foot shaped shoes like Vivobarefoot. They have been a game changer for me and solved any foot pain I had. A lot of the best brands are not UK based, Happy Little Soles stocks lots of brands though (for adults too even though it was originally a kids shop).

gavisconismyfriend · 15/05/2022 20:30

How about something like this www.vionicshoes.co.uk/women/penelope-casual-slip-on.html?color=777 come in a range of colours

MerylSqueak · 15/05/2022 20:30

@ICannotRememberAThing I have loafers to wear with trousers but I can't make them work with dresses

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/05/2022 20:31

Sorry. These

OP, have you googled ‘Clark’s Pure tone’?
You can get them from loads of places not just Clark’s shops.

ICannotRememberAThing · 15/05/2022 20:34

What size are you?

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 15/05/2022 20:34

Have you looked at the Skechers range www.skechers.co.uk/women/shoes/flats/

GearBots · 15/05/2022 20:34

Ballet pumps?

I really for these comfy

www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/allegro-soft-leather-ballet-pumps-p-Q74#031

And they have a decent enough sole. I have fairly wide feet and they fit well.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/05/2022 20:35
