Why are Seasalt apologising?

I received a little package in the post this morning with a pair of socks and a £10 voucher from Seasalt by way of an apology for “getting it wrong last year”.

I hardly buy anything from Seasalt anyway so no idea why they felt the need to apologise (but I’m quite happy with the socks).

what exactly DID they “get wrong”?

Hmm. I didn’t get anything and am a regular customer. Maybe you didn’t buy anything from them last year and it’s one of the weird PA advertising things companies seem to go in for….

ImAvingOops · 13/05/2022 16:09

Maybe they confused you with another customer?

It's passive aggressive! 😆

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 13/05/2022 16:12

sounds like a “we notice you didn’t buy anything last year <sad face> we’re so sorry we must be so bad and we want to make it up to you so you spend money with us” marketing ploy

Boden used to send that sort of “did we do something wrong” shite all time

FishfingerFlinger · 13/05/2022 16:21

Reading the blurb again it does sound like they actually think things have been bad - talking about investing in more staff and website improvements?

Thinking about it I think the only time I ordered anything at all recently one item I ordered they couldn’t fulfil so perhaps that’s why I’m on their list.

I mean it’s backfired a bit because I had completely forgotten about that and now they’re just alerting me to them being potentially unreliable. Still, free socks though!

There were some issues with turnaround times for shipping towards the end of the autumn, I remember because I wanted to buy a coat to wear for a trip and they had turned off next day delivery and the customer service rep I spoke to said the shipping side of things was short staffed. So could be something like that. 🤔

There was a dress I wanted to buy from Seasalt. It was sold out online in sizes that might fit me.
I was on holiday elsewhere in Ireland and they had the dress in a local shop. I was delighted. But the Seasalt assistant wouldn't allow me try it on. She cited Covid as the reason. I couldn't take the risk of buying it and being unable to return it to the shop, hundreds of miles from my home, to get a refund.

Sigh - it was a lovely dress.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/05/2022 16:51

Ooooo I'm a regular customer , I want socks!!!

OnlyClothes · 13/05/2022 16:58

I also ordered a dress that was out of stock and got socks.

I’ll have to try ordering out of stock stuff more often.

ClinkeyMonkey · 13/05/2022 17:18

They sent me a pinafore dress instead of a raincoat last year. Maybe those are my socks🤣🤣

woodhill · 13/05/2022 17:31

I've found them very efficient and never had a problem

AnotherDelphinium · 13/05/2022 17:32

I adore seasalt socks, they’re my new go-to!

40Jem · 13/05/2022 20:22

I got a pair of free socks today too! I've hardly bought anything from them recently, but I've just remembered that I did order a top in the sale last year that didn't arrive and when I queried it was told it was out of stock so just got a refund.

Ireolu · 13/05/2022 20:50

I got an additional dress I didn't pay for and then it took them ages to send a return label. I wasn't willing to pay out for something that wasn't my fault. The dress was 115 quid as well!

User7493268965 · 13/05/2022 20:59

It might be that they couldn't fulfil an order, I got a £10 off voucher code once because the thing I ordered was out of stock.

User7493268965 · 13/05/2022 21:00

The socks are very nice and comfortable, I have several pairs.

Morred · 13/05/2022 21:08

Joules used to do a great thing where if you deleted their marketing emails unopened for a couple of weeks they’d send you a 10-20% off voucher. I used to do it deliberately when I fancied a new top.

TosstTastic · 13/05/2022 21:16

Toast get my vote for dreadful customer service. A recent refund had to continually chased. Kept being fobbed off with 'actioned in ten working days' took close to a month. The apology was 15% off with the deadline for that in six days.
I didn't order. Never again.

CathyorClaire · 13/05/2022 21:26

I got some sort of voucher from FatFace apologising for some imagined order SNAFU once.

Used it happily for near freebie socks and didn't dig too deep Grin

GarlicGnocchi · 13/05/2022 21:48

Unsolicited socks

sashagabadon · 13/05/2022 21:50

I get sent a pair of unsolicited socks about twice yearly from bamboo. I have never ordered anything. I have about 8 pairs from them! They are quite good socks, always stripy ones. I’m due a new pair soon actually 😁

woodhill · 13/05/2022 21:52

I love the socks

SmiledWtherisingsun · 13/05/2022 21:55

BAM sent me about 4 pairs of socks past year. No idea why.

Cleanbedlinen12 · 13/05/2022 21:59

Hop the socks are nicer than my cardi which got bobbles on before I’d worn it and was sooo thin and nasty . Overpriced and greedy. Shame they were nice once. Humph!

Puffalicious · 13/05/2022 22:03

Hey! I'm a fairly regularly customer of both Seasalt and BAM...nothing for me! Not a stitch! Bah!
