Can you solve this summer shoe conundrum?

If you can, you are nothing short of a style and beauty genius.

I'm trying to balance my work dress code with a variety of foot problems I have and also wanting to look at least reasonably good.

I need summer shoes to wear with dresses.

The requirements are:
Flat.
No sandals.
No trainers.
No open toes.
No open sides or backs.
Must be covered across the top of the foot, preferably with some give like elastic or laces.
Wide fitting.
Stylish.

I think this problem cannot be solved.

@MerylSqueak yes they're from Shien. There's also these in Clarks that come in nice summertime colours and silver

What size do you need in the Pure Tone? They still have some in the Clarks Outlet online store, and there are some on ebay as well

JD Williams/SimplyBe also have them in D fit.

These?

They come in other colours too.

MerylSqueak · 15/05/2022 20:54

I'm a 6.5 /7. It depends. I have to be able to get orthotics in them.

Heeled loafers?

MerylSqueak · 15/05/2022 21:05

Oo if they were flat I'd go for them in grey.

Even that heel is probably a bit much for me though. I have two different bone growths growing towards each other. Any pressure pushing them together is very painful.

They do these as flats:

Allbirds tree flats

I second this - so comfortable, machine washable.

I balked at nigh on £100 but I love them so much I've bought a second pair. I was constantly buying Asda ballet flats at £7 a pair but in the long run these have worked out cheaper: real life Vimes' Boots Theory in action!

I find the Toms espadrilles really comfortable and most are pretty flat. They look great with dresses, but equally nice with trousers.

elephantbreathing · 15/05/2022 21:25

Have a look at Gabor shoes. Wide and comfy.

3luckystars · 15/05/2022 21:29

LK Bennet have loads of them, they are out of my league but they are very nice!!

@Rooma @MadAngryCry I have been tempted by those but they are just too low for me.

I'm very grateful for the other suggestions. I will look at them all but I have to go to bed now. Early start tomorrow!

@Alwayswonderedwhy Is there any chance of a link to the Shein ones you saw? I can't find them

You could knock me down tieh a feather. LK Bennet do wide fit! They're too pricey for me but it's noce to know!

I love those All Birds shoes but they look like they’d fall apart within 5 minutes with all the walking I have to do. Anyone know whether they’re comfortable enough to do a good 20 minute train hike twice a day and whether they last or fall apart after a lot of walking?

3luckystars · 15/05/2022 21:43

Yes those all birds shoes look gorgeous!! I’ll have to save up!

I think these would work with dresses, the buckle is elasticated.

Or these with a lace are on sale:

Espadrilles (flat or thick sole flat) in suede or thin stretchy leather. Tan or cream colour or khaki work well with a range of summer dresses.

Goosey3 · 16/05/2022 05:54

@MerylSqueak I work in a shoe shop that specialises in foot problems. Please ignore any recommendations for Sketchers - I know people love them but they’re horrendous for your feet 😬
I second the suggestions of Gabor (Comfort Fit/G Fit styles would probably work best for you!) and Ecco. You’ll get lots of underfoot cushioning and support in those and they have the added benefit of most styles having removable insoles which can be very helpful depending on the type of orthotic you need to fit 😊
